@Davlan86 For future reference and your own benefit: drop your expectations or else you will be very disappointed throughout life. And I think many can agree with me when I say this is not shit, different and creative, yes. But shit... of course not. If you can replicate the same sounds with the same instruments he uses and become world famous for thinking outside of the box in the world of music then congrats, but until then don't diss what you don't understand man... peace.
@Qu35t10n3v3ryth1n9 Very well worded reply. Maybe I was a bit harsh saying it was shit. I heard of Daedelus a while ago so know of his reputation. I dont know what I was expecting with this. I have a very open mind when it comes to music. i am a proper music fan not a follower of genres. I 'understand' this as much as the next music fan, I'm just not a fan of this particular tune. My opinion is just as valid as yours or anybody elses.
@Davlan86 uh huh, it sure is! You are entitled to your opinion, most definitely. Personally I just enjoy music in which the artists actually puts their full effort and passion into their work. Unlike some mainstream artists who hire people to make their beats, choreograph their dances, promoters and advertisements, and in some cases write their lyrics. I won't mention any artists I have in mind because I don't feel like youtube arguments haha, but I am sure you can think of some artists. :P
I've listened to this track I don't know how many times, I swap to something else and try looking for something that makes me feel the same as this vid's artwork makes me feel.... then I go back and start listening to it again lol...
Subtle nod to Wagon Christs - Shadows (which uses the same sample no doubt) with the victorian man and his gadgetry there eh! I like it. Amazing track, fantastic work.
the MUSIC and BEAT scenes were called so as they were trying to be unspecific , why does every track have to be genrealised ? it is what it is and artists shouldnt feel the need to put themselves in a box otherwise there would be no experimentation and no progression .
If you pals and birds know the entire album and are eager to get to know some similar punters as Daedelus who have something to do with instrumental/abstract/alternative electronica-drenched hip-hop try e.g. Blockhead, Sixtoo, Wagon Christ, DJ Vadim, Ammoncontact (all from Ninja Tune label) or Prefuse 73 (from Warp).....This is highly recommended. Daedelus is the master !!!§
Sweet! I otherwise recommend the entire label as it conjured up the best music of last, say, 14 years....so I guess it´s advisable to get to know with as many Ninja pals as could be- Homelife, Amon Tobin, Hexstatic, Animals On Wheels, London Funk Allstars, Antibalas,...Up, Bustle & Out, Loka, Sklapel, Bonobo & others....Apart from a couple of really good records since 1996 Ninja´s really been overruling my musical concerns! Have fun!!
@mooxD actually it has a sample of the james bond song diamonds are forever... but it wasused by wagon christ. both are such good songs. this song is awesome.
the other thing is that i can´t find a relation with cyberpunk...maybe cause i don´t like it. cberpunk it´s like a rave party with punks with mops in the head and trying 2 be bads...maybe the only relation is with the terminology, hope so.
ok, steampunk is eclectic. with a huge relation with the victorian century in countrys like england, were the steam starts. things like moving homes with steam, and iron objects, that were futuristic in that century. it´s very imaginative and beautiful cause u need to transform the iron making an object and appart, all the clothes are hardworking 2 do by hands.
Steampunk kind of evolved from Cyberpunk in a way. It takes cyberpunk, and puts it in a historic setting, rather than a futuristic one, hence the "steam" part. The basic concept behind it is often referred to as retro-futurism, like if the future existed in the past.
steampunk is a more fantasy/fiction style were its inspired by older eras were gears/steam power was widely used (19th century). However steam punk has influence from fantasy and maybe a futuristic touch in some cases. like a alternate history.
Daedelus is his own style he makes music. I think by now all you people that try to catagorize music should know that artist like Deadelus are not trying to have a certain sound they just enjoy making music.
@txt2k3 his music type is expirimental, which you can basically call his own type of music. cause id say theres not really any subgenres of expirmental music besides artists.
@MrUnhappyGuy All the great ones are steampunk. Thomas Dolby. Prefab Sprout, The Blue Nile over Edward Hopper viz. All this pop zeitgeist nonsense is thin. Echo a lost time and you'll be timeless.
Oh thank GOD. I've been looking everywhere to find the track it was from. I should have known. I DID know it was Wagon Christ, I just couldn't pin the track. Did Luke Vibert (Wagon Christ) sample it from somewhere else?
TBH, I think this track is only decent because of the Wagon Christ sample (sorry!). It's disappointing so few people know of him.
I've had the honour of meeting and talking with him more than once and found him to be a very talented and friendly chap. This was the song that kindled my interest in his music. Check out a song called I Sent Off II sus per Coll.
I'm high as fuck and just discovering Daedelus for the first time...Fuck it's hard to write...but I am in love he is taking to another place....see ya...i'm blaaaastin' oooohhhhffffff!!!
Erm, yes they do. Actual costs of a dowloaded MP3 file's recording etc are around 10-12p per time. They charge 79p per song in the UK. Thats a massive ammoung of profit. Apple is making loads of money out of this.
Well I don't know what the hell p is but Apple has stated that they make zero money off iTunes. They only make money off the iPods, which I don't buy. Zune FTW.

Sangheilios 3 years ago
Since I said "The UK" I would have thought its quickly easy to see what the currency was. The reason its hard to believe is that if it were true
A. How would it account for the discrepency between cost of songs production vs the cost at I-tunes
B. How could other companies like Napster (now legit) who also charge around 79p afford it, since they don't make Ipods.
SFRobertsDickClarke 3 years ago
That makes sense, and Apple does lie a whole lot. Still, I can't deny that iTunes has a great selection.

Did you know..... Daedelus used to be an underground hip hop produced based in France but now he makes wonderful music that isn't hip hop (but still makes one or two hip hop tunes) and lives in Venice Beach in California! "Exquisite Corpse" is a great album and you should definately get it if you haven't already!!
