These effects are no longer around, they were further improved towards the end of Apocrypha and now completely different in Dominion.

I wish they had kept the warp and weapon effects, except that pulse lasers looked so weak in the pre-release. Also cloaking is ugly and sensor boosting is just overwhelming.

You can use Shield maintenance drones in order to help friend regenerate his shields... specifically speaked the guy who mainly tanks rats ( NPC's )... i dont think shield RR is being used often in pvp

I just started this game 3 days ago. I've been playin mmos for 4 years now and in all, after a while (2 years with world of warcraft) I became bored. This game looks like a "For real" game. stargate sg1 showed the way for better shields than star trek. I want to play this game but its hard to understand the economy side of things.....I just want to fly a ship! ...star charts are hard to follow to..... mmmm perhaps  i need another crack at it.. Good video, looks nice the effects etc.

Actually they quit the bubble shield effect in the last ST: Nemesis movie - The Enterprise is surrounded by a nice skin tight shield. In theory such shield would have "a gradient of resistance" rather than being a wall of energy. So it would gradually dissipate the energy of a weapon as its beam would cut its way to the ship's hull.

This patch went live and none of the new weapon effects went into the game. I'm extremely pissed because I was looking forward to the effects I saw in this video but there are no where to be found. I really hope they are still working on them and implement them in a patch soon.

Yeah my bad, the weapon effects need bloom enabled in order to see the full new effect. The change to set colors didn't carry into release so lasers still shoot the color of the spectrum ammo you use and rails are based on ammo as well.

Its one of eve's greatest strengths. Community is a huge part of eve, and as you can see from the kind of support I got from my videos, its something rarely found in games these days, if at all. The one consecutive server helps promote this, so anyone who plays eve, wont be like "man I wish I played on the same server as that cool Minerpewpew guy" cause were all in the same place, then can send me a convo, or a mail =)

Ok, so Apocrypha is live on TQ now, and I have new effects, but nothing that looks like this. Are the TQ effects just really buggy, or is it because I am using XP (no DX10) with a radeon x1600 vid card (although I do have the graphics cranked to the max)?

the point of this game is to play everyone on one server at one time. Really eve is one giant mother server with the individual systems serving as the multiple server(ex.NOL-99) but if its not your thing you can always go play WOW with the 8 year olds....

Theres only so good a pilot can be in a ship, once you train all your skills relating to a certain ship to V you cant improve any further, also its diminishing returns, I am training at the moment 35 days for a 2% increase in weapon damage, when I began, 35 days would be about a 55% increase in weapon damage.

If you began now, you would be as good as the best in battleships within a year.

And very competitive in the easy ones within 2 months. Differences being a few %.

yes, wouldn't a 'star-trek-like' shield 'bubble' impair firing out as well as protecting against incoming?

So the latest ship-hugging effect makes more sense (although presumbly, the only weak spot for an opponent to target would be the shield 'aperture' which enables firing out through - negligible compared to the area covered by the rest of the sheild?). ;)

Hull repairer effects are very similar to armor repairer effects but only with yellow sparkles.

IMO these are just minor tweaks.. i was expecting massive post effects and blurs etc the way they were selling it. Why does a warping ship STILL have no motion blur??. I guess its an improvement.. but i guess i was hoping for something amazing that would strain my graphics card :)
