  • does anyone know where that string sample is from at 2.11?

  • this is rubbish

  • @doctorw2 you're rubbish

  • @Crazyokapimonkey2 hey get off of my cloud mate!

  • Damn my laptops freezing up....oh nah, thats Daedelus

  • The Jogger remix of this song sounds NOTHING like this.

  • merci

  • Please excuse my french, but mon dieu! putain incoyable!

  • @peski73

Oh god you actually used that saying correctly. +1

  • oh damn. him and Wagon Christ both sampled the james bond song "007 and Counting"

  • this is pretty shit.. Not what i was expecting. never mind!

  • @Davlan86 For future reference and your own benefit: drop your expectations or else you will be very disappointed throughout life. And I think many can agree with me when I say this is not shit, different and creative, yes. But shit... of course not. If you can replicate the same sounds with the same instruments he uses and become world famous for thinking outside of the box in the world of music then congrats, but until then don't diss what you don't understand man... peace.

  • @Qu35t10n3v3ryth1n9 Very well worded reply. Maybe I was a bit harsh saying it was shit. I heard of Daedelus a while ago so know of his reputation. I dont know what I was expecting with this. I have a very open mind when it comes to music. i am a proper music fan not a follower of genres. I 'understand' this as much as the next music fan, I'm just not a fan of this particular tune. My opinion is just as valid as yours or anybody elses.

  • @Davlan86 uh huh, it sure is! You are entitled to your opinion, most definitely. Personally I just enjoy music in which the artists actually puts their full effort and passion into their work. Unlike some mainstream artists who hire people to make their beats, choreograph their dances, promoters and advertisements, and in some cases write their lyrics. I won't mention any artists I have in mind because I don't feel like youtube arguments haha, but I am sure you can think of some artists. :P

  • Forgot about this, amazing.

  • This video's intense.

  • mashup: Daedelus - Just Briefly vs. Peter, Bjorn & John - Young Folks

  • goddamn good

  • LALALALALALALA

    nuff said.

  • 2:10 is the best part...

  • this reminds me of the place i've never been...

  • I've listened to this track I don't know how many times, I swap to something else and try looking for something that makes me feel the same as this vid's artwork makes me feel.... then I go back and start listening to it again lol...

  • daedelus and plaid rox

  • I love this.

  • how much acid does this guy do

  • @exidus1029 none.

  • 1:05 to 1:22

Without doubt best part of the song

Digging the skipping record vibe to it.

  • Subtle nod to Wagon Christs - Shadows (which uses the same sample no doubt) with the victorian man and his gadgetry there eh! I like it. Amazing track, fantastic work.

  • Incidentally, here's the original sample:

    watch?v=avAeh9L3Txw

Diamonds are forever soundtrack - 007 And Counting.

  • 2.13 to 2.47 my fav part

  • @fanngary hey if you really like that part I have Daedelus jogger remix that is kinda a longer version of that part... it's really nice

  • Simply love it.

  • i am in love with this song...like seriously!

  • the MUSIC and BEAT scenes were called so as they were trying to be unspecific , why does every track have to be genrealised ? it is what it is and artists shouldnt feel the need to put themselves in a box otherwise there would be no experimentation and no progression .

  • this song is fucking awesome.

  • I've only got into Daedelus since hearing his recent "Righteous fists" EP.

The wealth and variety of material out there is mindboggling. I feel like Charlie Bucket taking his first few steps inside the factory door.

  • i love him live

  • we found a reincarnation - pale house

  • I love him at 2:01 !!!!!:)

  • hes a really dope steampunk and his music is tight

  • I met Daedelus last night...He's simply the nicest, most down-to-earth artist out there....

  • oh my goodness...

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE

  • Bee there!

  • Steampunk Sampler? Excellent. ;-)

  • This ish is dope as fuk!!!

  • STEAMPUNK!!!

  • damn right!

  • Amazing

  • wow samples of broken social scene.

  • If you pals and birds know the entire album and are eager to get to know some similar punters as Daedelus who have something to do with instrumental/abstract/alternative electronica-drenched hip-hop try e.g. Blockhead, Sixtoo, Wagon Christ, DJ Vadim, Ammoncontact (all from Ninja Tune label) or Prefuse 73 (from Warp).....This is highly recommended. Daedelus is the master !!!§

  • thanks! i've listened to and love two of these similar artists, and i'll be sure to check the others out~~

  • Sweet! I otherwise recommend the entire label as it conjured up the best music of last, say, 14 years....so I guess it´s advisable to get to know with as many Ninja pals as could be- Homelife, Amon Tobin, Hexstatic, Animals On Wheels, London Funk Allstars, Antibalas,...Up, Bustle & Out, Loka, Sklapel, Bonobo & others....Apart from a couple of really good records since 1996 Ninja´s really been overruling my musical concerns! Have fun!!

  • Daedelus has the sickest breakdowns no doubt

  • 2:12-2:35 is one of the most beautiful things I've heard in my entire life. I wonder where he sampled that

  • I know! Check out she song 'Shadows' by Wagon Christ. It's there too!

