Man your stuff looks like CRAP. All those wires coming out from everywhere, no table cloth, you sound like Marble Mouth. When are you going to start playing "The Good Music"? Again your set up looks so tacky, clean it up! Nice playing music with Cussing(AZZ), very pro.
I've played at my uncles house once and that's probably the last time i'll play there. Simply because I do not play the kind of music they like. I'm more of a club/rave dj and that's not what they listen to. Nothing wrong with the music they like....but that's just not me
Thanks for posting this video, every little bit of info helps for me. Specially for my friend who is retiring this July 2010. He wants me to host his party in the back of his yard. This would be my very first professional gig. I'm kind of nervous. But what the hick, most of those people showing up are my friends anyway. I shouldn't have problems playing any kind of music...lol...
Nice to hear from you and thanks for the comment. Dont be nervous, just remember all the practice at home you did. Do not play all your best songs early, space them out and keep attention until you get to dance time (unless you are starting late!) and if you take requests, and you do not have one, rather than say you do not have it, tell them you will play it if you have it. remember this tidbit when you do bigger paid gigs,a DJ takes requests, not demands when they are drunk and lol Good luck!
I did a wedding gig and NO ONE danced. It was horrible! I was really stressed out, and I felt like I did a crapy job. At the end of the gig, lots of people came up to me and said they had a great time and loved the music I played. I got tipped $200!!! The bride told me after that the crowd didnt really dance, they just liked to sit and drink
Yea, thats what experience does, and people trip about paying a decent rate. They think a ipod and speakers and someone to push play is all they need for a great party. A Dj is also a master of ceremonies they forget. They were lucky to have you there.
I feel your pain dude. People book the DJ then tell them how to do their job! Then of course guess who gets blamed when things don't turn out great! Respect.
another comment, the music was there the firewater was there it needed younger folks that really love to party, the woman are dancing wtf happen to the guys? maybe that was the client's other rule no man dancing! well maybe at the end they did dance , but i think it was a low turn out, needed more folks.
Yea, I agree brother, If I hire a someone to build me a deck, I am not going to tell him not to use power saws, why do some clients think they can tell a Dj not to use some of his tools,?
wow it looks to me like your client did not wanted "lets see how would i put it! BLACK MUSIC" (maybe) i could see by the change in genre the results. tough gig..
Oh, I know, I should have just kicked it in earlier and when they saw the result on the dance floor, They would have learned sooner. Live and you learn Thanks for commenting!
good equipment but that party sucked. like others have said before, i hope you got paid alot, for a guy like that, i would just be thinking dollar signs** dj d3v1c3 from san antonio **
Yes it did, I told myself after that one that all future clients will be told that I will control the music, not them if they want there guests happy! Shout out to San Antonio from Chi-Town!
wtf lol dam i wouldnt even bother doing that gig holly shit they where better of bumping there home stereo for that! dead ass party must be out in the east coast? in a small town with a population of 300 ? lol
Dam you're good!! Went to the burbs for that one, slow that week. They learned their lesson from their guest feeback I heard, I booked two future gigs from that one!! Let the Dj do his job< and all will be well
Thats the only thing I hate about dj' n , when a customer tell you to play a certain music group , but the crowd or guest don;t want to hear that , and it make you look bad in the long run. Good job switching things up. I am dj from chi-town also. Keep doing what you do !! Dj Antoine !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep, exactly BigRon! They forget the reason theyn are having a party in the first place, TO ENTERTAIN THEIR FRIENDS! Then they ask you why no one is dancing, They learned!
