it was when australia played new zealand in a limited overs match, and greg chappel (who was captain) told his brother trevor, who was bowling, not to bowl a standard delivery, but to underarm the ball to the kiwi's big hitter to prevent a match winning six off the last delivery. at the time there was no rule against it, but it was poor sportsmanship and brought the game and the aussie team into disrepute for a while because of it.
