Hey Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, and the rest of you new musicians you should be listening to this, this is what was like, musicians that play Gsus9ths, Dm6, and E/F# and maj 11th, and 13th's. have you even heard of those chords. I really miss the old days there was so music great music out there. I cant tell one band from the next these days.
Timeless music. Fagen and Becker's music will be around for centuries. It just gets better and better over the years, and makes you realize how lame most of the other shit is.
I agree. They are incredibly underrated. But the reason for that is that they never "sold out". They just stayed cool as a studio band, with a few live appearances while they dominated the FM airways.
I saw Steely Dan here in Ca and this the one song they did NOT sing, and it was my late husband's fave. Oh well. Whatever, THEY ARE FANTASTIC. Best band on earth.
The man is a lyrical and musical genious. just imagine that he rarely uses the same instrumentalists and back-up singers that often. Especially studio vs live performers. He knows that even a slight change up in musicians can create a totally different sound. Just listen to the same song on three different occasions and they all will sound different (dont pay attention to tempo).
Donald Fagen is our generations' Cole Porter. He is literate and melodious, and has nothing to apologise for, and if you don't like the way he looks, then you should look at yourself.
We would certainly go along with your comments, we arrived in Lucerne on the Thursday, so we had plenty of time to enjoy the atmosphere - the people were great. We didn't really expect to be able to watch some of the gig again. Thanks.

Yes, they are rare to catch live. But I agree, two musical geniuses. Both just look at the world differently, I sense that.

It's one of my favorites also. I sing my tonsils out while I blast it in my car.

@TheLeastDiseased you have to play it loud just for when "he steps on on the platform"

This is brilliant. We were there also - right at the front, to the right of Donald Fagen. If Bruno is tuning in.....Hello, from Kev and Jan.
