The Thomson Destiny, Cruise Ship Review - August 2011

My wife and i went on our first cruise on this ship, we sailed on the friday, by monday, the wife wanted to go home, by the wednesday, i had had enough. NEVER AGAIN. Docked at Tenerife, about a 500+ que for the taxi, we ended up in a roadside cafe, as it was less hassle.

Put us off cruises for life which was a shame.

Going on board for a fortnight at the end of august/beginning of September, if as good as the Spirit I certainly won;t have any complaints.

Just got back from the Thomson Destiny on Thursday, first cruise I've been on. I'm 14 though and if I'm being honest there is not much to do on the ship other than to watch the main shows, everything is catered for the oldies really (No offence if you're older, but they could do some younger stuff, too.) Anyway, I loved the disney show on the last night and could anyone tell me the name of the song that starts in this video at 25:50? Thanks :)

@debandmart The very cabin in the video is exactly the one you have said, outside, deck 3 and under the library. Never been on the Spirit, but been on Celebration once, overall I liked the Celebration layout more, however my wife prefers Destiny, so I guess it's horses for courses. Hope you have a great cruise!

Have just booked the cruise but not a specified cabin - but know what you mean about lower deck above engines - what cabin do you think would be good to choose? I was going to pick an outside deck 3 above the library - any more ideas gratefully received.

Have never been on the Destiny before but have been on Spirit 3 times

Thanks for this - you may just have saved me £140 - just about to book - have been on the spirit before in an outside cabin which was much roomier - now thinking may just have inside on destiny and leave allocation to chance!

great review, i see you like cruiseing .its right what they say once you have done 1 cruise you will want to do more,i have only been with p&o 4 times found it awesome all round the caribean, now trying our first med cruise with princess cruises,

fantastic review, thank you for this, I agree with everything you have said - yes shes tired and the rooms are rather small but the whole experience of a Thomson cruise is fabulous. We just got back from Destiny on Thursday last week (our 3rd time on the old girl), was nice to see snippets of the shows we didnt get to see!

I was pleased to note there have been several areas of the ship updated since our last cruise last august - particularly the can can with all newly upholstered seating.

Thanks for the review. It looks like a good cruise ship overall. I've never been on a cruise. I just cannot afford one. Too bad that they cost over $1000 US dollars, even though they usually cover all of your food.