  • @mooxD actually it has a sample of the james bond song diamonds are forever... but it wasused by wagon christ. both are such good songs. this song is awesome.

  • lol i heard other world by jakatta same sound tho either way, and yes from jb originally

  • Sounds kinda like a part in the Mask with jim carrey im not saying it is but sounds a bit like it.

  • please make love to me daedelus

  • the other thing is that i can´t find a relation with cyberpunk...maybe cause i don´t like it. cberpunk it´s like a rave party with punks with mops in the head and trying 2 be bads...maybe the only relation is with the terminology, hope so.

  • ok, steampunk is eclectic. with a huge relation with the victorian century in countrys like england, were the steam starts. things like moving homes with steam, and iron objects, that were futuristic in that century. it´s very imaginative and beautiful cause u need to transform the iron making an object and appart, all the clothes are hardworking 2 do by hands.

  • but the term punk, why?

  • Steampunk kind of evolved from Cyberpunk in a way. It takes cyberpunk, and puts it in a historic setting, rather than a futuristic one, hence the "steam" part. The basic concept behind it is often referred to as retro-futurism, like if the future existed in the past.

  • i love this dude's style.

  • this song needs busdriver. it would make it so badass

  • has anyone noticed that Daedelus is just a bit steampunk?

  • whats a steampunk?

  • He wears Edwardian clothing, and he is a Hip-Hop producer...he ain't steampunk...he is uncategorizable...

  • um that doesnt answer my question very well but whatever o_o

  • i just googled steampunk and he does kinda seem like a steampunk.

  • steampunk is a more fantasy/fiction style were its inspired by older eras were gears/steam power was widely used (19th century). However steam punk has influence from fantasy and maybe a futuristic touch in some cases. like a alternate history.

  • daedulus is totally steampunk... you can tell by the way he dresses and by like all of his videos

  • Daedelus is his own style he makes music. I think by now all you people that try to catagorize music should know that artist like Deadelus are not trying to have a certain sound they just enjoy making music.

  • @txt2k3 his music type is expirimental, which you can basically call his own type of music. cause id say theres not really any subgenres of expirmental music besides artists.

  • @txt2k3 That's beauty of creating music

  • @MrUnhappyGuy yessssss

  • @MrUnhappyGuy more than just a bit

  • @MrUnhappyGuy he's victorian!

  • @MrUnhappyGuy

For me is really near to Tipsy (mix between Tipsy and Aphex Twin perhaps)

  • @MrUnhappyGuy All the great ones are steampunk. Thomas Dolby. Prefab Sprout, The Blue Nile over Edward Hopper viz. All this pop zeitgeist nonsense is thin. Echo a lost time and you'll be timeless.

  • this is amazing

  • very nice animation

  • daedelus is amazing :)

def a favorite track of mine's.

  • awesome, im going to put this video on my ipod

  • he's genius at the bit box

  • does any one noticed that at about 2:11 this track sounds exactly like "shadows" of wagon christ ?

  • yeah it does. same sample i guess

  • Oh thank GOD. I've been looking everywhere to find the track it was from. I should have known. I DID know it was Wagon Christ, I just couldn't pin the track. Did Luke Vibert (Wagon Christ) sample it from somewhere else?

TBH, I think this track is only decent because of the Wagon Christ sample (sorry!). It's disappointing so few people know of him.

  • this is the shit i luv it

  • thanks for uploading this lovely tune.!!

this song is so great :)

  • This has nothing to do with Silent Hill 2 though right? Parts of it make me think of that games beginning theme.

  • if you get a chance see him live!

  • nice tune.... wats the instumental at 2.20? its off a bond film but i can;t remember

  • It was from Diamonds Are Forever, the track is called '007 and Counting'.

  • Thanx man

  • hes good

  • daedelus is just mental lmao

  • this is so cool! he's a genious! its like those strange dreams people have that actually come to life, including the colors and sounds... amazing!

  • What a fuckin guy. Hard to express my admiration and love of his music

  • real fresh

  • I've had the honour of meeting and talking with him more than once and found him to be a very talented and friendly chap. This was the song that kindled my interest in his music. Check out a song called I Sent Off II sus per Coll.

  • You'd think Daed were a band, with all that happens. Just one person though.

  • Daedelus. Bringing honor back to sideburns.

  • hahahah HELL YEAHH

  • lol the ending is from a wagon christ song what a hack

  • have you heard love to make music to?

it's brilliant. he's hardly a hack. in fact i'd say he is brave and original

  • hehe oops sampled the same record

  • to Mike and the rest of the YouTube nerds, can you enjoy anything or do you have to criticize everything?

  • Then do it, clown.

  • the beginning reminds me of stereolab's 'brakhage'

  • i love this song cause i can play it with so many of my games.. skate.. all of em lol

  • yeah this shit is definitely trippy!!

  • John Barry's "007 and counting" plays at 2:20

  • Trippy.

  • I'm high as fuck and just discovering Daedelus for the first time...Fuck it's hard to write...but I am in love he is taking to another place....see ya...i'm blaaaastin' oooohhhhffffff!!!

  • LOL!!!, caught a glimpse of Jimmy Hart and King Bundy I think.

