  • Japanese scales are charming

  • i've seen three hira joshi scales which are all different

  • actually Iwato has a b3 and is spelled:

    1 b3 4 b5 b7 or D F G Ab C

it's a mode of In Sen (or Kokin Joshi)

some of these names come from koto tunings (hence joshi/choshi) akebono and kumoi were tuning variants. as you can see, they're modes of each other.

  • Do you have the music sheet for this scale? I would love to download this from you...

  • @KevinVang1000

If I remember, I'll try uploading it this weekend under the description.

  • Thanks!

  • Do you have some patterns for this scales? Its hard to find these on western books. I know Hirajoshi and Kumio(Iwato) and i think they are great scales different sound. Does C Akebono contain the notes c,d,eb, g and a?

  • I'm pretty sure that the 5th in kumoi is a perfect 5th and not a tritonus. Otherwise it would be the same scale as Iwato.

  • @CaptainBohnenbrot Captain's right. Kumoi needs a perfect 5th.

  • @CaptainBohnenbrot

I hadn't noticed that until recently. I use my keyboard for everything, so I probably made a mistake somewhere when typing. Thanks for letting me know.

  • @CaptainBohnenbrot but with the perfect 5th is the same scale as In sen

  • I must say.. Nice tags... I see you put some Spanish in there.

    xP

  • You'd be surprised at the increase in discoveries from searches when you add extra languages...and I know Spanish, so why not put that in there?
