@forza1992 Ya I'm not gonna lie, after seeing how much hell the Rapters gave the Knicks and the Sixers this year, I thought they were gonna win a title for sure sometime in the early 2000's. Didn't turn out that way, and VC still doesn't have a ring
@forza1992@v=_VIDwTgeqc0 watch this and the mangment wanted vc out believe it or not so dont blame everything on vc he did everything for torornot iight
courageous win. when the knicks rallied to get it to within 2, getting the crowd roaring and having the momentum i thought they'd just waltz to victory. great mental toughness by the raps to stay the course, making big shots and getting big stops. they'll need more of the same next round against the sixers.
"alvin williams with a mental lapse there with the foul"
wrong, no such thing when it comes to alvin, spree just brushed him off and he got called for a block. It's Alvin's mental toughness that made him such a clutch player
Back when the Raptors were actually a respectable franchise that everyone paid attention to. I remember watching this, a great moment to see the Raps win their 1st playoff series, & do so in the "Mecca" of basketball, against the odds:-)
yeah, we were actually pretty formidable back in the day, we had a great young player in VC, a good mix of veterans, gritty players and coaching expierence-- wtf happened?
Look @ the Raptors in this video...great team that cud easily compete with any team in the Nba (present day), but now the raptors have been subjected to a bunch of European jumpshooters!!!! Damn the NBA was wayyyyy better back then
As a fan since the franchise started in 1995, i think i have the credentials to say that this raptors team was the greatest raptor team assembled. Yes, i know in 2006 they were division champs, and I wont take away from that, but remember back then there was only 2 divisions, central and atlantic, so no doubt the Raptors, who finished 4th this season were hard workers. You put this team vs. the team from 2006, this team would POWN. Nowadays the Raps have too much pussies, im callin u out Andrea.
@1RVBernal I remember this game like it was yesterday.. If you watch this video again, you'll realize that every basket the Raptors scored late was complete bulshit.. Luck, bounces.. This was the most frustrating loss I ever was a part of.. Congradulations to Toronto, their franchise is a fucking joke, probably won't even be around much longer.. And Vince Carter is one of the most gutless choke artists in the NBA.. Pretty sad the biggest win in franchise history was a first round victory..
@montel430 won't be around much longer? TO is in the top 10 in attendance, and has enough financing to remain here for years to come. TO is Canada's basketball mecca, if any team in Canada can survive, its Toronto. Even when they loss 18 straight, they still averaged 16000 plus a game. Playoffs 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2007 ... joke ? OK there. Vancouver's franchise was a joke. Whats a joke is fucking Andrea Bargnani, and that non playoff producing douchebag GM Rob Babcock.
@1RVBernal If MLSE didn't mandate that Leafs corporate season tickets also have to include Raptors season tickets, no one would go to the games, period.
Toronto is not a basketball city. It's a hockey city that happens to have an MLSE accessory in its backyard, just like TFC.
@Flamesfan7 Ok there white boy, assuming that you're a flames fan, and not from TO. Actually if MLSE didn't step in at all, the Raptors would still sell. I already mentioned top 10 in attendance didnt I? How do you now they wouldnt sell? You think that TO is not a basketball city because you're not into to the TO basketball scene. Nigga have you been to HoopDome and other serious parks? There's a reason why Nike's Canadian battle ground is always in Toronto.
@Flamesfan7 TO is a basketball city, the only one in Canada. It just happens to have a storied Leafs franchise. It depends how your perspective is and how it affects how you view it. You think its not a ball city because you're not into the TO basketball scene. There's a reason why TO teams almost always finish 1st in the OBA tournaments. I'd love to play you and show you how a TO kid balls, I wouldnt even let you score a bucket Calgary Flames boy.
i was 13 years old back then and this was one of the best days of my life. raptors winning their first series in franchise history. still the only series win in franchise history. i was on cloud nine.
this was probably the best raptor team we ever had. Vince Carter, Alvin Williams, Antonio Davis, Charles Oakley and the junk yard dogg. We beat the knicks in the first round this year and were so close to going to the east finals losing by one point in game 7 of the 2nd round to iverson and the phillies. If we beat the sixers the next round we would have most likely beat milwakee in the east finals and gone on to the nba finals to face shaq , kobe and the lakers.
Knicks had so many oppurtunities in the 90's to this playoff to win close games and win championships, probly cuz they're fans are so unloyal and ditch them when they suck like now
@playoffexpert1 Hey asshole you have no fuckin clue what your talking about. The Knicks have one of the most loyal fan bases. They've still been selling out games these past 9 years when the team has been garbage. Now they're finally gonna be good again, so suck on that!
@vecman86 actually i do dumbfuck, so ur saying they sell out games against teams like the wizards, i dont think so, judging by the fact when i watch NBA highlights and outside of the lakers, cavs, and maybe celtics, those bottom sections are half empty, big deal, even the worst team can sell out about 5 games a year, and yes you could be good again, only if you buy success, get a front office that knows how to run a team and build something, dont take the lakers spot as the yankees of the NBA
toronto fans should love vince carter and he had every right to want to leave toronto because it was that fool richard peddie who promised vince carter that julius erving would be the next head coach and that didnt happen and that made carter look like an idiot thats y he wanted out of toronto
That's still better than drafting Kobe and then trading him, like Charlotte's GM did. Nash was a late bloomer and would likely have been given up on and realizing his potential elsewhere
maybe it's cause we had a tougher team? these Euro players (no offense to them) they have great offense, but their defensive intensity & toughness just isn't there, in comparison to American players at least..
Nice comeback for the Knicks but they just totally ran out of gas after the 2:00 mark. Couldn't score once on a possession to tie, despite numerous Toronto turnovers. And when the Knicks didn't capitalize, Toronto finally made the big shots and iced it.
This was the end of an era for the Knicks...they've only made the playoffs once since then, being swept by the Nets in 2004.
Pretty interesting how Houston and Rice were invisible and Mark Jackson didn't get time in the 4th for the Knicks.
Aw man this made me all nostalgic and sad. I really miss those days too. JYD, Morris Peterson, Antonio Davis, Vince, Alvin Williams.. best days of Raptor basketball.
it was best of 5 for the first round back then, they changed to best of 7 shortly after (more consistent with the whole playoffs and of course way more revenue)