    Great track by the way.

  • I LOVE THIS TRACK! especially about 2:22 in!

    Kiler

  • love this guy

  • this guy is a legend

  • Wow, very interesting stuff. Anyone catch the WWF action figures at the beginning?

  • how come this video is not in itunes?

  • because itunes sucks. :D

  • then, how may i have the "just briefly" video in my iPod if iTunes doesn't have it?

  • vixy dot net. you can save the video off youtube to an ipod friendy format.

  • thanks!

  • how come you buy things on itunes?

  • Because I don't like to steal dumbass.

  • LOL! you equate not buying on itunes to steeling?! wow, you do realize there is a world outside of mac right?

  • Yes I hate Macs but iTunes is fine to use because it has a good selection and Apple doesn't make any money off it.

  • Erm, yes they do. Actual costs of a dowloaded MP3 file's recording etc are around 10-12p per time. They charge 79p per song in the UK. Thats a massive ammoung of profit. Apple is making loads of money out of this.

  • Well I don't know what the hell p is but Apple has stated that they make zero money off iTunes. They only make money off the iPods, which I don't buy. Zune FTW.

  • Pence. The decimilasition of the pound? You've seriously never heard of that?

Of course they would say that. It makes them sound good. But its simple economoics to prove that it isn't true.

  • Yes I've heard of pence. But "p" could be anything. Also I'm not familiar with UK monies. Well anyway iTunes does have some stuff that other stores don't. I'm not saying I like Apple, but it's true.

  • In the context of what I said, "They charge 79p per song in the UK" I don't see how that could be anything other than cost. Anyway I hope I've shown you that corporate alturism is not what apple is about in that regard.

  • I knew you talking about cost, but not what currency or what the conversion rate was. Anyway, don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not an Apple supporter, but why is it so hard to believe that all their income doesn't come from the overpriced iPods, not the iTunes service?

  • Since I said "The UK" I would have thought its quickly easy to see what the currency was. The reason its hard to believe is that if it were true

    A. How would it account for the discrepency between cost of songs production vs the cost at I-tunes

    B. How could other companies like Napster (now legit) who also charge around 79p afford it, since they don't make Ipods.

  • That makes sense, and Apple does lie a whole lot. Still, I can't deny that iTunes has a great selection.

  • This guy reminds me of Thomas Dolby in the sense that he can make weird yet awesome videos and music

  • I love the dreamy sequence that begins at 2:10.

    it's awshum!

  • Wow.... comments. This is one of mine.

Its all open to interpretation! Read what you want into it but generally it was supposed to be a story about three generations of inventors all linked by their inventions... Thanks much for the attention!

  • This video is neat, I love it because it is different. Saw it playing on C4 (a New Zealand music channel) and thought 'Wow!'

  • It's a work of art by itself, you don't need drugs.

    But alright.

  • ohhhhjh,,,......,/ i gert ut now. thankcsa

  • cooooooooooool video

  • if u are gonna insult someone, please check your grammar before you do so. thanks.

  • finally someone who agrees with me, this guy's been getting on my nerves....

  • agreed.. you opinoin makes 0% sence

  • you cant even spell pretension right.

  • Well, that just goes to show how unpretentious he is, right??

  • wow talented vid,

you should have put a lot

    of work into it;.

  • lol... Are you going through all of Daedelus's music and calling them "pretentious"? Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I feel you don't quite understand the meaning of the word- the video nor the artist is trying to charaterise itself/himself with an unjustified sense of importance or meaning

However if you accused a few of the previous commenters of that particular trait I probably wouldn't disagree with you.

  • This is the shit yo. Abstract manifested to the 10th power trandsending the known perameters of the three dimensional time

    correspondance! Awe inspiring!

  • you said it.

  • Thanks! You know if we all could relate to the universalism in music and the art projected by the artist life would become more rewarding. Knowledge, strength and beauty are the keys! Strive for perfection!

  • Yeah its a good video, but what the fuck are you on about? My advice- stay off the acid for a while...

  • Thanks for you flavorable input. My third eye has opened a little wider. I had a little too much speed yo!Keep hope alive and drive 95 is my motto.

  • yep that ones much better, you go do that now.. bye

  • Anyone want to try and analyze this?

Perception is subjective and our beliefs are perpetuated through generations?

  • DRUGS

  • yeap

  • thats abstact man its hard to get!!

  • wtf?? it made no sense! maybe i just dont get it

  • i dont think its supposed to make sense

its just suppoased to be cute or somthing

    xD

  • It's trance, it's not supposed to make sense. :)

  • smoke a dubee and come back and watch it again on a big screen with the volume way up and you'll totally get it.

  • I SO FREAKIN LOVE THIS!

  • syper

  • kretiv ohne grenzen

  • These guys are trippin' balls!

  • Did you know..... Daedelus used to be an underground hip hop produced based in France but now he makes wonderful music that isn't hip hop (but still makes one or two hip hop tunes) and lives in Venice Beach in California! "Exquisite Corpse" is a great album and you should definately get it if you haven't already!!

  • Global Warming is NOT man-made!

  • its man caused

  • Just like ME
