  • I hope you keep uploading documentaries since I love watching them. I kind of collect them too ^_^; So I'm in your debt. :)

  • Keep on uploading, people DO care!

  • Part three?

  • I watched an Einaudi video (Fly) I then watched a video on juicing a 5lb bag of baby carrots - I'm now here. Thank you Youtube!

  • there is a script for this at SAY2.ORG if you are enchanted by this (and unlearned) as I am, and want to study deeper, you'll find it helpful. I couldn't spell all these names to research. Now I have reference.

  • @HistorysMysterys a brief look at your favorites list... "lil wayne admits to being gay" doesn't show you are much different.

  • @sleepyfish Ahahahaha, the irony!

  • @sleepyfish shutup we watch dumb shit some time, don't act like your superior I can at least watch a good documentary inbetween all the goofy dumb shit.

  • @sleepyfish Brilliant!

  • What a shame that those whose sentiments I share are themselves unable to write grammatical English - the other notable feature of the 'stupid' viewers of youtube. Consistent with the name 'HistorysMysterys' in its absence of a possessive apostrophe in the first instance and of the correct plural in the second, that contributor writes 'documentary's' and 'its' , in each case using the apostrophe incorrectly. I'm glad you aren't 'stupid', HistorysMysterys.

  • @crzxr Whats your prob I'm complimenting someones video and your going on about an internet typo.

  • Such amazing documentary and very informative.... I had been hanging out much of the time watching the videos you uploaded. Thanx

  • very interesting. always love documentaries. a history of scotland is very good also. thanks for uploading!

  • @1andonlyhistorylover Thank you for posting all of these wonderful videos. I love history and taking a glance back in time and I thoroughly enjoy your uploads! I've never been out of the country.....but would love to tour the world and enjoy all it has to offer before I die.....but until then I will have to make due with videos. Thanks again for taking your time to upload such fantastic shows! Much love from Tennessee! :)

  • idk why but the way he brags about how sophisticated the early settlers of Britain give me an impression of "ahh... my ancestors may be primitive but they had more class and sophistication than the rest of their time."

  • I will be loosing my internet connection for a couple of years, since im going aboard n i cant spend money on web connection, so you just saved my life, im d/ling as much as i can from your channel so i can get trough the boring times with entusiasm and fun learning! Thanks!

  • has anyone seen the clip of cats flushing toilets on youtube? hilarious. lol

  • This video uploads are rare place where beside watching anything interesting and usefull, you can actually read something smart (comments that do make sense)! Really gratefull for uploading this... Greetings from Serbia!

  • @lambofgod661 Congrats!

  • ive actually been to that village on orkney its really windy there though and very few trees

  • I keep returning to watch them all again and again

  • good stuff

  • @doctorpapaya lol Well I don't make a point of arguing with morons but it is pretty funny that you make fun of our music all the while you have a Canadian musician in your favourites. WINNING?? What are you 5?? Only an american would consider random insults on the internet a competition, there's your culture for you.

  • @doctorpapaya Your arrogance and ignorance is amazing....and you wonder why people make such statements about americans?? The irony here is that you proved kevin's point for him yourself. I feel sorry for the decent americans who have assholes like you that make the rest of them look bad.

  • I loooooooooove BBC documentations!!! :-)

  • My God, this is amazing!! Agh! I wish I could be a history major without being a teacher or a lawyer!

  • PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO WATCH WHAT EVER THEY WANT. DONT BE SO POMPOUS! YOU DIDNT MAKE THE DAMN SHOW YOURE JUST WATCHIN IT! LOL!

  • I love England! I'm from Canada and I wish you could be next to us, not America. I'm sick of being so close to ignorant fools!

    YAY Britain!

  • @kkristiekevin Damn rights, I agree 200%

  • @kkristiekevin I'm sure the Americans wish you weren't close to them either, bad neighbors like you wouldn't be wanted here in England, either. We're glad you're over there, sorry America, but you've got to deal with the ungrateful idiotic canadians who have no clue about all the good you've done in the world.

  • Nice program, but a less pretentious narrator would have made the program much better.

