  • finally!! A roofed stadium that sees sunlight

  • They should never have started building that thing in the first place, complete waste of time and money.

  • its a giant toaster

  • @gymrat2647 I'm guessing you're just passing through

  • It is time for NZ to move with the times, there are cities around the world with 2 closed roof stadiums like in Houston.

This stadium is a big step in the right direction for Dunedin and New Zealand.

Good on you Dunedin.... that comes from a Jaffa! LOL

  • @gazniz The fact that Houston is a city of millions might have something to do with it, and I'm sure it looks after fundmentals such as decent regular public transport, let alone other (than goddamn rugby) peoples intersts rather than wasting hundreds of millions on a huge rugby cathedral - with a roof, whip de fuck n do. You only need to see how Queensland stadiums are bleeding tax payers dosh by millions in losses, So now we have a lemon that does the sucking in a pop of 120 000, perfect.

  • institute of sport basing itself here, and Elton john playing as well (one of the largest acts going around). as they say, build it & they will come...a wonderful "get f£$*ckd anti-stadium wan*£@kers"... good foresight, pro stadium dunedin

  • @dbnzski1 Yeh, Elton will be bringing his 2 B747 freighters, that’s 2 million in just fuel alone. So, cut the ticket prices (well for all of 100 seats) , make sure her doesn’t play in CHCH to ensure the stadium fills, and pay a huge underwrite just to try make the big farry bin appear multipurpose. You can do anything when you hold the purse, especially when it’s other peoples money. Goddamn stadium totalitarians, that’s not what this city is about, which is clear to 80% of its population.

  • @Pullisto : nice one Pullisto....luckily the rest of us don't need to look forward to a backwater. hey, I note your profession....sadly inefficient rail etc is also costly for NZ, maybe we should just close it down as well?

  • @dbnzski Oh yeh, that just proves your crass ignorance, as rail is being beefed up big time in most countries, in Australia they are investing big time in it. It’s also fundamental in UK Europe, in fact most countries, hello! As for the so “rest of us”, well that would be 20% of the town, (rugby foamers) as was more than indicated. If this place was a backwater now, it’s gonna be even more so with your costly mediocre lemon I mean where else have they built a stadium to bring a city forward?

  • @dbnzski (2) We have a government that backs road transport, with old mates in there, hence rail is not doing well, despite it’s 10 times more fuel efficient! But hey, they gave 15 million to the stadium and not the struggling hospital, so there you are, fundamental transport and even healthcare is second to your prized lemon! BTW the 65 cruise ships that come here per year come to ride the train and also chuck half a million per ship into the local business, somehow that’s more efficient...

  • @dbnzski (3) ...than your heinous bin down Awatea could ever do!! But that’s kinda stating obvious… the brochure in front of me shows Dunedin as the heritage and wildlife capital. What a shame, with all the potential we could harness to get more into this city, make it more colourful for all, we are pandering to the fringe brigade and their boring unconstructive ball game... Great job that Carrick Tremain did in the ODT today (24-1), shows the sentiments of the majoruty re RWC and stadium.

  • @BiohazardReaper your ignorant views on this stadium just go to show how close minded and backward thinking you are. Its people like you that are the reason why Dunedin's average wage is slipping below the country's average. Regardless of what your views are of the stadium, the fact of the matter is its being built whether you like it or not. With that being the case would it not be better to stop complaining about it and start supporting it.

  • @colsa291 Wrong, the ignornace and arrogance comes from the myopics who think their big mega million box is the be all and end all of the city, nothing to do with the average wage. Yes, maybe its being built (via utter lack of democracy), but don't think we should be pacifists and take it lying down, just as when the nazis invaded Europe, people didnt say "ahh well, its happened, so we'll support them!"

  • @BiohazardReaper Then why are you watching videos of rugby stadiums if you think rugby is gay? And why did you like this video if you think it is a waste of tax payer money. You are retarded, go back under your rock troll

  • @Lostkiwi123 first of all its not just a rugby stadium second i didnt like the video and third trolls live under bridges you retard

  • @BiohazardReaper Your channel says you liked the video and internet trolls live under rocks

  • @Lostkiwi123 no it doesnt and no they dont you idiot

  • @BiohazardReaper It did mate under recent activity. Anyway, keep on spreading your hate and stupidity if that is what you wish but I have more productive things to do than have a petty argument with an unintelligent and pessimistic individual such as yourself

  • @Lostkiwi123 The fact that Houston is a city of millions might have something to do with it, and I'm sure it looks after fundmentals such as decent regular public transport, let alone other (than goddamn rugby) peoples intersts rather than wasting hundreds of millions on a huge rugby cathedral - with a roof, whip de do. • @Pullisto What you going on about Houston?

