@Vintageshred71, gotta say you give me confidence and hope. Back into it after nearly 20 and playin is tough. Used to be easy, probs the pride and hormones back then, as well as maybe a little help...but now I feel like my hands are half-size and my wrist got arthur! Was gonna give up til I saw you got same hands as me. After wot I just seen from you Im gonna fly! Cheers...
I just upgraded the eq on this baby to a Seymour Duncan STC 3M4 and it's made a serious improvement all across the frequency range. I had the work done by my favorite Guitar Tech, Mat Herbst of Herbst Guitars. The difference really is amazing.
After replacing the battery is came to life. I was about to send it back.
Then the treble boost/cut is totally useless. It might as well be a 2 band eq. Bass and Mid boost/cut is decent but to get a half decent slap tone that Stingrays are famous for, you'll have to do it with your amp settings. Shame.
An eq upgrade will definitely help to get decent top end from it, and a PUP upgrade if you dont mind spending the extra money. Still not too bad for the price.
Hi guys. I've just bought myself a 5 string version of one of these . The build is pretty solid and the hardware is of a decent quality. I have two main problems with this Bass. The first one is that the Battery is tucked away with the electronics! How dumb is that? Every time you need to change the Battery you have to remove 4 screws. A battery compartment would have been a great idea. I thought I'd been sold a passive bass before I decided to open it up and found a weak battery.
@DangerousRomantics not on this particular example no - I've always find the EST range to be pretty good straight from the box, and any action/truss rod issues are usually easy and quick to address.
ive got the 5 string version of this model, it rocks and lends itself to most styles. if you want a music man bass but cant afford one then buy this beauty
Hi. Not that I wish to grumble, but it sounds like you recorded the bass just using the camera microphone. Any possibility of recording the bass sound, say by DI into an amp sim box or through a proper mic on the amp?
Hehehe I have this bass. I removed the preamp and made it passive with a volume on each coil of the pickup and a master tone switch. I also added a 2nd output and a chrome pickup cover off a jazz bass. Now its mine!
i cant really tell, is it the same as a stringray body or is abit of it a different shape ???

Hello, I am new to bass. Could you please tell me the difference between active and passive? Thankyou :)
Also, is this a good rock/metal bass? Thanks again :)
BenEd2 2 years ago 2
Hi dude and thanks for watching. I can highly recommend this bass for rock and metal.
An active bass has a tiny preamplifier built into the controls (usually powered by a 9v battery) which increases the output and tonal frequencies.

i've got myself this guitar)) so nice!)))

Ну она риальне специфическая в пень. Зато твой саунд будет риальне специфическим. Как говорится, не соскучишься! Жирок.

amazing bass. thinking about getting one. just one question... where is it made?
Cu1t06 2 years ago
Most of the Vintage range are built in China. Trev Wilkinson visits the factories twice a year to check on production and suggest improvements.
vintageshred71 2 years ago
thanks for quick reply! Will it be good for funk rock(RHCP),pop-rock(Jota Quest) ,rapcore (like RATM) or something funky like early incubus?
