  • Good call to use a 944 turbo for the track, super balance, strong, tuneable and easy to find the spares. Good luck with it. You should have some fun.

  • I like the Porsche 944,968 and 928 as well as 911. You can find them for ridiculously low prices, and get yourself a really interesting classic car. BUT this particular car was not cheap, The guy payed a low price then found that many serious problems existed, by the time I looked at it, real cost to him was far in excess of what a mint example would have cost him and still it was poor. My point, you can buy a sound one if you take care and avoid the money pits.

  • I bought a 944 Turbo fairly cheap a few months ago. I got it to prep for racing so I just bought the cheapest I could find. As it turns out I managed to make the best cardeal of my life. The car is almost perfect and everything works. Ive only had two issues with it, the relay for the windowwinders broke, but thats a cheap fix. And the valvelifters are a bit noisy, but Ill deal with that this winter.

  • What an ass, I would kill to have one of these......if the original motor is shot, a simple transplant will sort it even 2 JZ toyota engine will work. The 944 is a timeless classic!

  • I have a 1983 944 non-turbo sitting in my garage in need of plenty repairs. The only good thing is that it still ran but that was at least 2 years ago. It needs a lot, including sunroof and center console gauges to be installed.

  • my porsche 944 i've dumped money into and it was well worth it i dont know what he means by a porsche isnt worth to restore

  • I have a 1983 Porsche 944, non-turbo that needs a lot of work. It runs but it's missing interior pieces such as the gauges, center console, door panels, rear view mirror, sun roof, and needs the seats re-welded back to the car. I bought it for $1200 about 3-4 years ago but I'm unemployed now and can't do anything with the car. Trying to decide whether to continue to keep it or discard it. Any suggestions are welcome :).

  • PLEASE ADD SUBTITLES TO THIS- I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HIS ACCENT!

  • That 944 is a right old dog - good to see someone who actually knows what they're talking about.

  • This old prick obviously know nothing about 944s

  • what a nob. the condition is "pure" he he scrumpy cider man. SAVE ALL 80S 4 CYL TRANSAXLE PORSCHE! "ITS COME FROM A RUSTY ENVIROMENT" he he is this guy a comedy act :) :) yea..the roads in uk are damp and full of salt in winter..I bet if he was dragged around behind a car for thr last 20 yrs he would look rough !

  • what a nob. the condition is "pure" he he scrumpy cider man. SAVE ALL 80S 4 CYL TRANSAXLE PORSCHE!

  • what a nob.

  • I own a 91 S2 coupe. One of 510 of the last year made. I believe this model will appreciate even faster than the turbos. The air flow meter is mounted upside down from the factory and looks like it's been flipped, but it's originally that way.

I should make a video of what to look for in a used 944.....because 944's are all we do at Comeauracing in San Diego.

  • @timcomeau

Mate i love my 944 :) This guys just a moron and his one of those people who loves 911's n has never appreciated the front engined porsches or probably ever brought one back from the dead. Great cars and to be honest i wouldnt back down from a 1989 911 in my s2 any day.

  • @subzerostorm yep he is a 911 specialist dealer.....and I agree with you! its only the 996/997s that drive well...my 944 Turbo cost me 6K and will give those a hard time....I see so many 911- not enough 944 (wel not nice ones) ...I had loads of 944s..love em.

  • f*** this guy. its called be an enthusiast you ass. he probably a honda lover. faggot

  • @944Mike AGREE

  • lol '911secrets' sounds like a conspiracy website

  • that s right.it is a great car.the chain can be change and the corosion on a 20 years car...come on!

  • i found one with 2000 euro... interesting

  • hes not saying this cars really bad or anything, hes making an example of spending money on a car that you wont make back. He bought it for 2500 hes spent £1000s and its prob not worth what he paid for it! this is the point

  • @paulhunter123 Well done. That is the point. The sad thing aboout this car was the owner had bought it, spent a fortune & still has a poor example. If he had assesed this car more carefully he might have left it alone & been able to buy a sound one for far less than he has spent on this. And been able to enjoy driving a great car instead of signing cheques and waiting for the repair shop to finish. I am not knocking 944, not knocking doing up a car it can be fun, but this one was not economic .

  • this guys spot on he is basically saying dont buy a porsche in this colour to waste money on get a balck one! or red or white or silver all other colours are crap

  • I agree with everyone else here in the comments, this guy is being way to picky about it. 2,500 pounds I'm not sure exactly but that's like 4000 Dollars I believe, and what I just saw looked like a 4000 porsche. People snickered at me when I just recently bought my 83 944 for 650 dollars and spent about 100 dollars on preemtive maintenance and nowI'm driving a beautiful black 944 with no body issues or interior issues. Some people are just too pessimistic it's like they can't believe a good deal

  • yep, that thing has seen better days!

  • this guy pisses me off thats a beautiful Classic Porsche and he knows nothing about it!

  • A 944 anything be it an S, Turbo, Turbo S, or even a N/A is an amazing car. I own an 83' 944 and owned it since 83'. Original owner and this car has been through hell. In 83' I was hit on a one-way street by a guy who didn't know it was a one-way. It was hit two more times when it was parked. It would sometimes sit for three years and when I would go and start it, it would fire instantly. May need a jump but it will start. It handles corners unlike anything out there. It is just a reliable car.

  • mmmm.... spend more and you get a better car with less rust..

Not really pearls of insider knowledge here

  • I saw a 944 poster that said"They're like children, you can't understand until you have one"...well,I have one,I understand and they are the most wonderful little cars to drive, they still turn heads with their timeless styling and if you can't work on it yourself(or afford to pay for the work)...don't buy one.Just keep watching other folks drive theirs while grinning from ear to ear.

  • What a useless lousy review!

  • I have a 944, 1986 turbo and its been nothing but head aches...I cant find 1 reliable mechanic....What a scum bag business....They must be hard to work on because I have been back and 4th with one scum bag mechanic who I gave over 3,000 to revive this car.....Scum bags!!!!

  • the S2 is very rare, someday it will be worth alot

  • my friend has one

  • me too, a cabriolet

  • @porschedriverS2 good to know :D ive got a 89 s2 with 88km on it..

  • @hamronD73 mine lasted about 240,000 miles then we rebuilt the engine. we wouldnt have had to except the pump lost its prime and stopped pumping oil. youll get alot of years out of it.

  • Buying any used car you want, original paint, excellent interior, and no rust. Take off the oil cap and inside needs to be nice caramel color no sign of water. If the body and interior look like crap move on and pay a couple thousand more and save yourself the headache.

  • Dont listen to this guy. Any classic Porsche is worth saving. If you buy a Porsche for resale value then you dont need a Porsche.

  • @Crosisborg Your Absolutely right. I Agree with you 100%.

  • Could you review a 928?

  • I don't know of many 944s where that part of the gearbox is not rusty lol! It's Cast Iron for Lawd's sake.

  • Comment removed

  • If you try and cut corners on the purchase price you will regret it!

  • a little TLC and youll have a proper porsche
