  • I think the idea of hosting a meditation event in a stadium is nice. However, you cannot simply set this up from scratch without any preparation work. Things should start on a smaller level. Having a regular local meeting with friends who meditate, then networking with other groups in the regional area who share similar interests. And from that momentum, from that strength that is derived from the community, you are then able to set up such an event, because you obtain the necessary resources.

  • What about an empty (not used) church building?

Where I live church buildings are everywhere, would want a group meditation place without having to drive 100 miles to get there.

  • contact the New York Yankees ;)

and while you're at it, call the Chinese, one could be done before the olympics!

  • that's a great idea! i wonder how one would go about looking into that... are you in touch with the seattle vipassana community? (sounds like it) i'm sure the arenas must have a public relations sort of person or even an events manager who could be a contact for you. keep us posted!

  • what about the superdome??????????

  • that´s a brilliant idea me thinks... i cant make any useful comments as to how realistic it would be because i have no knowledge of that type of stuff...

i am not sure if they will start to be used how you are saying just yet.. thought it would be amazing. i am quite sure however, that eventually, they will start to be used like that. would be nice to start sooner rather than later, but using those facilities for large scale meditation will be inevitable one day!

  • I think it would be easy to get arenas for mediation meetings as the owners like to keep their buildings busy. However, it might be expensive as they won't see a lot of business at the concession stands.

I have never really tried mediation.

  • Yes, those venues are expensive, hadn't thought of that. Definitely no hotdog/beer sales for the meditators. I'm sure something could be arranged to meet the compensation.

Meditation is something innate in everyone. The simpler, the better. I looked around, and tried a few things at first. Vipassana is a very pure and universally fundamental method.

  • University/college arenas might be an option.
