BEST. BOOK. EVER! I find the style entirely original. I read a freakish amount of books, and normally don't pause after finishing one. And yet, after I finished, I reread it twice that week. And again, and again. I learned most of the songs and poems, I commited many lines of dialouge to heart, and I lost sleep about the sequel and its dissapearing release date.... APRIL 20th WAS TEN DAYS AGO! I felt privledged to read this book, something that hasn't happened since my first exposure to Tolkein.
Good News dear sir, the manuscript of the wise man's fear has been submitted to the publisher and shall soon be out, most likely this fall. If you or anyone else who sees this needs a book recommendation to keep you busy till then I suggest you take up A Game of Thrones and work your way through the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. Or the Dresden files are pretty awsome too. :)
Read both. I'm reading Wilbur Smith novels, the Ancient Egypt series, to keep myself relatively sane, right now. Warlocks+mythology+boredom=reading fun
it's a genious book. Rothfuss did make connections from the beginning till the end.
It's a great style, the author did make a perfect job.
I read about 20 books a month (Yes, im not normal) and then i go out all the evenings...
but that does not matter. Indeed, i read this book and the second time i read it was DEFINETLY better than the first. the third wasn't better, i found the first leaks, but it's just great. My favorite book.
This is an amazing book, and I definitely agree that the second reading is better while the third is lacking a bit. The sequel is coming out in april sometime I do so believe. Whenever it comes out I've already got it reserved.
I'm a slow reader and i finished the name of the wind in two weeks! (which is a record for me!) I could not put the book down! if i read before sleep i would not be able go to to sleep cause i wanted to read more!
This is one of my favorite books, I love it. Yeah the Second book Wise Man's Fear is supposed to be out in like April or somthing. Some similar books might be Fall of a Kingdom by Hilari Bell, and then you might want to check out the books by Robert Jordan, I've heard they are good.
will, find out what I can on Fall Of a Kingdom and see if it's something I'd like, I would have picked up The Wheel Of Time series by robert Jordan (heard lots of good stuff about it), I am waiting for the final volume before getting the whole thing, If you haven't read Lies of locke Lamora by scott lynch you have to get it, it's great
I can definitely vouch for the wheel of time it is a very interesting series with a few flaws that can be a little annoying at times but don't totally take away from the value of the books. Plus if you like Patrick Rothfuss I'd say its a locke ;) that you'll love both Lies of Locke Lamora and Red Seas under Red Skies which is its sequel. Scott Lynch and Pat are definitely to young fast rising stars.
Oh Scott Lynch is pretty much up there for me read his work before Patrick Rothfuss' can't wait for republic of thieves, wiill check out wheel of time, P.S you should try Mistborn trilogy by brandon sanderson.
I'm reading the first Mistborn right now! It's really good so far. Usually books take a while to get into but Mistborn totally captures you from the beginning. I'm not totally into fantasy books but Name of the Wind has gotten me into it. It's completely in its own league.
one of the best fantasy books of all time and the story isn't even over yet :)
