@shanePHWOAR oh i dont know..perhaps the code switch ...would have been less of a pussy switching to netball..and before you preach me your AFL is the australian sport bullshit, no one in NSW or QLD cares
@speegz11 In comparison to Melbourne of course the fan base is smaller. But how could you possibly match it? I am a huge fan and I know a great deal of people beyond my social circle who appreciate the game. A swans game at ANZ nears capacity. Thats a huge stadium. NRL fails to pull half as many people on a prime time Friday night game as the MCG does on a Thursday night. But if you enjoy NRL thats great. But. Why don't you go watch NRL videos if you hate our game? Quite contradictory.
@notoroiusJOS1971, He kicked it from 60m out with at least two players with in a meter of him against the best AFL team of the past 4 seasons. Yes you are right, playing British bulldogs on a field totaling 100m in length takes a lot more skill.
I challenge all the knockers to grab a Sherrin and have a shot from outside 50. Even without game pressure you won't kick one. I'm a one eyed Carlton fan but I'm a fan of K's and this is a great goal. Great spot up from Rischitelli too ;)
Collingwood supporter but I went ape when he kicked that, Was sooo sick of Karmichael was copping that he wasant very good then he ripped that fkn pearler from outside 50 was soo happy for him
@NotoriousJOS1971 because he was originally a rugby player and AFL supporters are of the belief that NRL has no skill at all to be compared to AFL, as a rugby player naturally i think they are very wrong. this was hunt's first year in AFL.
@NotoriousJOS1971 It was his first goal and to put it in comparison it would be like a soccer player kicking a goal from over half way and if a soccer player did that i imagine he would celebrate as well.
@NotoriousJOS1971 But you obviously don't support rugby league then, that would make you a real idiot, considering the skills involved in that game I mean I played it for 8 years, and no real skill at all, anyone can play league.
From 53 meters out into a 6 meter wide gap, and the only reason he was unopposed is because he beat his opponent with speed and agility.
Moron, I don't understand how running into other players and smashing your way through them until the other group of morons make a defensive error and you can run through a gap and touch the ball on the ground...
Just a word to everyone here. Firstly, why do you have to take sides in sport? I'm a Kiwi through and through but I love Rugby, League, AFL, Cricket, all great sports that seem to split into factions despite all of them being amazing! I love them all, so should you, by supporting 2 sports doesn't mean your fave sport is going to die out!
And also, AFL players are bloody tough, and fit, and talented. As are the league boys, and the rugby boys, you can't be a pro without being tough, nuff said.
it doesnt matter wheather or not you like the great game of aussie rules or not, it dont matter if you dont like Hunt or if you do. either way, that was fucking great goal and thats all there is to it.
@JacobLi123 haha yeah. i'm actully into rugby, played aussie rules for a few years but moved to QLD and they don't have much AFL up here so i hit the weights and started playing rugby.
@nugngi LOL.. AFL is for pansys, lets see you run back with the flight of the ball. Eyes on the ball knowing that someone could be about to smash you in the head or knee you in the back, lets see you stand your ground. Walk away from this then you can call AFL for pansys.
a geelong player lost a kidney playing afl. nearly every single player has broken bones or torn ligaments or just done something bad. but oh no, afl is only for weak pansies. coming from people who wear 10 kilograms of padding and protection. ive never been less offended.
@MyLegend360 umm if your defence for me calling afl players weak and pansies is listing how bad injuries are in AFL then i must say that it's a pretty weak one. you're basicly saying AFL players get broken bones and torn ligaments but they aren't weak. do you see how that looks? don't worry i'm gonna pretend i didn't see this comment. when you think of a new defence get back to me and we will go from there ok kid? good.
You're a moron, it's the most physically demanding sport in the world, of course injuries are going to result. The sport pushes the limits every season, unlike the NRL, which is just bruisers running into each other until the other morons make an error and let them through to touch the ball to the ground..
They aren't weak, they are pushing their bodies and naturally they will get hurt on occasion. Fucking idiot.
