Love this commercial! I owned a 70 Z28 for a very long time, the twist is, I bought the car in 76, sold it around 88 to the man I bought it from, now I'm looking at her again, yes from the same man I sold her to 20 years ago!! Just like in the commercial, true love never dies!!
I rank this right next to the "Freedom" commercial for the Dodge Challenger. Both are amazing, one for its ridiculous sense of humor, and the other for its incredibly hard yank to the heart-strings.
i love this comerical! Anyone who would get rid of their classic to get new muscle is an ass.I thinks these new gen muscle cars grate but they don't come close to the classics, but if gm ever brings back the El Camino (even if it's gluiest thing to see the light of day) id be the first in ling to get one.
@MrCaCaaaaaaaaa >----> Yes they should bring back the Z-28. BUT!!! The Super Sports ARE THE KING of the bowties! So sorry Z-28 owners, but SS's Should always have more power than the Z-28's. That's how it was in the 60's early 70's. And that's how it should stay.
@extremedrivr Not Entirely. The SuperSport package was the BASE V8 model. You had to use a 396 to where our little 302s and 350s made more power..with less. 396 is a 6.6L V8 whereas a 5.0L is a 302 and 5.7L is a 350. The Z28 will always be the better Camaro because it was made for Going in a Straight Line AND Cornering. Why do you think in 1970 that they put a Corvette Engine and Corvette Suspension in?
And people always ask us car guys why we hang on to "junk" but when that "junk", is your long time friend, it's an impossible task to get rid of your best friend.
I live in the UK,I have been obscessed with camaros since a teenager!(im now 38:-P ) I wanted a 1980 z28 real bad,i took me years to find the "right one"here in the UK,many suffered real bad with rust due to our wet climate, and people could not be bothered to paint or treat the underneath properly!I did find one,a arizona import, mint bodywork absolutely no rust and no interior due to the ravages of the sun!The cars now mint, and if GM build a Z28 I recon they may put a Big Block In?
im from the uk too, im 25, iv been obsessed with anything camaro, since i can remember, i saw a 1984 Z28 red with black stripes, she was beautiful, the dude was selling for £1500, i missed it, im still gutted, recently i saw a yellow bumblebee style 2010 camaro, i touched her, it was one of the best moments of my life, also i sat in a 2009 challenger srt 8 (orange), which was epic.
@BogusBoy2121 They won't put a big block in. I love big blocks, i have a 454 in my truck, but BBCs they are going to be dead soon. They can build the LS motors to 500 ci. That is over 8 liters for you Brits. It would be cool to see GM put a BBC in but they aren't going to use an engine designed in the 50's to power a 2011 car. Gas milage, emissions, power to wieght, cost etc... I would love to see an all aluminum 427 in one though.
@BogusBoy2121 No, the consensus is they'll put the Engine from the CTS-V in it. Which is essentially a supercharged corvette engine. And that goes o-60 in 3.9secs and weighs more than 2 tons. A Camaro with that engine would be beastly fast
To be honest but when i was like 5 to 13 i have no interest and usually hate cars.. Now i tried to think about cars and i found that Camaro is the one i picked and will be my car till i get old i am currently 14 and hoping to own one , one day and yes having a car is like loving someone and i love my dream car,
@Jac1010101 no worries......it's comming...2011 mark my words....oh and GM will pay off 8billion$ by june 2010, way ahead of time, was just posted in the news today. The Z28 will happen, watch out Rustangs!
@jsk8drummer It's a spec commercial so it's been purposely done as a trial to show GM and Chevy the benefits of actually funding all 5, which based on the comments here, clearly shows it ought to be a nationally televised commercial and ad campaign. :)
Ahhh!! The "jilted lover" angle..classic... but boy , it really hits the spot! I had a '73 RS / LT of the style just like in the video... I just about got a lump in my throat when I saw this. I just loved that car, kept it for 13 years until I was cut off and it got wrecked one day. With a solid lifter LT-1 under the hood, It was the fastest high-winding car I have ever owned. Yeah, I would do both as well, keep the old car and buy a new Camaro as well. Sound logic for a "Motorhead" like me.
...when America is earning for the vibes of a much more comfortable bygone era...this iconic muscle car can surely tap into that and then some...great ad - spot on Camaro..you hit it on the head with this one!
i've got a 68 ss camaro that ive almost sold 4 or 5 times. she doesn't run anymore but she still looks pretty. the memories i have turning heads and raising eyebrows as i would romp on it anywhere i went. signature black lines painted all over the city streets of waco texas. priceless. big plans ahead. i'm stuck with her and she's stuck with me. i had her before my first girlfriend and still have her after my last :)
hell yeah the 1st gens are definitely my all time favorite muscle car, with close following on a 67 chevelle. I do body work for a living and in the process of helping a guy redo a 63 impala thats gonna be wicked. Had it off of the frame completely sand blasted and coated with some good ol rustoluem. He was thinking of buying a 383 but I told em he should go with a big block and put a 427 in that bitch. Alson doin a dudes 64 falcon thats gonna have a 347 stroker in it.
i had this real life experience with my chevy pick up it has 340000 miles and i was looking at new trucks , then i realized the old girl still runs like a top and there is nothing wrong with it ,needless to say im still rolling around in that truck and i wouldnt have it any other way , now excuse me while i go get some tissues.
