canada has private health care...instead of doctors billing patients they bill the government...they know nothing at all about the Canadian healthcare...she said that only Cuba and Canada banned private healthcare...they forgot to mention Germany where it is against the law for ANY private healthcare to make a profit...meaning if an operation only costs 2 dollars than you are only charged 2 dollars...
Sally Pipes is a liar. No one in Canada is denied health care because they are too "old". If a doctor says it is not needed, you simply get a new doctor. In Canada, we can choose our own doctor and get as many opinions as we want. And these wait lists are exagerated. A friend of mine went to the hospital for a torn ligament. He had surgery 36 hours later...Health care is not "rationed' in Canada. In fact, we have more control than Americans do. And no insurance death panelist to deny payment....
@primepathos well u r wrong. I have family who live in canada, also friends, since i too used to live in canada. I will tell u that in canada there is a low supply of doctors and medicals supplies, forcing doctors to put old people on a awaiting list for a very long time. How do i know because thats what they told my grandpa who needed heart surgery and where did he go he crossed the border into the united states and im happy to say that the surgery was a success.
I lived in Canada for two years. Usually the health care is good, BUT this video is absolutely right about the waiting list. I remember a lady talking about how wonderful the health care system was. She could get a knee replacement for free! Asked her how long 'til she gets it, and she replied one year. ONE YEAR! Fetch! I felt so sorry for her. And she thought it was "free". No lady, this ain't free. There's a reason taxes are so ridiculously high in Canada.
the best proof that michael moore is really for our system is the fact that he has not moved out of the country to live elsewhere. he is just taking advantage of the imperfections of our system(there is no system that is perfect) and our public to make a lot of money and public exposure. he could never do that elsewhere. a cunning case of classic metabolic syndrome.
Moore makes interesting, thought provoking movies. He's been doing it for 20 years, and he'll continue. Cunty comments from dipshits addicted to right wing corporate media won't stop him, so keep wasting your time.
John Lennon would think you're a douchebag. Speaking of cunts, the one between your mother's hairy thighs is the nastiest I've ever seen. It gives off a peculiar odor, but I kept it to myself. ;)
@mediacritic and..? You get no pussy bitch. You're a hopeless internet faggot that can't back shit up. You ain't shit bro. At least you could be honest you dumb biotch muthafucka. Get my bad muthafucka bitchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
@mediacritic Bro, i dont give a fuck... Youre a bitchnigga... I couldnt give a fuck less if John Lennon wouldnt like me, i dont live to be another Lennon so eat a fat dick. Michael Moore by definition is a fatnigga. Youre just a dumbbiotchhhhhhhhhhh that assumes hes a genius. Just kill yourself already son. OD on heroin nigga.
michael moore is awesome. he's a charlatan that's played the system perfectly. playing to the emotions of the left to give them dishonest movies that bash the system in which he is reveling.
@mediacritic You're the dumbest fuck ive ever encountered on youtube. Fags like you who think theyre bad ass intellectuals are sad because in reality youre just some dumb bum who sits around sucking Michael Moore's dick and denouncing everyone else wrong just because you believe yourself to be supreme over everyone else. Im sure Michael Moore likes your money faggot.
@mediacritic Im not a republican or a democrat but youve proven yourself to be a typical liberal faggot. Dont get me wrong though, cunts like you are no better than mega-conservatives.
Funny, my disabled brother waited for more than a year going from a primary care physician to a specialist and we live here in the US. Being disabled he cannot afford insurance based doctors and relies on public programs. In Canada his was would only be 4 months??!!?? I think that it still a step better than what the poor get here in the U.S.
In the USA if you have no insurance you can get county assistance! I volunteer at a county hospital and no one is turned away and the medical treatment is excellent. Sadly, the county hospital district is used by illegals and puts a strain on the system. Where I volunteer the patients are 90% illegals from Mexico, and receive other entitlements which leaves the citizens and legal residents with a lot less!
I live in Canada and in some cases you have to wait for things like MRI or CAT scan but in any case it is always much better to have to wait than no to get it done becouse you can not afford it. And eaven if Canada was last on the list (it is not a perfect system), it is a 1000 times much better than the non existing USA health system.
Michael Moore wants America to do our healthcare system better. I am Canadian and I like that there is this idea where it is not about every single citizen figuring all the shit of their life out. How the fuck to pay taxes how to figure out when not to get sick Jesus Christ like it is better to stop wasteing so much time on doing all this individual BS. A government is only as good as it's citizen I would say, so I strongly encourage governments to help increase the intelligence of it populace.