@nathanstorm7 Aussie rules football is only the most physical demanding sport if you live under a rock. NRL may be bruisers running into each other but atleast they can do it over and over again with only 10 interchanges per game unlike GAYFL which has 10,000 each quarter. you get hurt in any and every sport, bodies are on the line in every sport.
i'm sure aussie footy will make it to the big stage in sport one day in the future but for now i'll stick with rugby.
AFL clubs don't interchange players based on toughness, they do it for the speed of the game. Players are refreshed more often and can play in bursts rather than tiring themselves out and coming off absolutely stuffed. It is more realistic for a 22 man team to have more interchanges anyway.
Stick with rugby all you like, Australian rules football doesn't need morons that don't understand the basic concept of how any sport other than 'thugby' is played.
@nathanstorm7 well atleast you were nice enough to admit aussie rules football is a basic game.
i could care less if australian football doesn't need me, you know why? because i don't need australian football. why would i need a sport that can't even make it onto an international level?
I didn't call it a basic sport, are you genuinely illiterate? I said do you understand the basic CONCEPT of it.
Man, you must have played a lot of rugby, how many penalties went to your team after you got hit in the head?
And as for my usage of the word 'need', just wow, do you not understand the English language either... Well, at least the AFL is making inroads in the northern states, there is a lot wrong other than sport up there.
@nathanstorm7 nah mate just a troller. you see i don't give a fuck if it's AFL NRL NFL NBA UFC A-LEAGUE, ICC. i just comment to suck dumb ass people like you into tiny dumb arguments that have no meaning and get them worked up over nothing, this whole time you swear at me, call me a moron, try and defend a sport you like. all i do is pretty much chuck in a few facts about a sport an say the opposite to you so i can get a reaction so me and my mates can sit here laugh at you. cheers bud. cya.
And UFC is the most moronic concept I've ever seen, if you honestly think it's worthwhile viewing, just jump off the top of a building and try to avoid the valid human beings down below
@MyLegend360 The fact that you say Rugby players wear 10kg of padding is kind of stupid considering over 70% of players don't wear padding at all, myself included. I have played both AFL and Rugby League and while AFL is tough in its' own rights (elbows, knees in the back, blindside tackles etc.) nothing meets the toughness of two massive forwards having a head on collision. That's what makes Rugby so appealing. The fact that you can go out there and put your body on the line every
@nugngi The VFL has since become the AFL, has the 3rd highest average attendance for a domestic sporting league in the world, holds the record for Australian sports broadcasting rights and with the grand final being the biggest annual sporting event in Australia? Brisbane Lions average attendance: 30,000 (Broncos 24,000), Melbourne Storm average attendance.... 12,000.
@mattwmercer if you watched him play all year you wouldn't make that comment, Karmichael deserved his spot in the starting side, he added aggression and players in other teams did not like having the ball when he was near by. He improved in every game and will next year probably play further up field as he gets his AFL body in tune
I'm a Cats man, but that goal just puts a smile on my face. How awesome was that! See how happy he was. That is what its all about. Here's to many more like that Huntmeister!
Karmichael Hunt needs to be played in the forward line for heaven's sake! Look how poorly Izzy started at GWS, couldn't even get a kick, now thats he's playing in attack he's on fire (he's booted hauls of 4,5,4 goals over the last 5-6 weeks)! Karmichael has a similar build and athleticism and has a massive kick as this goal shows!
EVERYONE CHECK MY YOUTUBE PAGE, I JUST UPLOADED TODAYS TRAINING SESSION AT WINDY HILL , IT WAS AN OPEN SESSION AND I GOT SOME EXCLUSIVE FOOTAGE, REMEMBER TO SUBSCRIBE AND LEAVE A COMMENT!
the way the roar of the crowd builds as the ball nears him in space and then the noise once he's kicked it tells you all you need to know about Footy on the GC. there is a place for it there and there is a solid base of support for a long term future there
@2MarkLecras That happened once in state of origin a few years ago, Ray Warren said "Here is Kunt, bringing it back" to find it search karmichael hunt LOL!
I know Hunt was initially signed as a marketing ploy but the fact is he is now playing in the AFL. That's just embarrassing for the sport. Hunt hardly played AFL in his junior years he played like 3-4 muck around games in a high school comp.
