  • Wow 2009 video was made it's all rumor

  • sounds cool but they should have another motor option that brings back that good old japanese inline 6 sport motor seen in the supras and skylines and such of japans golden era

  • thats what the LFA is for this is new-gen levin not supra..

  • all the japanese know to do is how to copy other companies!! Asians stop copying and be original!!!

  • epic fail!!!

  • epic fail this model was supose to replace the celica gt-four gues they changed their minds,,, bummer, why go to subaru... is toyota stupid????

  • lol toybaru

  • Subota!

  • The only thing that is missing on modern 2+2 coupes is the sliding triangular rear passenger windows. Cars like the Pontiac GTO from 1969s had those...You pull down your driver side window and the rear side window behind you, and let the breeze come in :)

  • looks sort of like the celica replacement

  • did you see those fucking vacuums in the back, those were badass

  • lawnmower? this is a subaru's boxer engine. they are one of the best sounding 4 cylinder engines. nothing like honda's vtec or any other 4 cylinders.

  • Hmmm I guess you're right. Actually sounds like a V6 or I6

  • You heard that it still will be a subaru's bokser under the bonet? Propably it will be easy to tune'up this baby or swap the ready turbo charged engine from subaru

  • nice looking but performance wise seem weak

  • it's supposed to be light, and cheap. so it doesn't need the power, which would bring it closer in performance to each respective company's higher performance cars. they'd have to either charge more for the car, or lose sales to the other ones.

i'm sure this car will be a hoot to drive.

  • Looks real nice but a venture with subaru????? What are Toyota thinking? And to top it off its real wheel drive, yuk !!! Real wheel drive is so 70's. BIG BIG pass.

  • whats a real wheel drive???? i konw there is REAR WHEEL DRIVE but its my first time to hear real wheel drive

  • he said rear......

  • spelling.

but its the Ae86 reincarnation, no one was expecting it to be AWD

  • do you know anything about drifting???? not so 70s

  • ur boring person

  • Well I guess you didnt know then, Toyota bought Subaru several years ago, after GM dumped Subaru/Isuzu (and Fuji Heavy Industries). Now even the Toyota Camry and Impreza are built side by side in the same Subaru Factory in Lafayette Louisiana. Any wonder why many of 2010 Subaru car models "suddenly" look more toyota'ish? lol

Expect many more Toybaru's and Suboyota's in the near future.

  • Actually you are a bit behind the times. The 8.7% was back in 2005. "A change to Japans antitrust laws on the first of this month has paved the way for industry giant Toyota toTAKE OVER Fuji Heavy Industries, the parent company of Subaru" Toyota doubled their stake to 16.16% giving them controlling interest in the company. "CEO of Subaru Ikuo Mori admitted that his company would likely cease to exist without the aid of Toyota".

  • Suboyota... I like it!

  • as in toyobaru

  • its says 86 in the name!!!!! fucking new ae86 fuck yes toyota doing something great!

  • yes but u cant compare this toyota vs a z4

  • finally a FR by Toyota after so long. The next drifter

  • supposedly this takes the spot of the ae-86 as the next "legendary" drift car

  • This has something of 370z nissan

  • wait if subaru did all the work, what the hell did toyota do

  • fucked your mom

  • toyota it seems did alot of styling! It looks so nice I want one, its like a cross between the new sti and an old 86 :D!

  • WOOOO

    SUBARU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I dont know but I think it looks like a combination of the 370Z and the LF-A concept

  • the front looks like a concept s2k

  • damn that car looks so small. or is that guy just so tall?

  • toyota really needs sport cars, or at least the looks of a sport car, corollas and camrys are not that appealing to enthusiasts

  • yeah! finally ! poor man's LFA. lol

  • not at all... a flat 4 that is naturally aspirated wont cut it. toyota needs a 6 cyl engine in their sports car line to fill in the gap of the supra and the poor mans lfa will probably be released as a v8 from lexus with forced air induction if they plan on making a cheaper lfa which would probably still run over 100k USD

  • Well the toyota version of this car will just be for the Japanese market (celica), and the flat-4 will be offered in a turbo version too, basically the same set-up that's in the WRX. The rest of the world will see the car under the Subaru (Impreza coupe) brand, and it too ofcourse will offer both engine choices, non-aspirate and turbo. The turbo version will offer optional AWD.

  • Looks sexy. But I hope they dont put in a 2 liter. That would be such a waste.

  • Germany does not always win. Remember World War I and II?

  • not always, do I have to remind you of the Nissan GT-R or the Mitsu FQ400?

I do prefer german cars but you cant discriminate jap cars just for being japs, at least pose a valid argument.

  • its SAME THING as the LEXUS LFA announced in Tokyo.

Since Toyota owns Lexus I'm sure they just wanted to release a concept or "Super Car" of their own...

