  • This is hilarious!

  • i was able to say danny kayes and bing crosbys lines at 1:45-2:00

  • Oh, brother, what dimwits, Lunamaie! As a fan of both films, their stars, their emotions, this does nothing but do honour do everyone involved.

And on a more scholarly note: old Hollywood films are full of covert allusions (sometimes very tongue in cheek) to homoeroticism and gender vagaries. They may or may not be present in "White Christmas" but but by piecing this together you make light of that.

  • just so you know I hate you for this video

  • Who cares whether Danny Kaye was straight, gay or bisexual? Compared to all of the great things he did, his sexuality is unimportant. Actor, singer, dancer & comedian. He was a husband & a father. Knew how to fly his own plane. Donated to many charities & was really involved with UNICEF. Not only was he a long time fan of the Dodgers, but he also was the original owner of the Seattle Mariners. TRUELY an AWESOME GUY & his sexuality had nothing to do with it. RIP DANNY (1913 –1987)

  • Excellant. What program did you use to change the title of the film?

  • LOL! This is terrific. I'll never watch "White Christmas" the same way again.

  • you're fucked. this is absolutely sick. leave the innocence of this era alone!!!

  • @mardawg12 Language.

  • Hilarious - very well done. Some of the comments here are astonishing. Some people have such little minds

  • This is the most disgusting thing I have EVER seen. Such a cut to the movie too. You are looking thru perverted eyes! By the way, Danny Kaye wasn't gay, his wife and daughter even told the public. Might have been bi-sexual, but most CERTAINLY NOT GAY! This is the worst video ever and I cannot BELIEVE that someone would have such and idea to do this! This is a classic...not a modern repulsive love story!

  • @MissYoungClassic Are you saying gay love is repulsive?! Never mind that this is just a funny fanvid, your view on such things is troubling...

  • @spiderorchid81 I am indeed saying it is repulsive because it is not the way it was meant to be.

And to use a classic movie for a funny fanvid. Use something else instead of this wonderful and timeless classic.

  • @MissYoungClassic Relax, it's just a movie. It's not as if someone vandalized a da Vinci painting.

Anyway, of course I respect your opinion, I just think 'repulsive' is a much too strong adjective. Well, there are many more traditional fanvids for Kaye and / or classic movies on youtube, so I'm sure you'll find something that you'll like better. ^_^

  • I LOVE it!

  • This is awesome - I bet there aren't too many people that have seen both of these movies - and this was a great joke. You know, the more Bing Crosby movies I watch, the more I see him cross-dressing and dropping the word "fruit" a lot. Probably nothing there - and I don't care if there is either way. But again, this is very funny. Well done.

  • Lame

  • What I meant was I didn't find your VIDEO funny, amusing, or interesting. Also, a comment made by dancer5612004 re: the "boy girl boy girl" comment made by Kaye at the table (and on the train) when they meet the girls...obviously you've never seen the movie through. The whole storyline was to get Bing married off so that Kaye could take time off from the show. Apparently many of you missed the point. Why do people think its funny to push the envelope to find something gay in everything?

  • Frankly I didn't find anything in these clips or the movie for that matter that would lead someone to infer something gay something gay in it. I didn't find it funny, amusing, or interesting, just questionable. The movies back then were story driven, better written, directed and acted, then anything we'll have to look back on from the last 20 years that I've grown up with. Btw, the comment re: Kaye/Olivier, Kaye denied vehemently. No matter, he was one hell of an entertainer.

  • why would you totally FUCK WITH A GOOD MOVIE LIKE THIS??!!?!?!!!?!?!

  • This is so delightfully funny!

  • Comment removed

  • Some of you people need to lighten the hell up. It's a joke and well edited.

