  • See, here again why we see why Johnny was so magical...he finds neat and interesting people and just has a really fun discussion and showcase with them. Everyone these days is just trying to book big names and celebs who are just as boring as they are ego-maniacal and self-centered.

  • Looks like George Bush xD

  • did he say nigger lmao

  • ynnuf si siht - yojne ti!

  • @darius595 Is humor or laughing at silliness useless to you also?...lighten up and laugh for Chrissake!

  • @McGarVision ah ah sti ynnuf tub llits sselesu

  • James Edmondson, Sr. (June 10, 1910 – January 29, 1976), also known as Professor Backwards, was a vaudevillian/comedian who appeared on TV from the 1950s to the early 1970s, most notably on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Tonight Show, and The Mike Douglas Show. In addition to traditional stand-up comedy, Edmondson's act featured his ability to write in script that was upside down and/or backwards, spell and pronounce words backwards, and read an inverted blackboard correctly.

  • I knew someone who can speak peoples names backwards but doesn't really do it now.

  • @KarloR27 fascinating.

  • Yeah I can sort of try. Lrak as in Barack is my name Karl backwards as I was told by the person at the time.

  • I wonder if he can understand someone else talking backward...I would love to hear two of those type of guys having a backwards conversation.

  • Johnny Carson looks like an intelligent Georges Bush

  • I share Johnny Carson's bewilderment. How does this become a thing you do? Where could it ever have been applied? How did it manage to get him onto talk shows? It's such a trivial thing, but he's so good at it.

Cool stuff McGarVision, I'm enjoying these old vids of yours.

  • I guess they're right, I played one of the sentences he said backwards on Sound Recorder and it sounded a lot different

  • wow what a stupid hobby to have..

  • HAHA! this is so so funny!

  • this guy could have been a spy

  • @superfob54 In other words, "a piece of cake" once you invest several years time learning how to do it. Gotcha.

  • Humor is... FUNNY! Especially when done by a neatlookin' young guy, genius/mental level. UNreal! There's a lot of science in this... Language Science.

    Thanks, McGarVision... great clip. =jonycuddlesgert.

  • This guy looks like jimmy fallon, and is more interesting.

  • geez the captions are so funny. Evil Tony, good idea

  • If you say Oregon or Reagan backwards, Al Sharpton will sue you.

    :)

  • This video is great!

you should try transcribing the audio, using the closed captioning feature; the results are hilarious for the backwards talking!

  • interesting, useless, but interesting

  • insightful, naive, but insightful.

  • Nope, definitely useless. And not really interesting either.

  • One of Carson's greatest skills was to let the audience know exacty what he thinks while hardly saying a word about it. We all knew that Cason thinks this guy's a bit of a joke but he's respectful yet gently abrasive.

  • Antidisestablishmentarianism -> ?

  • very witty

  • @chuobio

Pnuemonoultramicroscopicsilicalvulcanoconiosis (terrible spelling, but you get the point.) :))

  • Now, you're just fuckin' with me.

  • @chuobio

Haha, umm i believe that is a disease, not 100% sure though, but it's cool to say. :)

  • i wonder where he is today

  • it kinda sounds like he's speaking russian

  • again was niaga

  • there is a girl on ABC that claims this same talent

  • How enlightening

  • LOL which is LOL Backwards ... {8P

  • It's funny because like him I too can do this. I've been able to since I was about 10. Respectfully although it does sound cool you must appreciate it is one of the most useless talents to have.

  • Imoan. xD

What happens when he can't spell something...? :o

  • lmao

  • lol backwards is lol....

  • !taht od tnac uoy naem I .doog yllaer si eh kniht I

  • ynnuf yllaer s'eh

  • You won't see these novelty acts on The Tonight Show anymore.

Too bad It's been replaced with Jay Leno on the street with a microphone finding out how dumb Americans are.

  • You mean "too bad it's been replaced with Jay Leno ripping off Howard Stern."

  • @greg5566 Steve Allen actually did it first "Man on the street"...Then Letterman started doing in paying homage to Mr. Allen. Howard started doing it, but always gave credit where it was due.

  • Stern does not give credit to Steve Allen. He's talked about this and dislikes Allen immensely. "Man on the Street" is a different thing. "What do you do...?" "What do you think of...?" "Tell me about..." and Allen would try to make it funny. That is what Letterman ripped off. Stern does a basic knowledge quiz "How many states are there?" "Who was the first president?" and we laugh at their stupid answers. That is what Leno ripped off.

  • "And how do I know that's right?"

    ROTFLMAO!!

  • OAMLFTOR

  • This stops short of him saying how he's probably the only person in the world that can say the 7 dirty words on TV. Back then it was avoided - not like now. Anyway, before Johnny could say a word, he rips 'em right off! It was quite funny. Johnny said how the censors would have fun with that one!

  • That never happened. I have the complete show and what you describe is false.

  • I saw this when it first aired....we talked about it at work the next day, lol-ing.

  • a magical genius

  • Siht si emosewa.

  • Is this real?

  • No...it's not real. That's my cousin portraying Johnny Carson, that's me speaking backwards via a reverse audio tape hidden offscreen and the set was rented from Pier One Imports.

  • looc

  • I would hate to be in a spelling contest with this guy.

  • !!emosewa gnikcuf

  • DOn't be funny, mate, LanceDirk agrees at least. it does sound like HEBREW

  • An amazing useless skill!^^

  • he switches a word backwards one at a time rather than the entire sentence.

  • and that's bad why??

  • didn't say it was bad. some people commenting on here were switching their sentences rather than each word at a time.

  • The guy must be a politician!

  • Fierce

  • I went to school with a guy who could do this. He used to crack us up because he made fun of some girl's haircut and said, "deah eldoop (Poodle Head)."

  • That was so funny. I was laughing hysterically.

    That guy's talent is cool.

  • I can only write backwards with my left hand. It's a brain thing.
