Who are they really telling this? cos they just talk and never implement the rules. All these so called politicians disgust me. Kenyans are being robbed of their lives by road accidents due to ignorance from those foolish politicians.
we need Michuki back in that ministry and and everything will be in order the same day!...this non sense of Kibaki and Raila trying to pretend to give some orders can't happen...another accident will happen tomorrow and it wil be the same story!...we need actions!
@suensmith Kenya's problems go way beyond roads and infrastructure. Situations such as these accidents are just but symptoms of a deep rooted culture in Kenya where we disregard law and natural order.
The root cause of the problem needs to be identified and dealt with at the core.
Teaching ethics should be taken seriously in all levels of education, preferably a locally relevant ethics curriculum. This is one way to perform a national level change in culture.
where is Chirau Ali Limpapa Mwakwere?....he has time to meet the so called G7 and escort Ruto to the airport but not show his face to kenyans...police is not the answer to everything in kenya they are the escape goat for politicans
@suensmith The roads have been fixed no doubt. What really needs fixing is the culture of "hawatanipata" amongst the majority of our drivers. Most of these accidents happen mainly due to operator error, rather road conditions. The police are not doing much to help things either. We need to urgently come up with laws that allow some sanity on the roads, like license suspension, mandatory driver improvement classes and a complete re-training of the traffic dept.
Is there anybody in Kenya sane or insane that takes Kibaki's half hearted "tough" orders seriously???
How many times have we heard so called orders from the president?? He is more of a stand up comedian than a president.
Toughness would involve, sacking the commissioner of police, transport minister and corrupt traffic officers. Above all return Michuki to the dock where he did wonders. If Kibaki is serious, he should give Michuki his old job back.
@karuitha Another idea would be to institutionalize the issuance of public service drivers license.
Create an organization that will "employ" all public service drivers. Make it obligatory for all public vehicle operators to hire drivers from this institution. This organization would be accountable for any reckless workers and could mop out all illegally acquired licenses.
@MrDeeEm I see bus drivers in other countries are mature and experienced. The traffic rules are enforced and if you break them a jail term or a long time ban is always on the card. In Kenya such rules dont apply and any maniac from the street can come from the street and get behind the wheels of a matatu or as we used to call it squad moja to tao and back.