  • i don't know what all the fuss is Danny kaye was bi or gay , maybe he would smile if he saw this . and bing as much as i love his music was a piece of work . lighten up , great thank you

  • This just goes to show how social standards for men and women have changed so drastically in the last 50 years. Nowadays, any male triple threat is bombarded with "Brokeback" jokes. This movie was made when talent was appreciated and considered just as masculine as that of an athelete. Women still swoon over Bing's voice. And I'd appreciate a little more respect for the gay community as well, thank you. I don't see the humor in calling something or someone gay in a mocking way.

  • *applauds* Wonderful editing! (I like it better than the Brokeback TopGun) I love these two guys. Always have and always will. I think you highlight their close friendship and brotherly love for each other than actual lovers. Bravo on a fantastic video!

  • Wow... REALLY well done!

  • danny kaye was bi, he had an affair with laurence oliver.

  • I loved it! I've seen a lot of "brokeback" vids on youtube, but never one like this. Awesome!

  • You are a complete and total idiot. To take this film and twist it into that... It's just dumb!!

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with gay people, but seriously, you should delete this video from YouTube and your computer.

  • Just a shame. To take a classic like this and even remotely compare it to Brokeback Mountain. It was truly a bond of brotherhood they shared.

  • I'll admit I gave it a thought when watching this movie, but what triggered it was Danny Kay's several comments on the situation of sitting at the table with the female dates. "Isn't this more cozy? Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl?" And not just once. It's called vibe, not outright forwardness. History has many homosexual events without contact or verbal love. Don't get me started.

  • homophobic? what does the disrespect of these two wonderful men have to do with homophobic? you're an idiot!

  • It was clever editing, I'll give you that.

  • I can't believe how many people seem to think that this is directed intentionally at the actors rather than the roles they were playing. It also doesnt give any hint of suggesting homosexuality, but more how the two have developed a close bond that is akin to brotherhood rather than lovers.

I thought it was a good piece of editing, although the bit where bing is saying something will cost "wow" amount of money, somewhere just below "boing", would have been better to have the actual words.

  • I find it sad that so many people are so homophobic that they can't see the fun in a little editing job I did of my favorite film ever. It's a shame that people think that something as simple as this little video is somehow disgracing these two wonderful talented men.

  • thank you lunamaie i agree with you 100 % thanks

  • @Lunamaie Excellent. What program did you use to change the title of the film?

  • @Lunamaie

Why do people still think that it's an insult to say a man is gay? It's not. I think this video is cute.

  • I think that was the most ridiculous thing I have watched in my whole life. Just the fact that you can sit and pick apart an amazing video like this one and two amazing actors like these two completely baffles me. I dont know if you posted this beacuse your jealous that you will never be able to sing act and or dance like these two or what but its a complete shame. The fact that my generation will never even have one person as talented as these two is terrible, but to make fun of them, wow!

  • I think its ironic you used Danny Kaye.. since he was gay.

  • haha yes. I still would marry him any day though lol :)

  • Well, at least bisexual. We can't know if his wife was a "beard" or not.

  • bi, you mean.

  • @1987whipper It's ironic that you say this, since that was "gossip" from yesteryear and you believe it.

  • HILARIOUS!

  • Please....., these guys were in show business and for a lot of years. From everything I ever read about Bing, whatever his shortcomings, he had a great sense of humor. He probably would get a kick out of it! Hilarious! I'm a huge fan of the movie, the composer, and the actors. Good, clever fun.

  • Oh, really nice! Very well done. And sweet, too.

You should do Bing and Bob next. I think they kiss at least twice in the Road series. :)

  • It's not that I object to homosexuality... it's just wrong to mess with a classic film like that. You did a great job with the editing and all.... and I know it was in fun... but geez. Have some respect...

  • that is absolutely horrible.

    but it's SOOOOOOOOOOO funny. LOLLLL

  • Apart from speculating if Kaye and / or Crosby where gaye or not (who cares, anyway?) -

    Great work! Very funny!

And I always watched "White Christmas" with that "subtext" in mind. I mean, they used lines like "I must have left it in my girdle." ^_^

    Keep the good work going!

