baezport: actually, it is absolutely real, as I've had two pairs nest in my parents backyard in a box I made. And, even though I cut an oblong hole in the front of mine --intended use as a wood duck nest box-- that's still how the owl(s) would come up to sit in the opening. Nothing fake about the action/movement.

@HippyHappy70 most birds can make fast, sudden movements, especially with their head. probably saw or heard something that might be a threat to her.

If it were dead, it would look stiff and its movement would feel unnatural. And i doubt someone would go to such lengths to gut the owl and install advanced animatronic equipment just to make this video, because you see, this owl moved her eyelids, turned her head left-right. You couldn't do this with a dead, stiff bird.

Just logic and observation.

@123gubby The owl box is 30' from the backdoor in my very small backyard, 9' off of the ground on a pole with a large squirrel guard. I only see Screech Owls in it during the late fall, winter and early spring. Non have nested in it yet. Sorry I don't have a photo of the yard and box.
