The first television that I ever saw

I don't remember that far back, but I do remember our first TV had a 9 inch screen and everybody sat really close to it. The first show I remember is Howdy Doody.

I remember those 9 inch TV's. At one time I did a killer impression of Howdy Doody :-).

And at that time did you ever think that you'd "broadcast yourself" across the globe as a hobby? Amazing times we live in.

When I look back I am Amazed how we have progressed from my first memories around 1941 or 1942. I can remember listening to war news with my Dad to Gabriel Heatter on a large tube radio. I can remember like it was yesterday standing on the main street of my hometown while people paraded up and down the street banging on drums to celebrate the end of WW2.

I bought a old 50`s tv set at a older woman`s yard sale once. she was moving away and wanted to get rid of some stuff. the tv do not have a scratch on it. Ofcourse I can not use it, but I bought it because I collect that type of things. When I buy a bigger house I will transform one room to a 50`s room.love watching your videos, hope you have a good weekend :)

Frank I can just imagine how exciting that must have been, to see flickers on a TV for the first time. My Aunt used to tell about the first time that she and my uncle saw a TV. They walked into a bar in New York City and there was a TV on with a snowy picture. She always laughed telling the story because my uncle looked up at it and waved his hand and said oh that will never never amount to anything, dismissing the new technology. -Jim