  • If you love this be sure to catch Michael Wood's 'In search of the Dark Ages'

    also on youtube.

  • I've watched the whole series many times..............very well made and the music for the intro and throughout each episode is deep, haunting and beautiful. It really makes you realise how differently people saw life in times gone by but at the same time the same people were in many ways just like us now.

  • THIS is what youtube should be. I just finished the whole series & my thanks to the one who posted it. If you're just starting the series now, you are in for a real treat.

  • Im an American an I love the BBC. Thanks to them there is intelligent and interesting things to watch on you tube. English History is my favorite subject. I hope someday to visit all the places Ive learned about.

  • my roots are in Orkney and I went there in 2007. Saw RIng of Brodgar, Skara Brae, Maeshowe, Brough of Birsay, etc. magical place.

  • Excellent selections!

America used to be known for similar productions but nowadays our offerings seem to be mostly vicarious junk...GREAT stuff you have here!!

  • so far i like this series even better than the david starkey ones.

    thank you.

now if youtube would stop changing the structure of the damn webpage everyday i could actually see the episodes of the playlist so i know what it contains, like i used to be able to.

  • Ive watched this whole series probably 4 times. Its awesome. Love English history. It has everthing you could want, love, hate, sex, violence, betrayal, the whole thing is just amazing.

  • Simon Schama is the newest Barbara Tuchman. Nerdy as a turnip, but a great storyteller

  • @pnice000 Agreed he is quite the nerd but he makes up for it with his sharp cutting wit and storytelling.

  • Did they find any hobbits in those holes?

  • i'm gonna watch it all over again

  • This is amazing I did not know any of this and I'm british. Thanks or posting.

  • Wow, thanks a lot for uploading these videos... This is spell-binding.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this amazing series! I love Schama and this whole narrative is so enjoyable and alive!

    Diana.

  • I love Simon Schama!!! Thank you so much for posting these videos

  • Thank you so much!) I've been looking for that))

  • Historylover, thanks for uploading this and everything else in the past. I agree on the mindless crap thing... most people can't even point out Britain on a map (and not just Americans), much less understand history prior to 2007.

  • Wow 600 views?

People on youtube are stupid, they'd rather watch mindless crap. Either way thanks so much for uploading all these great documentary's its a wonderful break from all this mindless filler.

  • Thank you! I think the same thing. Many people on youtube don't care to enlighten themselves.

  • History is entertainment, and I'm a big fan of entertainment.

Thank you and keep up the great video's.

  • @1andonlyhistorylover Well, their loss is our gain. However, even if more people watch dramatisations and reenactments like this, it will spur production of more such programs. Truth is stranger than fiction. If more people really tear themselves away from "soaps, serials and fictional movies" they will find the truthful portrayals like these series are more interesting. It also changes the way we look at things (paradigm shift) in real life and even enjoy fiction because things are in context.

  • @1andonlyhistorylover thanks for uploading this entire program and for your time doing it! Means a lot to me :)

  • @HistorysMysterys Couldnt agree more. People have a pop at the BBC, but every now and again the produce a little gem like this!

  • @HistorysMysterys ya and here the scarey part some of us watch this more than once ,,,,,

  • @lesterclaypool1 Well at least now its up to 8000 views. That's pretty good for a multi part documentary.

  • @HistorysMysterys yes you are correct ,,,, but the next part has 4000 less ?????strange ?

  • @lesterclaypool1 ive watched this whole series over 6 times.......yes thats scary

  • @HistorysMysterys in one year that number has gone from 600 views, to 28912.

  • @HistorysMysterys You're right. It's such a strange thought that out of the hundreds of millions of people that use Youtube from all around the world every single day only a small amount of them use it to learn about a subject that affects us all in such a big way like that of Britain in 3100 BC. What fools they are!

Well I for one would never use a site such as this for mere entertainment. Not when there are issues as pressing as this to keep abreast of.

    Intellectuals unite!

  • @HistorysMysterys

The fewer views, the less chance this gets taken down ;)

  • I love Britain great video!

  • Thank you very much for the upload... Blessing.

  • omg you are amazing, thank you!
