Buffalo are excellent eating. The fish there are retarded or something. Around here, you have like a second to shoot, not much time to aim like that in this video. Oh well, good shooting.
Yeah will work great! Anything between 35-50 lbs is enough to stick a good sized fish. Get yourself a good bowfishing rest such as the AMS Wave and a good reel and you will be ready to rock.
this is a sick video man. i live in texas and we bowfish a creek also named brushy crekk about 10 min from my house. you got some great shots in hear. keep up the shooting. i enjoyed the music to really made me wanna get back on the water asap
is their a special season to do this in or can you do it all year around? this looks like a blast! great video. and are you just aiming down your arrow or you useing sights?
You can do this type of hunting year round. All you need is a fishing license. Only rough fish such as buffalo, carp, gar, bowfin etc are allowed to be shot. I know a lot of guys that use a single pin sight but I have learned to shoot down my arrow with no sights which can be difficult. I recommend using a sight if possible.
We sometimes smoke the carp otherwise just leave them on the bank for animals to eat. The kit I use is from AMS and runs about 100 bucks. I love it. Depending on the depth I typically aim 3 to 4 inches below a fish if its a foot under. Slightly more for deeper fish. It just takes practice to figure it out.
cool.. should i not shoot a fish if it is too shallow? like would it damage my arrow if it hit bottom? and if so then how shallow could i get away with..the creek ill b fishn is mostly like 6-10'"deep and small pools sometimes go 3 ft. it is FULL of carp and sucker..they are about 3 ft. long..some 3 1/2 ft. long..problem is..most of them lay in the shallow part underneath the limbs of trees waqiting for bugs to fall off the limbs
Yeah I usually dont shoot if the fish are over rocks but if there is sand or softer sediment below them I wouldnt hesitate to shoot shallow. You can really pile them up if you can get close to them like this. Shots arent too hard either. I would aim just an inch or 2 below if they are that shallow.
i don't use a compound for bow fishing its just to hard on ur gear but an old one isn't so bad i just use a long bow for my fish and my hoyt turbohawk for my deer and turkey
Hey Nick, couple of things. My buddy and I bowfish that spot all summer long i think our final count on carp was 130 or so last summer. That and 1 unlucky turtle. We had days of 30+ fish and some not hot days. Anyway i faved this vid but we need to have a little bit of a challenge summer of 2010. Hit me back via messaging i have some other things to ask ya.
