If Johnny doesn't belong in the Music Hall of Fame, I don't know who does. He should have been inducted before he passed so he knew how much his music was loved.
And I find Keith Barbour's version bland and uninspired....BUT...I wouldn't come to YOUR page and criticize...I have a life!!....What do YOU do for work that makes you QUALIFIED to say one version is better than another....I make these slideshows for people to enjoy......I don't have time for people with no talent making stupid comments ...If you don't like something here, then don't comment....why be an ass? 2003 OTHER people DID like it...so who's right?...YOU or THEM!!...Have a nice day!!
@MartaLover1977 I didn't know you'd take it so personally...I'd been looking for the song for years, and only w/ the aid of Google had I just found it, and it was only a couple of minutes after hearing the other version. I'd like you to notice I said I hated it "in comparison" to the other one, meaning I could still actually love it, and most likely would, had I heard it fist. THAT was why I started to read the comments, to see what other people thought about the Brooklyn Bridge version. cont.
@MartaLover1977 ...for all I know, the Brooklyn Bridge version could have been the one I heard way, way back, when I was a kid, but couldn't remember it. Why would I have read comments concerning a song I just didn't think was any good at all.
And as far as the Brooklyn Bridge version is concerned the only thing noticed was different was all the brass they threw in there...i thought it broke up the verses too much. I like The Brooklyn Bridge, actually. And I think you have some talent, (cont.)
@MartaLover1977 That's why I took the time to explain what I meant...I didn't want you to think any judgement of your slide show was a factor. I generally try not to criticize anything requiring creativity, because I basically am NOT qualified, as you said, and I don't want to stifle anyone's creativity. I have respect for you because you are doing something I couldn't do if I tried. I also get a little sensitive when people criticize video's I've uploaded 'cause I shot them all myself. Sorry..
Echo Park was also sung by Keith Barbour in 1969.........it was equally as great! This song is truly under-rated by all the oldies channels, and deserves some air time!!!
never knew that...thanks for the info..I'm gonna try and FIND that version...I have a country version of Your Husband, My Wife and it's a DUET!!...You also might wanna listen to the Jerry Lee Lewis version of 16 Candles....if you haven't heard it, that is...
Echo Park by Keith Barbour is on you-tube. Incogneedle is the one that posted this song. Good luck in finding it, and listening to it, it reached the top 10 in 1969, and the one that I remembered.
Oh God what a reminder! It makes me sad too! VOTE! Bring our troops home. I had a sinking feeling of what the 70' were like at the end of the viet nam war. Thank you for sharing . Only johnny could make it sound like this or sing it with real feeling. Great job rick. VOTE VOTE VOTE, johnnie
Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge AND Jay & The Americans are playing on the same show in Lakewood NJ. Its the fabulous STRAND Theatre on Saturday, Nov 15. I have my tickets.
gosh what a powerful evocotive song and joand its certainly got a very powerful and relevant message hnny brings such conviction to these words this is about the devastating afects of war and its relevant to any war
Powerful message in the lyrics of this song, sung superbly by Johnny Maestro, and relevant to any war and the people affected by war. Good images to accompany the song. "Echo Park" was on JM&BB's second LP album, "The Second Brooklyn Bridge", released in 1969.

That version is nowhere near as great as Keith Barbour's version, which is also on YouTube...I HATE this version in comparison.
I like a couple of Brooklyn Bridge tunes but they don't do this justice. Sorry.
