does any one know what guitar chords he uses in this song i cant find them anywhere there are no tabs for this song. some b.s if you ask me! san antonio is always treated like crap anyone from here is disrespected no matter how talented
My first barroom gig was with a Soul and R'n'B band at the Escape Club down on Main Street. I was just a kid, still at R.E. Lee H.S. The older guys in the band spoke in awe about Sir Doug. Rumor had it that SAPD got an attitude about him and he had to leave town and he ended up in San Francisco. When I got out of the Navy, he had returned, but was in Austin which was really happening in '73. I saw him at the Soap Creek Saloon.
It's always great to hear a tune from my fellow San Antonio native. Doug started singing and playing the blues at a very young age and he sounded authentic even way back then. Thanks for the post and the memories.
this song is fuckin amazing....every time my dad and mom hear it....they talk about the good ol days...the 50s in san anto....watch the stacey adams baby....
That's Frank Rodarte on saxaphone. Frank still plays in San Antonio, Texas with his own band. Prior to the Mar-Kays it was Doug Sahm and the Pharohs. The leader and a back up singer for the Pharohs was none other than Randy Garibay. Randy and Frank later on in years formed the band, "The Dell-Kings" and even later "Los Blues" who played in Vegas for many years before returning to San Antonio in the mid seventies. Randy, RIP.
I think this band was originaly called (MIKE) & the MARKEYS..I'm trying to remember who was in the band,,looks like Gibe Escobedo on sax,,maybe Victor Montez on guitar..I played with Dino (Dimas Garza)& The Deltones 1964..this song was cut before that time..I remember playing this song with Little Joe (Bravo) & The Harlem sometime in 1962-63 when I giged with that band..I hadn't heard this song since then..still sounds good..where are you finding these old songs?

This would fit right in on his LAST REAL TEXAS BLUES BAND disc. He was killing it at such an early age.
