chloe was great but jolie was amazing in that film. I just watched it recently and it could have been really overacted but she added little nuances, hand gestures, eyebrows, smirks, the rhythm and intonation of her voice all these things just brought it to life and gave it depth. she deserved the oscar, she has chosen some really shit blockbuster films but when she wants i think she can be a very charismatic and intense actress, ppl forget that now that its all "brangelina"

Jolie was awful; unsupportive, self-indulgent, and projects nothing but empty emotion.

Couldnt have said it any better myself honestly. Precisely what I have previously said. The Sev was absolutely robbed. Jolie's performance whilst good was not even close to the likes of hers. Chloe's performance was one of (if not the) most delicately and perfectly portrayed performances I've ever seen. It was a 'memory burner'....

What's weird though, is how Swank's performance didn't "hit" me like Sevigny's. Swank's is brave, raw, and admirable, but I felt that Chloe had a greater effect on the film. She holds the film together, gives it its rich emotional resonance, keeps it grounded, and is its the beating heart.

Swank may set the story in motion, but its Sevigny who carries it into our heart and soul.

@FilmFreakable Once again, applaudable comments, absolutely spot on. Whilst Swank's performance was amazing, raw, and convincing - it truly was Chloe's portrayal that struck at the heart. Her subtle yet powerful 'character transformation' throughout the movie was also superbly done. She conveyed everything she was aiming to convey to perfection. I cant speak highly enough of her or her performance. Since seeing that for the first time a couple of months ago, I've truly become obsessed! lol