You're delusional thinking Barry Hall could play in the NRL with only 18 months of training. Because he's a thug you think he can play nrl? lol. That's like saying Ablett could play in the NBA if he trained baskbetball for a year. Won't ever happen.
@fourp1ay you don't need extensive training to learn the basics of the sport, his role on the team is not going to be the same as it was in rugby league where he could control a game, he'll just spoil, chase, tackle and if it comes to it attack and move the ball up the field.
I come from a league family, but also watch the other codes, and think its great to see Khunt doing so well in AFL, I prefer him there, then playing for the Maroons!
I don't see why there has to be such ill blood between the codes, I like watching all; syd fc, tahs, swans and souths. with so many nrl teams in a small area, you find half your friends go 4 a diff team, which is great! but its also good having them go for the same team Re syd fc, tahs, Swans. If you like sport you like sport!
Lol the hits on this clip are twice the number of any nrl crowd ...
All the rejects baggaing Khunt are jealous because hes out there and your sitting on your computers like a fadass nobody ..wishing you were one of these guys in front of huge crowds ..so back off trolls with no status at all LOL
I don't understand how can a guy in his first year of playing AFL can play in the top league. It would be like an AFL player switching to soccer then playing in the English premier league in his first year. Or going to play rugby then playing in the NRL in his first year. Is the standard of the AFL so bad that anyone can succeed that easy? Good athlete or not, I'm not playing NBA or NRL in my first year.
@fourp1ay Are you thick? Or just havn't thought this through? Hunt is a pure marketing ploy made by the AFL. You obviously don't live in an AFL state, as you would of heard by now people making fun of how crap Hunt is. Infact, he wouldn't be a good reserves player.
I'm sure guys like Barry Hall, Jono Brown etc, if recruited by the NRL would be playing in the NRL, not to a great level, but still...
Yes he may be a marketing ploy, but I believe he will be a valuable player player for the Suns. He's actually leading the comp in defensive spoils atm, which doesn't show up on the stats sheet, but is a very important part of the defensive side of the game. He's only going to get better the more he plays.
@fourp1ay Not like an AFL player switching to soccer at all, completely different sport compared to AFL vs NRL. Hunt played a full season of VFL last year and played the game a bit in his junior years. Good AFL players could quite easily play a position in NRL with almost 18 months training (like Hunt had for AFL), considering how straightforward rugby is.
Awesome, but he still has a looooooooooooooooooong way to go before being worthy of playing with the big boys I reckon. He shouldn't be playing on the big stage.
I go for Geelong and even I was wrapped that it happened. Defense is no place for him, he would play better on the ball then in defense, showed that against the cats.
Looks like he did it pretty easy? Does he usually play around that spot or is he supposed to be defense somewhere? If he can kick it that easy from 50, why not move him into a position where he can do it more?
That goal was amazing. I'm a Rugby League fan through and through, but I've been watching Karmichael with interest since he switched codes and am very happy for him. He's a young bloke having a go, and to drop everything he had going for him in League and switch codes was brave. Also, if things don't work out, he can go back to Rugby League or Union and still be in his mid 20's. Not bad.
awesome kick. Hardly any first grade games and he could outkick half of the first graders with an amateur technique. @MrStinkyWilson, are you serious. I think you hate being proven wrong that an NRL star could aver make it in the AFL and hes proving you wrong. Iva had to swallow my pride and accept that hes on his way. There is no conspiracy to promote the game: hundreds of thousands in gambling money has been put on this game.
He needs to let the ball drop closer to the ground so he can kick through the ball. Then he'll probably be able to kick it 80 meters with those legs!! Nice goal nonetheless.
AFL players have more courage than League players.IE ,Getting hit without knowing whats coming takes courage.Just because League players have bigger bodies doesn't mean it's a tougher game dipshit!!
@SneffySneff - Why are you even watching this then? I love how all these league people bag our game and bag Hunt..but yet they read every article and place comments. I couldnt give a two sh*ts about league and would never read and article or video..let alone comment on one. If you hate the game so much then why are you paying attention to it? GO SUNS!!!

