Thanks for this.. I just recently got back into guitar after a 10 year layoff and really wanted to nail this solo and song to start things off and of all the videos and tabs I've seen this has been by far the most helpful.
@citb289 Wow - thanks so much for the encouragement. I'm really glad this was useful to you. Makes me feel good to think we're broadening the axe-wielding population of this planet! ;)
Could you please just quickly explain that first hammer on part? I can't tell which fingers you're using. Haha, thanks! I love your sense of humor! Hilarious!
@Ariankangaroo Thanks!! Glad you likey!! The first hammer-on/pull-off is on the B string like this (fret #'s) 2-3-2-0, then 2-0 on the G string. Then a similar deal on the D string: 4-5-4-0 and then 4-0 on the A string. The second time around he does it a little differently - B string: 2-3-2-0, G string: 2-4-2-0, D string: 4-5-4-0, A string: 4-0. Now go, and melt some face-age.
@fretworx Sorry for the thousands of waves of questions. I am eager to learn, and a tad hyper. That last little bit is played over the A and D strings? I can't seem to get the sound. also that last note played sounds really deep. How did you achieve it.
@Ariankangaroo No problem - I live to make the world a more guitar...correct... kinda place. Yep, A & D strings - if we're talking about the same place.. And to get that deep sound on the last note you have to tune your low E string down to a D (called drop-D tuning). They tune that way for this whole song, actually.
@Ariankangaroo@Ariankangaroo If you're talkin about at the end of the run from the B string up to the A string, the pull-off on the A string is just from the 4th fret to the open A. If you're talking about the one @ 1:34 it's a quickie on the A string - 4-5-4-0. Both sound harder than they are! :) Just the way I likes it.
@TweetyButler No, I just picked this one out by ear... not sure if there are any (reliable) published tabs for this song. I do know that about everything I've found online is crap. :P Kinda frustrating, huh...
@Unknown3560236 Palm muted 16th notes? D......A...........G..........D verse Chours let loose and play D A G listen to the words and song for the chord changes, its super easy. 2nd guitar behind the lead follow the bass A to D, A to D and G to D, (more or less) My band picked this up last night and got through it qucik! Its now in the setlist and thanks to Mr. Fretworx here, I now have the solo to work on. Great tutorial, mucho thank yous, I do wish the camera angle was better but thanks!
Thanks! It's my daughter's Ibanez Talman. (2005, I think) But yeah - I agree! Very cool guitar... I thought it would fit this song, plus it's the only electric I can detune the E on!
