Its unfortunate to hear that such acts are occuring in South Africa. Although I am 1st generation American, my family comes from a country where the minorities are hunted like animals and the majority can care less what happens to them. Keep fighting the good fight.

The taste of ones own medicine is often bitter. I wonder were this reasoning was when it was the other way around? The lack of empathy then is the reason people are so hateful. I think we should aways treat people like we want our children to be treated by them. I actually think opposition is good. That is what makes a democracy work. I was merely giving you advice about waffles, but it looks like you're not having any of it. At any rate, if "lack of empathy" was a child sitting in a school bus, "ignorance" would be it's driver. For example, assuming people lack empathy or that the action of a few (i.e. their government) is reflective of them. What a fun way of conjuring an army of hateful thoughts. Sorry if I was a bit sensitive. I didn't get my fill of waffles yesterday, but its cool...I just had some right now.

however, I don't understand how you can see the ecenomic investments like the gautrain and the football world cup as bad. This is job creation and boosts the economy and then indirectly alleviates poverty. This is exactly what the coutry needs! For example why not rather build a factory with the the budget set out to build thousands of houses for the unemployed who then turn around and ruin it because they aven't worked for it...

Daft fool, the macro economic spin-offs from a successful world cup will help bring those people out of poverty in the long run. The last thing South Africa should do it to have a more closed economy, much of its recent econimic growth has been foreign investment driven.

I don't think Rendier is an idiot, like the person below says. I do think his heart is definitely in the right place. However, his head is definitely not always. Sometimes he will say things to show that he doesn't understand the big picture, and this is coming from someone who doesn't even live in SA. And there are very few things he says that I agree with in terms of his views of things besides SA. Otherwise he does mean well.

Daft fool? If you only knew what you were talking about. That country can't even keep there electricity supply running for 24 hours a day anymore, how the hell do they expect to host a World Cup. The only thing the world cup will hopefully bring to that country is an exposure of the fact that the current government doesn't give a damn about anyone or anything, but the lining of its own pockets with tourist foreign currency. Sad about the electricity, the govt is to blame for that... but why are there power cuts? The economy has grown so much, the likes of which have not been seen during the apartied days. All I've said, is that I can't see how they can possibly host the World Cup under the current situation. The problem, in my opinion. I gather you live in SA.