He improved in every game and will next year probably play further up field as he gets his AFL body in tune
RiseUpGoldCoastSuns 5 months ago
@RiseUpGoldCoastSuns I've seen him play in the centre, he played really well. Scary man to be next to if you have the ball.

Karmichael has a similar build and athleticism and has a massive kick as this goal shows!

the way the roar of the crowd builds as the ball nears him in space and then the noise once he's kicked it tells you all you need to know about Footy on the GC. there is a place for it there and there is a solid base of support for a long term future there

@2010Ajholmes That's wrong, ablett signed a contract for $10million over 5 years. That's 2million a year, not counting tax.

@cryingmushroom47 exactly! that other guy is a dipshit!
goldensurfer16 8 months ago
@2010Ajholmes .... Ablett 2mil a year. Hunt 700k
daw0005 9 months ago
I know Hunt was initially signed as a marketing ploy but the fact is he is now playing in the AFL. That's just embarrassing for the sport. Hunt hardly played AFL in his junior years he played like 3-4 muck around games in a high school comp.
You're delusional thinking Barry Hall could play in the NRL with only 18 months of training. Because he's a thug you think he can play nrl? lol. That's like saying Ablett could play in the NBA if he trained baskbetball for a year. Won't ever happen.
fourp1ay 9 months ago
@fourp1ay There is an aussie who played American football, after on year he got signed to a NFL team.
It doesn't take much to play Rugby, so really.... anyone can do that.
cryingmushroom47 9 months ago
@fourp1ay you don't need extensive training to learn the basics of the sport, his role on the team is not going to be the same as it was in rugby league where he could control a game, he'll just spoil, chase, tackle and if it comes to it attack and move the ball up the field.
wiki001 8 months ago
@fourp1ay
No AFL fan wants australian football players to play rugby league.
Why would they want to get paid less?
even Union players earn more for playing for the wallabies.
Seethus 6 months ago
Geez, there would be a lot of AFL players that would give their left nut to kick a goal like that.
Roisterer 9 months ago
I come from a league family, but also watch the other codes, and think its great to see Khunt doing so well in AFL, I prefer him there, then playing for the Maroons!
I don't see why there has to be such ill blood between the codes, I like watching all; syd fc, tahs, swans and souths. with so many nrl teams in a small area, you find half your friends go 4 a diff team, which is great! but its also good having them go for the same team Re syd fc, tahs, Swans. If you like sport you like sport!
Jamybeans 9 months ago
Lol the hits on this clip are twice the number of any nrl crowd ...
All the rejects baggaing Khunt are jealous because hes out there and your sitting on your computers like a fadass nobody ..wishing you were one of these guys in front of huge crowds ..so back off trolls with no status at all LOL

@bee29yrsold.... Karmichael's probably watched it 20,000 times (lol).

Good athlete or not, I'm not playing NBA or NRL in my first year.
fourp1ay 9 months ago
@fourp1ay Are you thick? Or just havn't thought this through? Hunt is a pure marketing ploy made by the AFL. You obviously don't live in an AFL state, as you would of heard by now people making fun of how crap Hunt is. Infact, he wouldn't be a good reserves player.
I'm sure guys like Barry Hall, Jono Brown etc, if recruited by the NRL would be playing in the NRL, not to a great level, but still...
plummer89 9 months ago
@plummer89
Yes he may be a marketing ploy, but I believe he will be a valuable player player for the Suns. He's actually leading the comp in defensive spoils atm, which doesn't show up on the stats sheet, but is a very important part of the defensive side of the game. He's only going to get better the more he plays.
Watch this space!
dmcguire70 9 months ago
@fourp1ay Not like an AFL player switching to soccer at all, completely different sport compared to AFL vs NRL. Hunt played a full season of VFL last year and played the game a bit in his junior years. Good AFL players could quite easily play a position in NRL with almost 18 months training (like Hunt had for AFL), considering how straightforward rugby is.
piepackage2 9 months ago
@fourp1ay an AFL player would definitely be suited to keeper.

I go for Geelong and even I was wrapped that it happened. Defense is no place for him, he would play better on the ball then in defense, showed that against the cats.
cryingmushroom47 9 months ago
Looks like he did it pretty easy? Does he usually play around that spot or is he supposed to be defense somewhere? If he can kick it that easy from 50, why not move him into a position where he can do it more?

jordanrocket1 9 months ago
That goal was amazing. I'm a Rugby League fan through and through, but I've been watching Karmichael with interest since he switched codes and am very happy for him. He's a young bloke having a go, and to drop everything he had going for him in League and switch codes was brave. Also, if things don't work out, he can go back to Rugby League or Union and still be in his mid 20's. Not bad.
raging78 9 months ago 52
great goal, it's good to see his kicking getting better. i hope he resigns after his contract is up
stixable 9 months ago
awesome kick.

A 60 metre drop punt that he didn't try and belt. An amazing kick. What a first goal, from outside 50. Loves it!

GO SUNS!!!
