Brazilian jiu jitsu is just al the ground techniques of japanese jiu jitsu, MMA is based on jiu jitsu also like karate and judo. And lol it is not "jujutsu" lol but jiu jitsu
Ju-jutsu changed my life, for both better and worse. I don't do competition, just self-defence. It damaged my spine, which in combination with my gamer-lifestyle and bad sitting-posture created a hernia at the age of 20, but it's given me alot of confidence and knowledge, teaching me about respect among other things, and given me purpose when my life has been bad. Ju-jutsu forever!
@ramnair23 there are quite a lot of strikes in Japanese ju jitsu but they were not favored by the samurai because as you can imagine it would be hard to get a decent strike on an opponent wearing full armour so grappling joint locks and throws were much emphasized, striking in ju jitsu is called atemi which means vital strike, i personally train in atemi ryu which puts more emphasis on striking than some other styles
@bigmanoooo1 yeah makes sense. I imagine tho that one needs to train to counter atemi too and not just grappling moves. So is Atemi ryu really a certain school of jujitsu or is it the general name for styles that lay emphasis on atemi? like the Kyushin Ryu. And thanks for taking the time to answer my query.
bad stand up. some use basic karate moves. good throws.no straight punchs to the face makes the fight unrealistic. Much to easy to get in close contact and throw distance. Just the frontkick (mae geri) to avoid grappling.
@warummeinname123 Any straight strikes to the face in jujutsu is completely forbidden. Also it's one of the rules you can't use just strikes or just throws, there has to be a combination of at least two strikes to enter Phase 2, which is throwing
hmm it started out good but the stand up stuff just looks like pussy shit, impractical in real fight (my opinion), for me the best combo is bjj and muay thai
@snikttles You do realize this is a controlled situation in a controlled fight? This "stand-up pussy shit stuff" is completely controlled and it has to be, because that's part of the rules. Easiest thing to do is to kick something full force on, but to have control over the situation and actually stopping your foot or fist half of inch of their face is what matters. Because if you can do that, you're gonna be ABLE to kick something with even greater strength than just kicking it full force
@abitesizedcow I'm sorry but I find this very offensive for us, females, so please shut the f*ck up and don't be such a douchebag. Or I'll come to you and personaly choke you.
I train durewall jiu jitsu. It's quite good! Not like this though. Competition really makes one good compared to just training self defence which can get a little rutine when you use it about once a year.
the original jujutsu came from japan and is a all round fighting art. But jujutsu has maked some changes, this is probably(not sure) the Deutsch version of the original japanese martial art.
Judo is based on jujutsu
Karate is based on jujutsu and kung fu (most kung fu)
dude karate is not based on kung-fu its martial art of its own and it has no relationship with jiu jitsu because you only hit no bars ... so stop saying what you dont understand i go on karate and jiu jitsu so i know better than you
German jujutsu was developed at that time yes. And it is a mix of karate, aikido and judo. But there are many kinds of jiu jitsu, ju jitsu and ju jutsu in Europe. And they have never heard of most of these styles in Japan.
And sports jujitsu as shown in this video were developed in the Nederlands in the late 80es as i remember it. I think it was developed by Wim Boersma and Mario Den Edel.
@jonas770 Would you also say it's a good and realistic way to learn REAL self defense? I think it's hard to find realistic self defense training so far... But I'll train for the first time at the Skellefteå Ju-Jutsu Club in 30 min. :)
@7277papp But with kicks and punches it is more dangerous and people have more chance to get hurt, in my opinion. That is why Kano Shihan made Judo the way it is.
But, jujitsu wants street effective techniques, and it's more complete than judo in that way. In first place jujitsu is as a Martial Art much more than judo.
I practiced judo and jujitsu and love both. But I accept that judo is more kind of a sport. Sorry for my english
@toastyzone I agree with you. I think about the way to practice it, and about the randori or sparring part. Even in Judo kata there is striking and kicking, but in the randori and in competition you are not allowed to use it. What worries me is that the practitioner may get hurt when you use punches and kicks. Even only with nage and newaza, is very dangerous.
@kappanisan yes i a risk... but necessary maybe... anyway nagewaza is the more dangerous to me at the street. The asphault do it work when you throw someone
Where the hell are these schools, and where we're they when I was only doing TaeKwonDo and TangSooDo? I would have loved this!
