Great video, I did this hike a while ago. It took me about 6 hours to get up along the Barr trail route. I came down on the train though. When i got to the top this group of foreign tourists came over to me and asked me if i'd really just hiked up there. Later they even asked for a picture with me. The trail was nicely kept and the weather was wonderful and I only saw a handful of people on the mountain that day,
Just hiked this July 6th, 2011 in honor of my brother. We buried a vial of his ashes at the top. Such an amazing journey! Thanks for posting the vid. I peaked in 8 hours exactly... most of our 21 member crew peaked in about 10 hours or so. Not easy, but very rewarding!
It's hard to explain to ppl who have never been there just how rough this trail can be! This vid was super helpful for that!! Thanks again!
Its 14110 feet to the summit. Barr trail starts at about 7000 feet below the summit. The trip should take about 8 hours, so says the sign at the beginning. I was stuck in a lightning storm with about 1 mile left to the summit, while also dealing with sever altitude sickness! This is a sweet video!!
You're quite good. There's a lot I could learn from you. How do you get the satellite imagery? I understand the DEM part. By the way, what resolution is that DEM?
@tracyleerose the key is to bring oranges. they help alot when you get to the high altitudes. and i thought it was 14 miles to the top from the bottom?
