  • Love you Carol! Always brilliant!

  • This woman is the queen of belting. Next to Judy Garland. and Sutton Foster. but Carol is first

  • i'm in this as the jester and really wanna do this for solo ensemble competition this year :D i get to be obnoxious!! :D

  • This is from the second tv adaptation of"Once Upon A Matress!"..Ms.Burnett had done a tv adaptation in the early 1960's with former kids tv host/performer:"Uncle Joe"Bova as"Princess Dauntless" and Comic Actor and singer Jack Gilford as"King Seximus".

  • where can i get this

  • I was expecting a small child in rags to come and step on her toe.

  • @AriLuv101 hahahaha!!!! Soo true xD

  • Coreography is greaaat!

  • Ugh I had to sing this as an audition piece to show my director I could sing loudly and with feeling.

:) It was wonderful when I actually got the right note ;)

  • Is this available on video? Those costumes have got to be Bob Mackie's creation! They look like the costumes he made for the Carol Burnett Show! So beautiful! The wind effect was hilarious! LOL!

  • The 2 people who disliked this videos are obviously NOT shy.

  • Beautiful Woman.

  • Interesting to compare 1964 clips with this 1972 version. It's already getting "toned down" a bit, which only got worse with the 1997 Broadway revival, and became terrible by the disastrous recent Disney remake. I wish I could have seen the original broadway production. Thanks for posting this.

  • @lednew2010 the 72 version is way too polished....and disney effs up everything...their version of cinderella was also horrible...

  • God love her

  • This 1972 version of "Once Upon a Mattress" was produced after Carol signed a new contract with CBS which gave her and then-husband Joe Hamilton total control over "The Carol Burnett Show" under a new entity, "Punkin Productions" (the first five seasons were co-owned by the late Bob Banner in partnership with an earlier production concern, "Burngood," as per the terms of her earlier 1962-72 CBS contract). Also in 1972-73, she and Alan Alda starred in a TV production of the play "6 Rms Riv Vu."

  • im auditioning for this part!

  • love you Carol fav Singer ever

  • So weird since she played the queen in the movie from 2005!!

  • Carol burnett is my idol!! She is sooooooo amazing!!

  • I am playing Winnifred in our production RIGHT NOW!! I love her! I have learned a lot about this character from watching her videos! I am so excited to perform!!!! ^_^

  • what key is this??

  • best Winifred. ever.

  • Where did you get this? I think I remember it being on TV when I was younger. Is the whole thing available? I saw the remake. I didn't like it as much with the whole pregnancy thing. It was more family. I do like Tracey Ullman(?) but Carol's much better in that role.

  • She has the perfect voice for the part of Princess Winifred. Carol Burnett is truly amazing!!!!

  • our school is doing this play. i'm auditioning for Fred and the Queen. both of which are Carol parts :]

  • Carol Burnett is simply amazing. I got cast as Winnifred, but honestly. Nobody can be as good as her! :D

  • love her!!

  • i just got back from my audition at my school's musical for this. I sang this song, and im sooo excited! i thiink i may get winnifred.

    carol is amazing!

  • did you get the part?

  • @spazneria YESS! i got the part :) we did a great job too!

  • @annielove24 Congratulations <3 and I'm sure you did do a good job (really late response btw lol)

  • @spazneria yeah i know. i didn't even realize you replied to my comment! lol but thank you! i was the only lead singer that DIDN'T need a personal mic...go figure hehe

  • lol i love this!XD

  • Carol rocks!

  • she was this part in 1972 and in the latest version of this show she is the qween

  • OUR SCHOOL JUST DID THIS PLAY ^^ i twas in the orchestra XD it was great ^^

  • :D My school did this play.

    It was so CUTE! :D

I thought our Fred was great.

  • Doing this musical for my school! Our Winnifred is amazing!

  • I love this woman!

    :D

  • she has the be my favorite person in the whole wide world!

i'm only 17 and i own almost all of her tv episodes of the carol burnett show. AH! my idol!

  • LOVE IT! we are doing this show at my school and i will audition for either Winifred or the Queen. i just gotta learn to belt as loud as this.

  • @sgshitfl12 i realize this is a year late, but the key in belting is not to be loud - it is to make a full, rich sound in a healthy manner. don't concentrate on being loud, concentrate on having a full sound, and the loudness will come.

