@DeathnoteRulez4 The stories of FFVII and FFX are unrelated, (like most FF games) but because the the themes are similar some fans create theories that place the games in the same universe. Barret is a character from FFVII. He's large burly character. Since FFVII is very sci-fi Barret's looks are modern (with a gun arm and all). FFX is more medieval, so if Barret were a FFX character he would look more like that. (Though he looks more like a FFVII FFIX crossover to me)

okay I know this is a bit extreme but lets look at it this way: you make money off, let's guess something simple-oranges, selling oranges with a special taste only you can bring to it through some wierdo secret that allows you to sell it for a little more than normal oranges and it's how you make ends meat. then someone finds your recipe and makes the same stuff for free while someone other than you sells thous oranges for profit. Okay, but 1.) I make no profit on Berserk Abridged, and in fact, actually lose money on it if you count the money I've spent on things like a bigger hard drive, a better microphone, the DVDs I use for footage, etc., and 2.) does anyone honestly believe that the 15-odd seconds of the song used in the episode functions as a substitute for actually buying the song? It's not like I'm distributing the whole thing so that people can save a buck on the legal download or anything.

The philosophy is that if you listen to something, no matter how small, there needs to be money paid for it. It's a mindset held by backwards-oriented business execs that are so desperate for any amount of money that they cannot accept the reality that no matter what they do, clips will float around of music that they own. So instead of offering a compromise they throw a tantrum and demand that people pay them money to for a tiny fragment.

I've got no beef with UMG. They made a copyright claim on my AMV which used Stevie Wonder's "Uptight," but instead of asking YouTube to take the video down, they just wanted a couple small links put up to the song on iTunes and Amazon. That sounds like a much better solution for all involved to me, and I applaud them for it.

Also IIRC they were one of the first to allow their music to be released for mp3 download without DRM.

No company is perfect, but UMG is at least taking steps.

It depends on the date you uploaded the video with the song in question and the date UMG obtained rights to that song. I've had about 12 copyright claims from UMG towards my AMVs. Only 5 were allowed to stay up, the others were all completely blocked and eventually just deleted from my account. If you look around you'll find A LOT of people who have problems with both UMG and Viacom. Viz and Crunchyroll are taking steps to improve themselves, UMG in all fairness isn't even close.