  • Comment removed

  • Pretty sexy. I hope they really bring it out to market. It will smoke all them other cars.

  • LFAil - wtf $400,000

Ft-8shit - HP sucks, power to weight sucks, rims suck......wait 4 the subaru version

  • lame, they ned to take that car , and put a turbo 6 banger in it or something and call it a supra. cause this thing is a beautiful car and needs to be as sporty as it looks

  • Agreed!

  • i believe there are rumors that subaru COULD be bringing out a STi version????

  • Lexus LFA is better!!!!!

  • No duh why wouldent it be better? the LFA will cost 370k...

  • the LFA will sell for $400,000.00

  • I personally think that Toyota should come back out with the 2JZ-GTE that motor was nasty and it would beable to have Toyota have one of the king sports cars to compete with the GT-R and shit!

  • Everyone likes the 2JZ-GTE but the motor is dead, it wont met emissions by a long shot.

  • 2.0L H4? Knowing how much refuse the Subaru do when it comes to dimensions; it'll probably be a pretty easy conversion to an ej207 turbo'ed setup with maybe a FMIC if there's space. So VF22 on an ej207 is good for 400hp'ish with a good exhaust and a meth-injected based tune. The 86 in the title suggests they're aiming at the corolla 86 drifters too. So is toyota aiming squarely at the aftermarket with this? You bet your ass.

  • nice comment!

  • Sorry i meant to say "reuse". Subaru engineers do like reuse, a 93 imprezza for example can take an STI motor, the mounts are the same. Yes, I've done it. So potentially this can will be very fast with a motor swap. First day it's in show room floors I'll be there with a measure tape to see if things will fit.

  • This is the 2011 Corolla GTS

    Very beautiful

    stunishing lock

  • thumbs down

  • Scrap the hybrid part. The chassis and the RWD platform are great. However I'd love to see a turbocharged 2.5L boxer engine instead. Or even the 2.0L it has but turbocharged.

  • I don't think he was saying it is actually a hybrid... just being ironic in that is it gas powered and RWD

  • Yes he's confusing terminology and he should realize he's in the auto sector before saying hybrid.

  • stupid fuck was standing in front of the damn car

  • unless this car has tons of power from a 2.0 H-4 naturally aspirated, the miata and the scirocco will still be head of the class in small 2doors.

  • great looking car

  • Looks like a nice car. Being Toyota, it shouldn't be too expensive, maybe 25k for base and 28k for all the goodies.

  • It will drift no doubt. Flat 4 RWD

  • The FT-86 suggests they're aiming at the drift community too :)

  • yeah its gonna be pretty sweet. i wonder if subaru is gonna come out wit a sti version.

  • that car sexy.

  • i herd its like 25 grand nice price hehe

  • The "Toyota 2010 Supra"

  • no its not the 2010 supra this car is supposed to be a re-make of the ae-86 your thinking of the ft-hs

  • I wish :(

  • It's about time car makers start going back to the FR layout.

  • if it can't drift, then it ain't worth of beeing a succesor to AE86 :)

  • Isnt it RWD? Sorry if Im wrong.

  • Yes it is, and with a torquey Subaru boxer engine it should drift just fine.

  • Yes he said it's RWD.

  • FR means front engine, rear wheel drive. RWD can be rear motor like a porsche. adog619 is simply horny (rightfully so) for the good old days were motors were in the front, and tire smoke was in the back.

  • I know that haha, I didnt even listen to the guy talk on the video. My comment was in a response to someone who was saying it cant drift, which it obviously can because its FR.

  • it will drift ;) i heard about this car some years ago, but now I see it :) and it's ugly.

  • Cant go wrong when subaru is involved.

  • get your sexy body off the screen. We want to see the Toyobaru.

  • next time less of yourself, more of the car please.

  • After cars like the Celica GT-Four and that lovely MKIV Supra, I agree with Mr. Alistair Weaver about adding some glamour to the Toyota lineup. Maybe this leads to more exciting future Toyotas? At least this is a start. And personally, I wish it took on a look strikingly similar to the good old AE86 rather than something purely futuristic. It's still a very nice car.

  • "hachi rouko"returns

  • i wish i could see more of the car design in this video but the guy covered the half of it :(

  • thanks for standing in front of the car

  • boxer engine.

  • Toyota wants to build a new AE86 version, no a 4WD Celica monster. Probably this car will have a 2.0 liter or 1.6 Turbo engine, but they want to keep the car as light as possible to make it affordable.

  • fuck a celica :)

  • stupid...

  • When the video is this short, there is no need for the insideline intro. Give us more content.

  • It looks really nice!

  • Comment removed

  • niceeeee. i cant wait! maybe it can be as good as the genesis coupe, or camaro.

  • first! i thought that guy was now gone from inside line?

  • from Sky Motoring. Or in other words, Sky motoring was cancelled.