this commercial makes me wanna cry! my first car(and still current car) is a 79' z28.
i took my dad to a chevy dealer the other day because he's looking to get a new ss, and it was kool and all, real nice, but at the end of the day, i enjoyed mine better.
The Z28 will have the LSA version of the supercharged 6.2 liter engine which is the same one used in the Caddy CTS-V. It is a milder version of the LS9 Corvette supercharged version. The LSA has 551 LB feet of torque at 3,800 RPM and 556 HP at 6,100 RPM. It has about 450 LB feet at only 2,000 RPM which will leave any Ferrari sitting at the lights. Yes, Virginia, there is a GOD.
they are around the same weight. definitely within 100 pounds. 2nd gen camaros are the heaviest camaros made being around 3600-3700 pounds. Im pretty sure the new camaro is around 3800
There's no way I would ever trade my 73z for a new Camaro. last sunday i was out cruising in the Z and I pulled into the chevy dealership where they had a new Camaro sitting. Looked it over and got talking to a sales rep, towards the end he asked if I would be interested in buying the new Camaro and i told him "for me to buy this one I would have to sell that one" he gave me a nod and understood. the new Camaros are nice, but you can never replace the memories.
It almost broke my heart when he tried to walk away from that classic. Might sound hokey but I know how it feels to leave a great classic behind because of circumstances beyond ones control. It's like loosing a friend and a lover. Be it a bad ass Camaro, or in my case a sedate '66 Mustang, it leaves a hole in the heart that is hard to fill. Some machines can get under your skin that way. Made me smile when he ran back to that Z28. Let's pray that Chevy brings back the venerated Z28.
I just sold my 1975 Camaro (modified 350 with a muncie m21, posi, duals etc) yesterday. I am putting a deposit on a new 2010 later this week... I FEEL like the guy in this video all the way to the bank! I WISH I could keep both, but I cannot... I feel for this guy, I feel sad my old one is going. No, we DON'T feel for the standard, daily drivers that we drive every day...but the Camaro represents more than just a car to get around. It's about how it makes you feel everytime you drive it-eB
sorry to burst your bubble but you wont have shit in 3 years lol. That vintage Camaro can go for as high as 60K USD and the 2010 for around 20-30K. Sorry, but unless you get your own house and buy both cars you wont have that driveway.
we have a bumble bee camaro 1973 z28 clone so we want a 2010 camaro also a bumble bee so the 1973 camaro has a big brother. also is there a real 2010 z28? i thought they had only 2ss. please tell me if there is. Thanks good job.
My father had that very same fox body 73 SS/RS with the split bumpers and a 4 on the floor Muncie gearbox with a Hurst short throw shift kit and man did that thing fly. Being only 3 years old at the time he had it, all I remember seeing was mom's hair all on my face from all the wind and that's how I knew pops was flyin down the highway. Sure wish he kept it but shit happens and at that time cars '69 and newer needed smog in calif. and aint no way that car was passin even if it had a prayer..
OMG!!! Me and my 76!!!! I'll buy a new one when my job renews their union contract. It will sit right beside my old one. I'll take turns driving them!!!
hahah!!! Awesome work. I would have to say I am a camaro lover and thats how i feel. I'm in love with the new camaro but I will always have a special love for my 1st camaro.
Awesome! Really reflects the love that people have for domestics. You wouldn't feel that way for a 30 year old toyota. An import would have had to be junked a long time ago.
One amazing commercial, that is for sure. It absolutely makes me want to buy both the classic camaro and the new one!!! I hope they run this add on the TV.
He'd be better off with the 70 Z28 it's worth more money. But the New Camaro is better than I thought it could be. It brings back a lot of memories for me, but now it just doesn't matter. They are all fast and they look amazing. Pick what you like and enjoy it . Maybe even save it for the future . They may not be around to long.
in my april 2009 motor trend magizine they had a drwaing of the new z/28 wich will have a 6.2L engine turbo charged and have 556 hp. The v6 model is 300hp! just as good as the '09 mustangs and there gay little 4.6L 286ci really small block engine.
i like the black camaro , the black camaro is memorie is times is another thing from these times (1970s) if you remember when we saw this car in the street and i think amazing! and for my this is the car! the black camaro!
i thought the SS would be the faster version of a camaro not a z28 why are they puttin so much power into a z28 for the 2010 or 2011 camaro? shouldnt the SS be the one wit all that power?
jdubb408 back in 67-68-69 the Z-28 was the top dog, it was built for racing, it had the DZ302ci small block which was factory rated at 290hp, but was actually around 400hp when dynoed. The 302 was created due to the cubic inch limitations in the Trans-Am racing series and the Camaro pretty much dominated in it's class. It also came with suspension and brake upgrades, as well as a functioning cowl induction hood. The SS models were more powerful, but they were more of a street/strip car.
LOL, My husband had explain to me why the pic / billboard of the new Camaro is on the side of a barn. -- because they had stopped making the camaro and if you wanted one, you usually find the older ones hidden away in someone's barn, garage, etc. and that's where you would find a camaro at. Now you don't have to look there anymore for one.
i have one just like that ecept its not a Z28 and its work in progress come check it out on my channle! cool video yah i wouldnt give up my camaro either the more the marier!
I'd take the 70...