  • @Lostkiwi123 Damn, trouble with computer, that comment was for gazniz who makes mention of Houston, this thing wasn’t posting, or responding, now it’s done it multiple times.

  • you could probably grow crops in their.

  • ok question for anyone who might know.......will it be getting used for other things like when the WWE is over in nz or just rugby etc?

  • Thank you Dunedin for showing some innovation in urban design that my pathetic excuse of a city - Auckland - is seriously lacking. Most Aucklanders are opposed to innovative and creative design. The waterfront stadium that was being planned should've went ahead. I didn't care if we had to sell Stuart Island to pay for it for Christsake...

  • @blUdz18 Clever Aucklanders, they didnt want an albatroos around their necks that wasd hardly ever used, instead they increase visitor attractions , which is what makes people come to the city year round, not a huge ugly box, hardly the epitome of innovation and creativness, what a misnomer in this case.

Of course, sell anything thats actually an asset, like we are , in the name of the oval ball, no sacrifice too big. Arrogant tossers.

  • very impressive, i think that dunedin people in years to come will be very proud of it. next year will confirm this. good luck.

  • Well I don't think Dunedin should've wasted their money on it, but I have to say it does look like it will be an excellent stadium once it's built.

  • Comment removed

  • I like it a lot, great decision to build the stadium as Carisbrook was outdated and hopefully it will get more fans behind the Highlanders and Otago and attending matches!

Only query for me is the roof. I mean I can understand why they did it, but foward grinding games in the pelting cold Dunedin weather was something that the Highlanders and Otago excelled at and this takes that factor away from them

  • NZ is becoming a nation full of cynics and haters. If you have nothing nice to say, kindly fuck off.

  • @Tehui1974 or get some rose tinted glasses, no one likes reality.

  • nz sucks ... they obviously cant host an event as big as the rugby worl cup .... jus look at the stadiums in nelson, invercargil and northland absolutely disgraceful .

i hope nz suffers during the world cup !

  • some people think its a warehouse, well its a better to have this warehouse than the dog bowl eden park is serving us, i saw the new south stand look ok, west stand still there???

  • Auckland has the Garden of Eden

    Wellington has the Caketin

    Now Dunedin has the Greenhouse

  • @sharpnup LOL WTF are you farting about? Eden park is the biggest joke in the world of stadia. The cake tin poos all over it and so will this and they still will even after Eden park's gay refurbishments. Even New Plymouth has a better Stadium than Eden park. Eden shart is what they should call it LOL.

  • @truekiwijoker You gotta be joking! The Caketin is not a GREAT stadium..Too small to be considered a true international stadium...I just wish the would build a true International Stadium dedicated to Rugby, stuff these shared stadiums with Cricket.

Number 1 Country in the World for Rugby and we cant even dedicate stadiums to host Rugby...Shame!

  • @sharpnup Hey I never said the Caketin was great. But as average as it is it still poos all over Eden park. I don't think you appreciate just how poor a stadium Eden Park is.

Gotta agree with you in this dumb cheapskate NZ practice of 'multi purpose stadiums'. STUPID. Have a proper rectangular field for Rugby and other football codes of max 90 minutes length close to transport infrastructure and a completely different oval with all the comforts for a longer cricket game.

  • @sharpnup rugby is gay...

  • love it

  • Haha soooo many haters, wats wrong pepl...atleast its better than eden park

  • so this must be about a 200 seat stadium and eden parks about a 400 seat stadium.

this world cup is going to be huge

  • Farry ,Otago rugby you can go stick the stadium up your fucken ugly ass plus it might be a good idea to bring mask and a oxygen tank as well

  • wow the new Bunnings Warehouse

  • is this a stadium lol. looks more like a warehouse lol

  • why the fuck dont the seats wrap all the way round? whats the point of the corners being empty

  • must have been the same designers that made eden park

  • You must be totally appalled that they gave 2015 to England then. Way to grow the game

  • NZ rugby world cup will be SUCK

  • Edgar Centre v2.0

  • Comment removed

  • i agree! its fucking horrible! looks like some kind of giant overblown D.I.Y wharehouse! pile of shit!

  • what an ugly peice of shit, surely NZ can come up with a better design than this

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet
