My dobi did the same thing..Thats the way they play...Id rather get bitten by a dobi then pinched....I wouldnt consider any other dog than a doberman..My dobi died a year ago and im still saddened..My dobi stood by my side and my sons side..Very loyal dog to the family..I got videos i should put on you tube of him with my son..you would think he was going to rip my sons head off but after the playing he would kiss and lick him to death..im tearing up writiting this .. :(

@andrewsimpson11 Nah he's playing, My GF's Australian Cattledog and I play like this all the time, I make the claw hand gesture as this guy is and he curls the lips showing the teeth to look vicious and play bites. also very vocal he doesn't bark but play growls. Good dogs and their owners and friends understand each other even without words being spoken. its almost a spiritual understanding.Dog's are great

@Elahina as a puppy he always growled when we formed a claw like shape lol so funny and he never grew out of it lol its only a game you could put your hand completely between his teeth and he would only lick you lol he is so gentle and for 12 years old he is still as playful as every ;-)

It might be "painless" while it's being done because they're under anesthetic, but it takes weeks and weeks to heal, and if done wrong, will always cause the dog discomfort on account of scar tissue, nerve endings, etc. in addition to just looking awful! There's nothing wrong with natural ears; in fact, overseas, it's now illegal in the show right to crop ears, if I'm not mistaken.

But the thing is if the dog is just playing and someonelse is around get scared, the dog can feel it... and thats why we have to play responsible with our great dobs... For my point of view there is so much egergetics games we can do with them like freezbee and agility, good for the mind and body of our Dobs, we have to use imagination and a positive way and be responsible with every dog of any breed.

@KirstyElms Hmmm...just wondering why you pull your hand back so quick. I train bullmastiffs and they know a hand comes near them or their food they are to sit down immediately and not make a move. I have to admit though that is training that is done if for sure a child is going to be around. Guess I'm just not used to seeing this as approved behavior. :/