  • I think the line, "I must have left it in my girdle" was a joke if you consider that Kaye's character had worn some girlish things for the show to cover for the real dancers\singers. You people need help; there is no subtext of homosexuality, and I get tired of people messing with a classic film that was clearly intended not to be conveyed that way. If you can't respect a film like this, LEAVE IT ALONE! sheesh.

  • First: I know it's a joke - I was making an ironic comment here.

Second: There are a lot more subtexts in life than you think - especially books/movies etc. that were created in a time were homosexuality was even more frowned on than today.

Third:Nobody's messing with the movie - the video is a joke and appreciating it is no show of disrespect.

It is very sad that there are still people who associate homosexuality with insult. Grow up.

  • You said it, Spider! Why does everyone assume that saying something or someone is gay is insulting?

  • One should think that civilization has outgrown this old prejudices by now...

On the other hand: today there are popular books and movies with gay characters, openly gay politicians and artists, some positive political developments - there's hope.

  • @spiderorchid81

I agree with everything you say here. I think the movie has all sorts of gay subtext and I think Danny Kaye knew it too. After all, he was queer himself.

  • @issyvoo2 Or at least bi... we'll never know for sure, but from what I've seen of his movies and tv appearances, he liked to play with gender stereotypes and it's possible that some of the subtext in "White Christmas" was indeed the result of his acting decisions. I'm still puzzled about how violent some people here reacted to this pretty harmless vid... (they'd probably faint if they ever heard of something called "slash" fandoms ~_^ ).

  • @spiderorchid81

I think he probably was bi which is why I called him "queer." We're not sure if he was gay or bi but we know he wasn't straight. I agree that the subtext was probably partly due to his choices. If you want to hear a great tale about gay subtext, watch what's said about Ben Hur in The Celluloid Closet.

  • @issyvoo2 I agree. ^_^

Oh yes, I've seen that documentary, it was very interesting, but thanks for the recommendation anyway!

  • ROTFLMAO...! Of course you know, Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby are rolling in their graves... Keep up the good work!

  • This one had me in stitches...great work..now work on one with Bert and Ernie, and Big Bird and Snufulupigus or however the heck you spell it. Great Work

  • Fantastic!! ha nice work

  • What the... ?!?!?

Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye were both very, very straight. Why anyone would even think otherwise is beyond me.

They were friends, nothing more nothing less. Leave a good thing alone already.

  • Danny Kaye carried on a 10 year long relationship with Laurence Olivier. Or not.

  • A) It's a joke

    and

    B) Danny Kaye was not "very, very straight." In fact, his long-time affair with Laurence Olivier -- and open secret in Hollywood -- led to the end of Olivier's marriage to Vivien Leigh.

  • @Prowler323: "Joan Plowright, Olivier's widow, denies the affair with Kaye in her memoir but does not deny that Olivier may have been bisexual"

  • Destroyed by homosexuality or destroyed by ignorant fag hag wannabes like yourself?

  • You must mean destroyed by ignorant fag hag wannabes like yourself!

  • It was a parody, lighten up! Bing Crosby was straight, he beat up his kids. A Gay father would not do that!

  • Danny Kaye was gay and did have a long-term relationship with Olivier, who talks about it in his autobiography. Why should it be so horrible that he was gay?

This video is just for fun. I enjoyed it! Don't take it so seriously.

  • Danny Kaye was married to Sylvia....

  • Yes, Danny Kaye was married to Sylvia Fine, and Laurence Olivier was married to Jill Edmonds, Vivien Leigh and Joan Plowright. And my boyfriend was married for twenty years and has two grown sons. A man being married to a woman doesn't make him straight, anymore than Meredith Baxter (from "Family Ties"), who was married for years to David Birney and then to another man, is straight - she recently came out as a lesbian.

  • I always thought.............

  • Hysterical!

  • you have too much time on your hands lol

  • Crap!

  • Wow... REALLY well done! Bravo!
