Of course you will have to be dressed sufficiently anytime you're walking near or on a road wide enough for a motor vehicle or near a permanent settlement (even some backwoods group campgrounds)...
Socks, Shoes, a hat, sunglasses, a pair of shorts with no underwear, a shirt with no undershirt or bra, and maybe a scarf if you want to wipe the sweat off of your brow.
So if you wish or prefer to hike nude on that day (within reason), before you pack up and head out on the trail that day you can probably pack up EVERYTHING except for...
...except on the day of the summer solstice (the longest sunlit day of the year in the northern hemisphere)...on that day...tradition states (to some degree) that through hikers hike nude on that day.
You will need to keep your shoes and socks on regardless of the terrain or weather, but other than that you probably won't need more than a pair of shorts with no underwear, and a shirt with no undershirt. A hat and sunglasses are your choice.
Would love to to hike the AT with her!!!! People like this make me laugh cause tell they just spent some major coin at REI. See people like that all the time on the AT...they typically don't finish a thru hike LOL.
I recommend going to Walmart and getting a $1 black plastic garden trowel like the one I took on my A.T. thru-hike. It is much more durable than the $4-$5 orange one ziponecanada has here. The ground on the trail is a matrix of root saturated rotting leaf that is very hard to dig through and I found the walmart trowel to work much more effectively without breaking, like two of my previous orange backpacking trowels did.

With you acting like such a "-19090" here, it's hard to imagine you using your stick or hiking pole to do anything else other than verbally violate people with it.
Sliding down boulders at Mahoosic Notch wore down the bottom of my hiking pants. Good idea to invest in a durable pair for the whole AT. I had to stitch my pants 2x in the 100 mile wilderness. It was quite windy back there with a 6" rip. Check the zippers and top button. My fly zipper was thin & made out of cheap plastic. It became damaged & jumped track. I had to tear off the zipper end just to get it started again. The snap button broke in NJ. No complaints about the price--it was a gift.
It seems like you tried hard to share your knowledge on the hiking clothes. Unfortunately, your audio drops out every thirty seconds or so, making much of the video unintelligible.
For most of the hike, I wouldn't recommend any footwear with goretex in it. It just gets too hot. Your feet are going to be sweating a lot anyway. Goretex's fabled powers of breathability are seriously overrated. Consider Goretex footwear for when the temperature drops below freezing . Then, it will be keep your feet warmer.
Very light weight hiking boots, hiking shoes, or trail running shoes are the best.
Yep, use a stuff sack for a pillow. Don't carry a pillow.
Seconded. I hike in GoLite Sun Dragon II trail runners. Keep your pack weight down and they are super comfortable, breathable, and dry much quicker than Gore-Tex.
In some of the "DEEP, DEEP" sections you can probably walk nude for miles without seeing more than 10 people in both directions.
I've never done a FULL hike, but I have done a few day trips (nude).

as an experienced hiker I can say that gear doesn't matter at all. If you are good at hiking you can walk Appalachian Trail with nothing.

That darkblue Helly Hansen LIFA baselayer tanktop isn't very comfortable because it pricks.
I think it has silver-yarn in it.
Try Arcteryx Phase SV or SL bottoms and tops...they are great but expensive.
Is it a whistle or a firestarter around your neck?
