I too, started listening to FOREIGNER in 77. He was, "hands down", the best rock n roll singer during that time, period. He was "Da Man" (I'm now 56yo)
I consinder this to be one of the most underrated rock albums of all time. Every damn song on Inside Information is tight and solid, with a tight groove. The melodies are all excellent. The epitome of AOR...
@TheGoddessCaroline, the keyboards was MJs idea, not Lou's. that is why Lou split from Foreigner in '88. the music was going in a different direction and Lou wasn't onboard with it.
BTW, having made the comments below (& being a hardcore Foreigner fan right from the very start since 1977), I wanna state that I LOVE this track ('Face To Face') & consider it to be one of the three best tracks off this album, along with 'Say You Will' & the mighty & hardcore "The Beat of My Heart" which proved Mick's guitar could still cut the mustard ~ For some reason that 'gutsy' classic-track rarely gets a look-in.
It's been uploaded TWICE, yet, isn't currently around on You Tube (sadly)
Where is that edgy, sexy Foreigner? I guess this is that twinkly tuned over-produced 80's sound that so many bands did..ala keyboard. Still great singing but give me that gritty, dirty white boy!!!
@AORCrazy yes, you're right. That true, it's very good on so many levels. Thanks for challenging me with this. I gave it many listens. I do like it after I get my ear accustom to the newer sound. Love the singing and yes keys. I suppose tend to listen to much more heavy music more often even in jazz and classical. I guess I can start off light then go heavy but not so much the other way around just yet give me a few months to train myself.
Foreigner was something else with Lou Gramm their songs could really pierce the soul now they are just a mediocre tribute act trading of past glories . This was their last constantly good album. Still sends shivers to down the back just listening to this song.
@Runrome = if you think 'Inside Information' was their "last" constantly good album, then you aren't a 100% clued-in Foreigner fan coz you MOST OBVIOUSLY have never heard their truly superb 1994 Album "Mr Moonlight" which was their 8th Studio album & the LAST to feature Lou Gramm on lead vocals throughout.
The 1994 album Mr Moonlight is arguably pound for pound a consistently BETTER album overall than either Agent.P or Inside.I (taken in completeness) ~ for those not clued-in, check it out !
Yeah, Lou's commitment to the group was his priority, but he is a Rocker at Heart, and wanted to keep it going in that direction. That is why he left and formed Shadow King.
@tryithere I beg to DIFFER. Agent Provocateur was an awesome album and so was Inside Information. However, after Lou Gramm left the group was not the same.
Its funny but I thought this track was just okay at the time of release now I love it but after having to listen to some of the worst music with new hits this IS a masterpeice
Many great songs such as this one didn't chart or have a video. I remember this song from a cassette tape I had back in the 80's. Thanks for the song.

Foreigner deserves to be in the rock of fame why isn't it?

@SuperMelita9 - I ask myself the same !!! probably since Lou Gramm is "separated" from Foreigner, this band lost HIS VOICE and HIS SAOUL !!!
feargal75 2 months ago
@SuperMelita9 Hall Of Fame? They've only sold 70 million. Otis Redding had a solid hit.

@tryithere There was not a voice like that back in the 70's He was just simply incredible!