  • gotta love carol burnett! she's hysterical!!!!!! "

  • I have been told not to sing a song from the musical you are auditioning for . Don't know what a difference it makes for school though. Good luck!

  • why does the costuming remind me of munchkinland?

  • LOL!!!!!!

  • I LOVE Carol Burnett! She's great in Annie as Ms. Hannigen. LOL

  • Thats not all she's great for...actually, Miss Hannigan is (not meaning to belittle the part at all) at the very bottom of her "greatest acheivements".

  • Oh i know! It's just I'm singing this song as an audition for Annie and i hope to get Miss Hannigan and i thought it might add to it that the song was sung by Carol Burnett. I know she's done soooooo much more awesome stuff, but i was just thinking about her role in Annie. :)

  • Oh, that's very clever! I hope you do well in the audition!

  • Why thank you! YAY! I Got Miss Hannigan!!!!! :D

  • CONGRADTULATIONS!

Oh, you must get someone to film the performance and post it! I love watching all the different Miss Hannigans!

Quite seperate from the fact Carol Burnett played her, Miss Hannigan is also my favorite musical character too!

  • Congratulations!!!! We'd all like to watch it!!! post it!!! :)

  • I love this song

  • im so jelouse

  • I saw a show on tv a long time ago that had Caro Burnett playing Calamity Jane the same role Day did in a move in the early fifties. Carol was absolutely amazing. So blew Doris's version right out of the water.

  • what do u mean by slow? do u know the tempo, the upbeat the downbeat?

  • why is every song that she sang in this show kind of slow?

  • I aboslutely love Carol Burnett! She's my favorite Winnefred! :)

  • carol brunett is legend

  • *whistles* No dought about it.

  • *high fives*

  • *high fives back*

  • ooohhh I'm not crazy about the costumes. I prefer the 60s version.

  • carol brunett is AMAZING. she will always be ms hannigan to me though

  • Oh, have you seen all the other things she's done. Once you see all that, Miss Hannigan just drips away as nothing but a "bit role" in the grand theatrical performance of her life!

  • Having played the two roles twenty years apart I think Carol was worthy of an Oscar nomination at least for Miss Hannigan. She was the best thing in a mediocre movie. Sure she wouldn't have turned it down. I love how she spans the generations.

  • @MrsDorianGray I'm not the only one! That was my first Carol Burnett experience and it's always stuck with me.

  • @MrsDorianGray exactly my point

  • @MrsDorianGray -was that the character (usherette) in the Twilight Zone?

  • ROFLMBO! Reminds me of a show dog of mine... lol

  • Black & White version (1964) is better, I believe- Carol is hilarious in both though :]

  • I love this.

  • ahhh i love love LOVE this! she is wonderful! thanks so much for posting this!

  • Carol Burnett=Win.

When we did the show, we practiced with mostly the Carol Burnett instead of the Sarah Jessica. version.

  • OMG! so much better than sarah jessica parker's! So good! Yeah Carol!!

  • oh my god i love carol burnett and her voice is amazing...and i love the wind affect! and look at how big mouth gets when she sings shy the first time...lol! can't stand the laugh track though.

  • That's a 60's tv musical for you lol.

  • Carol Burnett TOTALLY ROCKS at playing Fred!Just ask my director/mat teacher (We're doing this in April, but I'm a Lady in Waiting, though.)Sarah Jessica's version is not as funny as Carol's version of Shy!=D GO CAROL!

  • i am singing this!!

  • Thank you for posting this! Do you have any more? Or can you tell me where you got your copy? I'm directing this and I'd love to look at the whole thing.

  • she is ah-mazing !!!!! i love her she is so beautiful and sings like wow...i cant even explain how amazing she is!!

  • i know, any role you give her she does it so amazing words cant describe it.

  • i love when she sais shy for the first time. SO FUNNY

  • I love this version. Carol's got that big voice that makes this song so perfect. I just watched the Sarah Jessica Parker version at the 51st Tony Awards and it was just pathetic. Long live Carol Burnett.

  • weelll uh sarahs voice is grody xp carols is BRILL

  • Carol Burnett deserves so much more credit than i think she really gets for this show. She was so amazing!!!!!

  • i love that she played fred in this one then played aggrivane in the new one

  • i love this!

  • can you post "in a little while" with bernadette peters?

  • Delightful!
