Loved the video but I agree that a simple static full view camera would be more involving and less distracting from the music. I appreciate the work that has gone into it though.
@RealRoots1959 unfortunately I only got the 3 or four tracks I've put up already. He did some live recording for folk alley that are also up on youtube and are really nicely done as well :)
@itsMeechum Even if you had the tab, which certainly doesn't exist as Darrell plays his songs slightly differently every time, you would need to be a hell of a guitar player to manage this particular tune. To say that it is difficult is an understatement.
@syncopater999 not really, and this isnt me being pretencious, with a little time on my hands i sat down and worked on it, i can easily unpack what he's playing from experience playing by ear. however, he is the only one that can play this song with the feeling and grace that he plays it with. I'm by no means saying i match up to him in talent. i cant compose, especially like this, very very few people can.
@itsMeechum Hi -that is a fair enough response that you have made. You have grasped what I meant though -that while technically it is by no means impossible, it is the delivery, feel and touch that give the guitar playing that extra quality which comes from having a distinctive and personal style and that is what would be really hard to replicate. I like that Darrell's style is really fresh, often improvised and distinctive and that is why I don't see the point of having a tab of the tune.
As a huge fan of Darrell Scott, thanks for sharing this performance. One side note: the cuts back and forth from face, to hands, to front view of hands is a bit distracting. As an amateur guitar player, I enjoy watching Darrell's fingers work the magic. With rapid cuts, it can be difficult to see the continuity.
Just one of his many great tunes

It's a great time in your life when it's style over fashion. He may not be pretty, but, DAMN!! Love me some Darrell Scott.

Wouldn't mind if you'd fill a full DVD with this. Did you record a complete concert? Because this guy's timing is perfect.
