Got to add this. Just learning to sweep. My admiration is now 10 times fold!
We paddlers do not realize how hard it is to sweep. This was just great!

Incredible sweep. Also, my admiration goes to the paddlers at the front that reacted so masterfully to the sweep's directions. That was SUPERB paddling and teamwork!

the philly oat was rammed and WE STILL WON!! this reminds me of a regatta i was in a few months ago a chinese boat rammed my team (philadelphia) and we STILL won. philly pwns

This was the Senior Mixed semifinal in the 2002 CCWC. I was in the Philly boat, left 4 seat and also the coach of the team.
What was funny about this race is that right before the start I commented to the team something to the effect that the team to our right was the same team that knocked our steerer out of the boat in Oakland earlier that year in the US nationals so let's hammer them. Well they hammered us, again! Not intentionally of course. We later went on to win the gold.

wow cool. notice the philly boat maintains their lead and the front left paddlers are drawing left on command to help straighten out the boat. that is some amazing concentration and discipline. amazing.

amazing save and amazing finish. the coach called in the power strokes at the right time. it looks as if philly does a start with 10 deep strokes and then comes a good 25-30 sprint strokes. simply AMAZING!!!

I was there with BAD's Premier men's crew. I remember it well. That was the masters race with the BAD crew causing the crash.
Phily actually won that race. Amazing kick-save by the steersman and concentration by the crew.
