Linda and Patrick aged the best out of all of them, didn't they? Charlene and Ken and Ken look ok (though Ken looks like he puffed up). Larry looks ok, all things considered. But poor Victoria. What the hell?
And who was the letter Booby reading from? I couldn't get the name...
Jim Davis - and Jock Ewing - two of the GREATEST men ever! Dallas lost something when Jim passed and it was never the same (though still quite good!). Jock built an empire - a company worth $2 billion - left to those he loved the most - to Ellie Southworth Ewing (10%), John Ross (JR) Ewing, Jr. (35%); Bobby James Ewing (35%); Garrison (Gary) Southworth Ewing (10%); & Ray Krebbs Ewing (10%). His 4 sons each left $10 million, with $50 million, Southfork & vast buiness/land holdings to Ellie.
Fact: Jim Davis and Victoria Principal were very close because she beared a strong resemblance to his only Child/Daughter who died in a terrible car accident yrs before. When he was buried in his wallet were a picture if Jim's daughter and a picture Of Victoria Principal. I cant imagine working with such a great actor and with a great actress like Barbara Bel Geddes! I love the Ewing family. Never got tired of them. The Carringtons were a joke! LMAO
I am very happy Victoria Principal came back for this reunion. Almost like Bobby and Pam were back on Southfork for good. I wonder if Ted Shackleford and Joan Van Ark laughed that even when it came to a reunion show for Dallas that Gary and Valene were again excluded from the Ewing family... lol
Jim Davis was the John Wayne of Television. For a charactor whoo passed on early in the series his Talented Portrayal of Jock Ewing was the glue that Kept DALLAS together!
I dont think I will ever found 2 great parrents like those... You wouldnt think it is an act ... is like they were there as they natural parrents. R.I.P. Jock & Ellie
The Lucy and Rey character's must have felt awfull, when they learned they were family, when if came out Rey was Jock's Son. Remember Rey and Lucy had a romance in the early days of season 1. Plus that Issue was forgotten and never was brought up between them.
When he died he had a picture of his wife his daughter and a picture of Victoria Principal, due to her uncanny resemblance of hsi only child who was killed in a car accident. That is why VP and he were so close.
Whatever Jock was he was never a thief. He had to deal with his drunken brother and a drunken best friend who sold their shares of Ewing to Wallace Windham. Jock bought their shares back within a few years. In fact Jock protected Digger from Jason. Digger was basically bitter toward Jock for stealing Ellie away from him. After that he needed to focus in on his hate and Lied about Jock stealing the oil. Also remember Digger murdered Pam's real father so he was a drunk and a murderer.
Jock was a man who worked hard and loved his family very much. I also admired Miss Ellie because she had a way of putting you in your place in such a way that you don't even realize it until after the fact. I remember when Jock had his Heart Attack in Year 1, and Miss Ellie reminded Sue Ellen that nobody was "taking over", not while she was alive.
As far as Miss Elie goes. Never piss her off. Boy, when she was pissed, she let ya know it. I think Digger acknowledged once that Miss Ellie would be nice one day, and when she got mad. She had a shotgun. Or something along those lines. R.I.P Barbara Bel Geddes.
Yeah, Digger said she had one hell of a temper. Sweet one moment, then go off like a shotgun the next. Well something along those lines. He mentioned it in the Miniseries episode called "Barbecue."
I loved Jock,he was so tough and fair.he was one in a million, same goes for Miss Ellie.she was the glue that kept the Ewings together after Jock's death.Dallas was a great show!!!
I loved this program. Jock was piece of shit, and it rubbed off on J.R. Larry Hagman is an amazing actor. He played a character that was stuffy, paranoid, humorless, vindictive, manipulative, and a champion grudge holder.
I don't know how he played J.R. all those years without getting an ulcer.
Jock felt he had to prove himself because he came from nothing. Also, remember in the books Miss Ellie married him on the rebound when things went sour between her and Digger and because she had financial problems, and were it not for Jock, she may have lost Southfork. I would like to know did Jock really steal from Digger financially.
I always wanted to know as well if Jock really stole from Digger. I'm a bigtime Dallas fan. And I have to confess, I was more sympathetic towards Digger & Cliff Barnes. I liked the Barnes because they were the preverbial underdogs to the Mighty Ewings. And all the shit JR gave to Cliff over the years. All the more I sided w/ the Barnes.
Yeah, at least that loser finally got what he wanted at the end. Being CEO of Ewing Oil finally. Once your boy J.R. fucked up finally. I wonder if you seen the series finale of Dallas. When Carter McKay set J.R. up. Thinking he was the new CEO of Westar Oil. But in realty, they screwed him. And Cliff got what he wanted by finally running Ewing Oil. W/o J.R. owning a % of the company. Not bad for a loser.
And by the way NWAfan. At least with these losers I like goes. At least in Cliff's defense, he took his defeats at the hands of the Ewings with dignity. With the exception of when he tried to overdose on tranquilizers and booze when J.R. screwed him a dry hole Cliff thought there was a lot of oil and married Sue Ellen the second time around. But even then, he didn't die. Coming back from defeat after defeat.Until finally he got the last laugh. You have to admire Cliff's persistence.
Yeah, after Cliff sold Ewing Oil back to Bobby back "J.R. Returns". I think Cliff went back to Louisiana to get back together with Afton and his daughter. He felt like family life was more important than being an oil exec. But nevertheless, I do like the underdog. And the Barnes did certainly embodied that role.
And by the way, I don't hate all the Ewings. I like Bobby. Even when he knocked J.R's lights out half of the time. I also liked Miss Ellie, Gary out in Knots Landing, and Jock. It was J.R I hated the most. But again, it was J.R. who gave the Ewing name a bad wrap. And by the way, wasn't it J.R. who lost Ewing Oil? Because of his affiliations with that terrorist B.D Calhoun? It was only when Bobby and the help of a sexy D.C lobbyist in which they got the Ewing Oil name back.
He never did. He Digger and Jason were all original partners in Ewing Oil during the depression. When Jamie Ewing found that document the Barnes took Ewings to court and it was later revealed that in fact Jock Ewing did buy there shares out and held on to Ewing Oil for almost a year in the great depression taking financial losses before the Ewings struck in Rich in the 30's
The clips of Jock (Jim Davis) are really emotional. He was the one in charge of the family and it is a shame he died. What a brilliant actor, he always kept JR and Bobby in line. Rest in peace Jim and Barbara.
Excellent Remembrance thanks for posting! I have all 13 seasons on tape I recorded back in 1997, I'm afraid I'm missing 5-10 episodes from that, but it still gets me through!
I really like Jim Davis and Barbra Bel Geddes No One could play Jick & Miss Ellie better than they did I coudnt beleve that both of them died and hope all of them rip
I absolutely LOVE Jim Davis...He was one of a kind and Jock really was such a spark for the show...and who didn't fall in love with Babara Bell Geddes...she really was the heart of Dallas for me
It was actually four seasons. The first season was in earily '78, its second year was '78-'79. And yes, Jim Davis was a true spark to the show when it started.
