  • Good job, SirxMMPD! do you play using joystick or mouse? I'll be joining you guys on NM here before too long once finals are over and I brush up on my skills a little more!

  • @sonickchri Thanks. Mouse and Keyboard. I think 95% of the players play with this config now a days. Joysticks in mech2 have a torso twist limitation and are difficult to get working properly these days in netmech.

    Hope to see ya soon

  • @SirxMMPD i see. yeah, i play with mouse and keyboard, too. no other controls that i use the mouse for really other than torso and weapons functions. i wonder if i could map the rest of the mouse buttons.. btw, have you tried Assault Tech1 BattleTech and MW4:Mercs downloadable from Mektek.net yet? those games completely suck compared to the original MW2T. what do you think of them if you've played them?

  • @sonickchri Yes, i have tried both. AT1's original developer was a nice guy.

  • i use this music from this game to play im my cyberpunk 2020 rpg game hahaha good times!!!

  • Seriously, why the FUCK does everyone use the image enhancement? You just fuck yourself over in the gameplay with that piece of crap.

  • @Gallowell I'm sorry you don't understand the point of it, but the fact is most players play better with image enhancement. Most players that prefer no enhancement never played online in the past because it is nearly essential to catch some movements that are not obvious. Let alone the fact that it tells me if I am hitting. MW2 is notorious for hidden walls.

I have cut down image enhancement from my future videos as much as I could. I'm sorry. I can't please everyone with the way I play.

  • how do u over ride the shut down sequnce

  • press o

  • @MechWarriorManiac360 I'm pretty sure it's shift-O in this game. IN Mechwarrior 3, its' just O.

  • legger ;)

  • indeed. Normally I would never do that, but with speed runs there is no choice. :(

  • this was my favorite map! i remember the 3 aerotechs that fly over you. i also remember if you type in the unlimited jet you can fly over the tall mountain and jump on the jets it took a few mins thoe...

  • I usually used a ppg and a laser with the firemoth, combined with it's speed i found that to be most effective.

  • In my opinion, that drop ship shouldnt have taken that long to be destroyed should have made sure that summoner/thor was disabled, and used image enhancement to focus on the falcon drop ship.

  • Trust me it would have been my pleasure to focus on that summoner, but staying in one place to do that would have killed me.

As for wireframe it would have made no difference with regards to the outcome. On hard with a moth it always takes at least 9 minutes to take a dropship out.

  • timberwolf was by far the best mech, followed by juggernaut.

  • I have been thinking, why have you mostly used lasers with the Firemoth? How come I don't usually see missile racks on you?

  • Main reason is that missiles are too heavy for a firemoth to be effective. Basically say I add a LRM 15. That will increase my firepower by a decent amount, but it also requires ammo. With long missions.. especially this one it is impracticle to use missiles. If the mission was shorter then it may be useful.. especially against elementals.

Also the other factor is heat. In a moth facing larger mechs is tough. Especially assault mechs. I need to be able to fire constantly or close to that.

  • And I guess you don't bring machine guns due to them being a bit useless in your case. And I guess you brought a load of ER Small Lasers to make it easier on yourself (I would like to see you have a few ER Mediums, unless the heat is a problem, in which the double heat sinks may be useful).

  • Basically in the medium laser's case the problem is with damage. See the er small does 3 damage and weights .5 tons. The Er medium laser weighs 1 ton and does 5 damage.

Over time I do more damage with the er smalls than I would with the er mediums because of heat differences and recharge times. Plus in order to get a balanced moth for a speed run it needs to be fast this limits a medium laser moth to 5 lasers at most (being generous 4 is more likely).

I did use a medium laser mek tho once

  • I see why you used ER Small Lasers now. With Group Fire and a fast recharge time, you could trash mechs real fast on full cooling. I guess you use lasers a lot and missiles whenever provided in the trials. And I guess you never use machine guns or auto cannons.

  • If I was in a timberwolf I would use machine guns, lrm 15's, and med lasers. It just is not practical in smaller mechs because of ammo constraints.

I use AC's, Machine Guns more in multiplayer than I do in singleplayer. I will post up a few multiplayer videos of that next week if ya like.

I will be posting sometime today or tommarow an unedited 6 player multiplayer video... should be relatively entertaining. Least I hope; since it was an intense game. Currently it is encoding.

  • The run I used medium lasers on can be seen in the old runs playlist in my profile if you are interested. I replaced it with a new run after I got a complaint about using the 95 version. Time improved by a decent bit by switching from the meds to smalls. 4:19 vs 4:35.

  • If I remember correctly, at the begining of this mission three Falcon aerospace fighters fly by overhead. I was never able to hit one of them. Has anyone else been able to do it?

  • I remember!!!

3 jets flying to destroy my dropship!

I never could destroy one of them...

  • Fire moth is my favorite mech.

  • Yes with a Fire Moth no less!! I remember doing this misssion w/ a med mech, winning but... DUDE you're a bada**

  • fire moth holy hell!

  • Which Mech 2 version is it?

Is the music in-game or mixed after playing?

  • This is MechWarrior 2 95 aka Pentium.

    The music is ingame music.

  • Damn right it's in-game music. People hear it and are still surprised after all these years.

  • I've never been a fan of the Firemoth, it always seemed like I could take it out with a couple of missiles. Vaporize them. I've been playing MW2 since I was 10 years old (I'm 21) and for the first time I actually have some respect for the little bugger. Hats off to you, sir.

  • Thanks, and thanks for watching!

  • i loved this game, and especially the soundtrack too..i tried playing it again on winxp using dosbox, but i have no music during the missions now T_T

  • Thats a real shame. The soundtrack is so good.

I play my original Pentium for Windows edition on my old Windows 98se machine.

There are patches to make it work on XP, but it has bugs that ruin the game.

  • If you are using the DOS version it runs on XP without patches, all it needs is a minor batch file which can be seen at the website in the video. 95 on the other hand, yes the patches for those are relatively buggy, depending upon a few factors which we still have not figured out yet.

  • Like I said, I have the Pentium edition for Windows 95. The only way I can stand playing it is on my old Windows 98 machine.

I use that machine for a lot of older games...Thief, Thief 2, System Shock 2, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy VII, VIII, pretty much all of my dos games, and of coarse Mechwarrior2.

Dosbox has an annoying Sound delay issue for me, otherwise I'd use my main machine for Dos games.

  • Is there a way to get the windows version working on XP?

  • Instructions are at the website located in the top right of the video.

  • ur a hard core mech warrior

  • Thanks, and thanks for watching! :)

  • yehaa!!

  • I remember this level... I used to love this game. Does anyone know if it runs on XP?

  • Yes, it runs perfectly on XP!

Please google "Netmech Universe" and you will find the instructions, it is really unfortunate the myth that it does not work has persisted for so long.

  • OK, I got something to tell you, dude. I have never gotten that site to work. Is it down, or has it been down for a while, and you didn't find out?

  • Site works fine, it was down 4 months ago for a while but it came right back up.

  • I loved the music to this game do you know where you can find it?

  • You can easily rip it off the cd with any cd ripper, it is all audio tracks. :)