Try in maybe 15 years at the earliest :P
But it is a fantanstic commerical.

Awesome! Really reflects the love that people have for domestics. You wouldn't feel that way for a 30 year old toyota. An import would have had to be junked a long time ago.

Jim4575 2 years ago
in my april 2009 motor trend magizine they had a drwaing of the new z/28 wich will have a 6.2L engine turbo charged and have 556 hp. The v6 model is 300hp! just as good as the '09 mustangs and there gay little 4.6L 286ci really small block engine.

i thought the SS would be the faster version of a camaro not a z28 why are they puttin so much power into a z28 for the 2010 or 2011 camaro? shouldnt the SS be the one wit all that power?
jdubb408 2 years ago
jdubb408 back in 67-68-69 the Z-28 was the top dog, it was built for racing, it had the DZ302ci small block which was factory rated at 290hp, but was actually around 400hp when dynoed. The 302 was created due to the cubic inch limitations in the Trans-Am racing series and the Camaro pretty much dominated in it's class. It also came with suspension and brake upgrades, as well as a functioning cowl induction hood. The SS models were more powerful, but they were more of a street/strip car.
04GT40th 2 years ago 2
They said the first run will be SS LS LT LTZ and next model year the line up will include the Z28 package.

grrrrtrude 3 years ago 5
LOL, My husband had explain to me why the pic / billboard of the new Camaro is on the side of a barn. -- because they had stopped making the camaro and if you wanted one, you usually find the older ones hidden away in someone's barn, garage, etc. and that's where you would find a camaro at. Now you don't have to look there anymore for one.
