I just wish he would have actually "attached" the guitar strap - perhaps at the very end to stand up with the guitar strapped to him. I've got a leather strap that is thin on one end and am not sure if I should have the wide end or the na(rrow end over my left shoulder. (I know - DUH. But hey, I'm a drummer trying to get more into guitar so give me a break)
Very helpful thanks, now I can use my strap that's just been laying with my guitar for years. I saw the bottom button on the guitar, but didn't know where to tie off the other end.
great info, thank you so much !!! but just one funny note: aren't both guitars you're showing classical ones and not acoustic ? :p thanks anyway, great video
Not to sound stupid, but my guitar has no button on the end of my guitar. Like, it has NO buttons. Is there any possible way i could still put a strap on it? Please reply :)
that's a wonderful video . i was really wondering as i couldn't find any strap button on the backside .but i wonder why manufacturer don't give that button when it is build
@Ronald21215 Sorry that you had problems with your guitar. This procedure is something that you do at your own risk, as I state at 5:54 minutes into the video.
@Ronald21215 I was dead tempted to comment 'I screwed up my guitar because I watched your video!!' when he says not to at the end..... But you beat me to it - ha :)
I actually tie the shoelace around the first two knobs on the headstock, simply because if I have it right against the nut it interferes with my fretting. The only downside is I think it occasionally bumps one of the knobs and throws my guitar out of tune, but not often enough to be a pain. Not enough to start drilling holes in my baby! Thanks for the vid.
Thanks for putting this up! I just bought my first guitar today, and could not find anywhere to put the strap. I almost wanted to go back to the music shop and yell at the guy for not showing me how to do this. Trust me when I saw I have looked everywhere on how to attach the strap. Should have gone to youtube first!
nice video it really helped me cus i just got an electric guitar and it had two and my acoustic had not and i was like "wtf mate" but thanks. also why is the black acoustic rogue, ill take it off your hands, lolz
Just watched your video and want to say THANKS! Hopefully this will save me from being ripped off at the guitar shop....now if I could only find a drill....
Thanks for the advice , I have been playing over a year now and only just bought my first strap today . Fixing to the electric Vintage V100 was obviously no problems but I came to You Tube when I realised there was only one strap button on my trusty acoustic . I almost threw that shoelace away just 5 mins ago !
I thought you might be interested in this - it's a guitar strap invention that will help protect electric or acoustic-electric guitars from accidental damage -

does putting the strap button there give a more solid in control feel. i put a dunlop straplock button on the back side of the heel. it didn't give me much control. also, what is the brand name of the strap w/the loop? thanx for any info. nice informative video.
This was great! A friend loaned me his guitar because I've never really had the chance to play around on the guitar for very long. I decided I need to use the strap instead of trying to grip it so tight and was startled when I couldn't find another little knob to attach to the neck. This answered my question on how to do that (although it does look funny). Thank you!
You would think that most people would know something this simple. Let me tell you, right before I drill my guitar, I was very nerveous. After watching your video, I know exactly where to drill it now. Thanks for the guide!
Awesome now I can put my strap on my guitar! Thanks myjacodog!

You might try a classical guitar strap. They attach at the sound hole (check out how Willie Nelson uses a strap).

I think that how stable it is depends on the guitar and where you wear the guitar.
The back side of the heel can be kind of thin on some guitars. It can work there, but the side of the heel is always a pretty safe bet.
The strap is made by Levy Leathers. The model # is PM-1.
Glad that you enjoyed the video.

That is a funky torqouise ring !!! I DIG IT!!! LOL!!! EXCELLENT DEMO!! PEACE!!!
zyruemusic 2 years ago
Thanks. I've had the ring for 30+ years.
I bought it cheap at a roadside shop while on a family vacation out West.
It's hard to believe that I haven't lost it by now.

COOL!!!! Are U a wood chopper...I mean guitarist? LOL!!! When U say West do U mean like New Mexico area at a curio shop? Those are so COOL!! PEACE!!
zyruemusic 2 years ago
It was actually somewhere in Oklahoma, I think.
And, yes, I have chopped wood and played guitar but not at the same time.

zyruemusic 2 years ago 2
How do you put the strap on the bottom?
ztomboyz 2 years ago
That would probably be a job for an experienced repair person.
The wood on that part of the guitar is pretty thin. It might split if you don't have much experience drilling that sort of thing

is drilling affect the sound of the guitar?..
