I would not go as far as to say that he is better than Baryshinkov nor is he as good. However he is a very beautiful dancer but he was still very young here. I would watch his performance in The Fallen Angel a truly beautiful work of art and it really shows his strengths well. I think he will become a beautiful dancer he just needs more time to become that beautiful dancer we know he can be. Best of luck!
Baryshnikov, however, was not luchshim.Luchshim dancer of the twentieth century recognized Vasiliev. Both differ from the current young boys high art of dance. Today, many young good jump, well stretched, the Simkina - phenomenal for a ballet pirouette. But the ballet - is to overcome the barrier of sound, is beyond what can be said in words. And so, acrobat or athlete, the mechanical piano. Hope Simkin will grow, and his parents made him a champion.
Just read a horrendous review of Daniil's recent performance in the title orl's perfgormance in Prodigal Son at ABT on danceviewtimes. Worth noting, of course, is that the reviewer was LIsa Rinehart, Misha's longtime partner :). Even so, the review makes it sound as though Daniil could have benefited from better coaching, as he is all raw talent right now and still so young. I look forward to seeing him blossom&hope that ABT works to develop his artistry rather than using him as a circus act.
the tone of that review reveals a snide a bitter individual that takes joy in ripping into the creative efforts of people more than understanding the effort and abilities of artists such as Ratmansky ( a proven director and choreographer) and a hugely talented Daniil Simkin.
I think his performance is technically superb, I would ask him for a strong self style. Please become the artist you came here to be...thank you Daniil

hey, just checked misha's video of the same dance(1969) and mr. simkin is much better!the latter is so centered and the line is much thinner and elegant. So I guess any of the big companies would offer him great $ to pack the houses.
But from what I have seen the kid wants creative choreography and I recommend Wheldon,C.?
i completely disagree. maybe in terms of technique daniil is better but there is more to dance than technique. that's why baryshnikov is considered the best, not because of his technique but because of his expression and presence. he can just stand on the stage and the audience will only watch him. that is true greatness. and it's not easy to find.

hey, just checked misha's video of the same dance(1969) and mr. simkin is much better!the latter is so centered and the line is much thinner and elegant. So I guess any of the big companies would offer him great $ to pack the houses.
But from what I have seen the kid wants creative choreography and I recommend Wheldon,C.?

i completely disagree. maybe in terms of technique daniil is better but there is more to dance than technique. that's why baryshnikov is considered the best, not because of his technique but because of his expression and presence. he can just stand on the stage and the audience will only watch him. that is true greatness. and it's not easy to find.
