  • George Washington actually carved his initials in the bridge

  • wow I know what kind of folks won't stop by the rebel flag place.

  • My wife and I have been to NB several times. We feel like it's one of the best places to visit. Thanks for the video.. Happy New Year.

  • Thanks for a wonderful video memory. My eight year old daughter and I left Tennesse last year, heading for Washington D.C. We only made it to Busch Gardens...but, we stayed a night at the Natural Bridge Inn. We had a great time hanging out at the bridge and in the beautiful hotel. Thanks for the memories:)

  • Good to see someone experiencing many of the wonders of VA! VA is truly a fantastic state. With arguably more history then every other state (Jamestown, Presidents Civil War, Richmond, etc) at a lot of natural beauty as well! Vigrinia also has a climate for everyone. Depending on where you live in the state!

It is funny because John Denver's song about WVA is really describing Virginia! The Shenandoah river and Blue ridge mountains are almost all in VA! Except Harpers Ferry! Visit again!

  • We have been to Harpers Ferry, But you are right about Virginia, we have another called Pocahontas Virginia and we are working on a Blue Ridge Parkway video up there as well.

    Thanks

  • Wow, this takes me back to when I was about 10 yrs old, the last time I was at Natural Bridge (44 yrs ago). I enjoyed it as a kid, but would love to appreciate it as an adult. I'm blessed to be a native Virginian, and I need to get out and see it more often. Thanks for sharing your adventure. Virginia really is for lovers. Five stars and Favorite!

  • Thanks so much dmt!

We enjoyed visiting NB on our way through about seven years ago. We just had to go back and now there is a safari close by and of course Stone (I mean FOAM) Henge. ha ha

  • does anyone have a picture of the intials that GW placed in the wall? As a huge history buff and soon to be student of VT I would love to see it.

  • I have looked and looked, I know we have one somewhere, I keep digging!

  • My wife and I took our neices and nephew to see natural bridge last year, this is the second time that I have been here....pictures don't do it justice, it is a great weekend trip

  • I agree, when you walk around the bend and see the bridge it is breathtaking

  • You were about 20min. from me.cool place ugh?

  • Thanks dwt,

we really love it up there

  • Hey Dan, I'm a Virginian far away from home and this was a really nice little diversion for a homesick googler! Thanks.

  • Thank You Amy,

That is such a nice thing to say.

    You have a great Homestate.

    Dan

  • It's places like these that make me proud to be a virginian

  • Thanks for the comment bigknux,

    we love Virginia!

  • Lovely video and travelogue!

  • Thank You much,

I still cant get over your awesome cookie channel!

    Dan

  • You should check out my other channel, MissTruly. Also, have you seen the channel, Texascountryreporter? You'd like it based on your videos.

  • Wow! Thanks for sharing your trip to the Natural bridge...Within the next few days I'm driving up North to Rochester NY and "AAA" mentioned in my 'TripTik' the Natural Bridge as a must see. I was debating on taking an extra day to see it for myself but after watching your video I know I'll regret not stopping by and seeing it for myself. Thanks again! Sharyn

  • Thanks Shar52870

Did you get a chance to stop there? if so what did you think?

    all the Best

    Dan

  • I lived in FLOYD county! Did you go to the Friday Night Jamboree at the country store or the FloydFest in August? The Blue Ridge Restaurant has greasy food. Next time try the cafe above Harvest Moon on route 8 or try Oddfellows at THE traffic light. It's the only one in the entire county so it's hard to miss. LOL! The 'light show" at Natural Bridge was lame, but the food at the restaurant was good.

  • So sorry it took so long to reply, i have no good reason, but thanks for the recommendation and we WILL (try both of them if I can get away with it) next time we are up that way

    Dan

  • Hey Dan, I like this show. Very informative on a little bit of history concerning our fore-fathers. 20 Schillings Huh? What a deal. You know whats freaky is when you were zooming in on G.W.'s initials I could have sworn for a second that just above was the word 'DAN'. Look at it again and you will see what I mean.

  • I must have responded on the phone, I have no idea why I haven't here yet, but cool and thanks big guy!

    Dan

  • Have to just say thanks for making this videos. Really makes one appreciate the history and the scenery. Also love hearing about the journey there. I say move over Travel Channel.

  • Thank You so much TwilightPro101,

    for the very generous comment!

    Dan

  • Great Video, My husband & I took a day trip there in April, It was awesome. The bridge was amazing. We went to both zoos, stopped by the Foam Hinge, and went to the Haunted Monster Museum.

  • Thanks SLB,

    What was Stonehenge like?

I haven't mustered up the courage to go to the Haunted Monster Museum Ha ha, but we have stayed in the little cabins there. it was very peaceful.

    Dan

  • I have a few pictures of Foamhenge on my myspace so check it out... (stephanielynnbowles) I was wandering about the cabins when we were there, The best thing I liked about the Haunted Museum was ....The whole time I had no idea we were being video taped, so at the end of the tour we had a chance to buy a DVD of us going through it.Well we did & people thought it was so neat.

  • Awesome! I read that you guys went to see the Moth Man, we did to.. You describe the town perfectly, it was all very dirty until you got down town. We ate at the diner and visited the museum . The story of the Silver Bridge was cool.

  • Fascinating!...That was as close to Natural Bridge as i get without going there...Some really interesting information too...Well done.

  • Thanks dburr, You got to go and didn't have to tolerate riding around in a car with me driving and trying to video tape at the same time! Although you did miss meeting the locals at Boones Mill, might be a plus.

    thanks

    Dan

  • This is very well done! You inspire me...

I hope to have a road trip to share some time in July :) Our final destination is Centralia Pennsylvania- to see the town that never stops burning.

  • I know about that town! We were in PA a few years ago, but I travel to WV from time to time, and the Coal miners speak of it regularly!

    awesome, Shoot some video!

you should pass right by Natural Bridge if you go up 81, but if you head through WV You have to stop at the TAMARACK! exit 145? I think, its before Beckley on 77.

  • thanks dan, i enjoyed the video, i will definitely have to visit.

  • Thank You JMIT..

If you do let me know how your visit was.

    dan

  • Thanks for the trip, Dan! Nice tranquility, you have shared a 5 star slice of heaven.

Yeah man, meet ya at FoamHenge for the summer solstice! I'm part Druid, and squeezably soft! ;D

  • Thanks Phunnie, I felt like I was in your garden of tranquility video while i was watching the fish swim so peacefully

  • First, woo whoo, just had to do it. Nice vid, a place I would like to visit. Thanks

  • Thanks seejaylaugh.

We had a great time. Maybe next time we can get to go to Foam Henge.
