Depends how you look at the ending goal of both parties. Conservatives stand for small government, freedom for the people and few regulations so that people can do what humans are born to do... make errors, learn from them. Democrats have this idea that they should prevent people from making errors, regulate how they live their life from how they eat, what they watch, and how they participate while giving people money for being a canker on our system.

As you say, "to protect." You never even hears business lobbies argue that setting federal standards infringes on individual rights. They want national health care, control over the car manufacturers, energy export regulations all for the sake of their desire for power.
GM is insolvent, what now? They have been bailed out three times and they never produced a viable restructing plan. You are misled if you think the Federal government was eager to pick up the mess that GM has become, the company is bankrupt and the government is a major creditor. When the S&Ls went down the FDIC stepped in. There is no equivalent in this case. When a company goes bankrupt its creditors sieze their assets, that is what is happening here.
Then let it fall, the business industry should be propped up by peoples spending. If they can't sell the product and make money, then they are structured wrong and deserve to fail. Obama and Bush both gave them bail outs which is beyond ignorant. GM sells the same amount of cars as Toyota but where Toyota makes 92 million, GM loses it. Why? Because GM is unionized. They pay people who don't even work there anymore.
I would agree that GM failed in large part due to mismanagement. The unions are not above criticism, but I definately would not have gone to the pensioner. They got screwed big time, after decades of providing GM with low interest loans, they got their pension reduced to a small fraction of what was promised, Madoff style, but legal.
Also, a firm that is nationalized can always be privatized again later. I suspect they will eventually break up GM and sell division to new auto manufacturers.
Geithner does not want to trigger another round of deleveraging. What the Fed has said is that the banks have sufficient equity with the government loans. But they still have large unknowns CDOs on their balance sheets. If they should have to liquidate to increase their cash positition, we could have a redo of the original meltdown. First the banks should deleverage without being under durress, then repay the loans.

Really How so??? on my policy its only 34$ a month a cell phone cost more than that. if a add my wife its 124$ a month with the option of adding kids, that's cable tv and a cellphone for the both of us a month, ive had insurance for 10 years and my cost has hardly gone up any, i pay 20$ for a co pay and 20% of the bill in the ER, and if it gets to costly i can get on the group policy via my employer and i am a union member, how do i not have it???

Conservatives stand for small government, freedom for the people and few regulations so that people can do what humans are born to do... make errors, learn from them. Democrats have this idea that they should prevent people from making errors, regulate how they live their life from how they eat, what they watch, and how they participate while giving people money for being a canker on our system.

So you know. A federal regulation would be something along the lines of maintenance standards for airplanes, safety standards for restaurants or reporting standards for lending institutions. As you say, "to protect." You never even hears business lobbies argue that setting federal standards infringes on individual rights. They generally stick to the more placid, its too expensive and will cost jobs. But maybe you should contact a few and see if you can advance your philosophy.

I think you might be refering to GM. Wangner was CEO for 9 years and in that time GMs US market share went from 33% to 19%. The government gave them two cash infusion making the US the largest creditor. GM WOULD BE OUT OF BUISNESSS W/O THAT MONEY! Its called management not socialism. No other lender would even talk to them. A no string atteched loan is a disservice to the tax payer. Before you say the loans should never have been made, the bulk of it were granted under Bush (a good decision).

No that does not make sense. Liberty is synonymous with freedom. You indivdual freedom is garaunteed by the constitution and if it is infringed by anyone EVEN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT you can sue them in civil court. Hence the term civil liberty. I never supported the bail outs, but typically in the past how a bail out worked was government would give a company money and then the company would pay it back. A lot of banks are trying to give back their bail out money and Mr Tax Cheat ( Tim Geichner) refuses to accept their money. They don't care about stabilizing banks, all they want is power over them. They want national health care, control over the car manufacturers, energy export regulations all for the sake of their desire for power.

GM is insolvent, what now? They have been bailed out three times and they never produced a viable restructing plan. You are misled if you think the Federal government was eager to pick up the mess that GM has become, the company is bankrupt and the government is a major creditor. When the S&Ls went down the FDIC stepped in. There is no equivalent in this case. When a company goes bankrupt its creditors sieze their assets, that is what is happening here.

Then let it fall, the business industry should be propped up by peoples spending. If they can't sell the product and make money, then they are structured wrong and deserve to fail. Obama and Bush both gave them bail outs which is beyond ignorant. GM sells the same amount of cars as Toyota but where Toyota makes 92 million, GM loses it. Why? Because GM is unionized. They pay people who don't even work there anymore.

I would agree that GM failed in large part due to mismanagement. The unions are not above criticism, but I definately would not have gone to the pensioner. They got screwed big time, after decades of providing GM with low interest loans, they got their pension reduced to a small fraction of what was promised, Madoff style, but legal.
Also, a firm that is nationalized can always be privatized again later. I suspect they will eventually break up GM and sell division to new auto manufacturers.

Geithner does not want to trigger another round of deleveraging. What the Fed has said is that the banks have sufficient equity with the government loans. But they still have large unknowns CDOs on their balance sheets. If they should have to liquidate to increase their cash positition, we could have a redo of the original meltdown. First the banks should deleverage without being under durress, then repay the loans.

A big part of the republician party though is religion. people that belive in a God or certin religion can still be very much a scientific mind on all things besides the theory that evoulition is why we exist. either way 2010 is going to say alot about what deriction people want this country to go. should be interesting.

oh, yeah...well i agree with you that we dont know how (or why) the common ancestor of all life got here......that version of abiogenesis you oversimplified is one of many very plausible ideas....but until we can reproduce the original reaction they will remain well informed hypothesis. Most reasonable people would consider 29 Viagra pills alot. Its like if the Cops search you and find two condoms they think you are hoping to get lucky, but if they find 29 condoms on you they suspect you are a gay prostitute. Doctors will prescribe as many viagra as you want. 100 at a time is not uncommon although most people get less because they are so expensive. So if he takes 1 a day and gets laid once a day for laee than a month what's the problem?