@Aegius Our doctors are not being rationed. They are immigrating. Canadian Medical journal said in 2007 1 in 9 doctors were now practicing in the US. And it will get progressively worse. Who knows where it's at know. But when you need to fill out applications so a doctor can approve you to be his patient, there is something wrong. Our Med student enrollment has not dropped that much.
@fibreheartonetsy THe brain drain stopped more than 10 years ago. In fact, the last 7 or 8 years has seen more doctors returning from the U.S., ,then going over.
@localboyKeali No I'm sorry I don't. I can't see losing your house to medical bills as being lobster. I can't see being turned down for medical insurance being you got sick as a kid as being lobster. I can't see how when someone is told they have cancer, their first thought is how much are my premiums going to up or will my company even cover it as being lobster. And anyone who sees this as a good thing shold really give your head a shake.
@fibreheartonetsy I really don't know where the hell you guys get that information. I've never had any issues with my health care. name people that you know personally that have gone through this. because I have never seen a single person have this problem. I mean if the health insurance companies do this so often I would most likely have see it in my own personal life. There are times that our health insurance has screwed up but to say the the UK's or the canadian one has never is bullshit.
Oh and any "Canadian Citizen" that says they hate our health care, are most likely Americans that moved here. There are millions more Canadians who love our system
@fibreheartonetsy Kind of funny isn't it? kind of like the guy thats eaten lobster last night, goes to lunch with some friends and eats a tuna sandwich and is like, "this taste like crap." and his friends who have never had lobster before are like, "what are you talking about this taste great." Get the picture I am trying to portray.
If there are any wait times, it's because people don't have doctors. If you don't have a GP you need to find one for most recommendations. They are hard to come by nowadays because all our Med students are moving to the US for the "Big Bucks" You Americans are being severely lied to. We and Cuba are NOT the only countries with this system. England pays for everything! Even Dental. My grandmother is from there. So does France. If you get bad health care, it's your doctor, not the system.
Where the hell do you people get your information from? "Canada outlawed private care?" Yeah that's why we have a whole province devoted to private care. Alberta, canada. Look it up. Our prime minister tried to get 2 teir system here in Ontario and we all said screw you. 4 month wait times? WTF! Ummm No. My daughter waited a week for her toncils. My grandmother waited 3 weeks for her knee surgery. My mother waits a week for mamograms and I waited 2 days for ultrasound appointments.
@fibreheartonetsy Look at the date. It's in 2007. Alberta has changed to private since then and there has been further privatization. In USA usually one can get an appointment within a week or 2 at best.
"If there are any wait times, it's because people don't have doctors." That's called rationing. Welcome to socialised medicine. UK doesn't pay for everything anymore, b/c there is no more money anymore. Besides it has the lowest rate of survival of cancer. Dental is now private also.
I am a canadian citizen, and i hate our health care system. in america you can get help or treatment when you want, how you want. in canada you get it maybe a year later, and you usually only get bottom line help. i know multiple people who have had broken bones be casted and supported wrong, and they couldnt go see another doctor, or pay for it to get fixed. also, the hospitals are always full, because everyone thinks they need to go for anything and everything. usually about a 4 hour wait.
@RESTxINxPIECEZ so your not a canadian then because no canadian would say that.
us healthcare-walking into a hospital just for a 5 min talk with ther doctor =$5000, pay 70k or more for broken wrist. can't pay the bill then fuck off and die, thats from the republicans and hospital.insurance staff.
in canada, europe, asia etc- go to a hospital with broken wrist, treated within hours or a few days but given pills if have to wait few days , cost = £0
@jopeon1983 Actually the cost is $1000s in Canada, and elsewhere. It's just paid via tax dollars rather than from the customers' pockets. & the wait isn't just a few days. Median wait in UK: 18 weeks. Median wait in Canada: at least a month.
You can also go to private clinics and not the hospital and pay incrementally, so it isn't "can't pay the bill... then fuck off and die." It's pay incrementally.
@jopeon1983@jopeon1983@jopeon1983 well, sorry to inform you that im very canadian, and havebeen my whole life in fact. the simple fact is that when you have health insurance you dont pay anything either. you pay car insurance, nobody wants that public, its the same thing except with a person instead of a car. cant pay the bill? then theres charitiesthat can help you. waiting a few days for a broken wrist isnt good enough, and you still pay, its in taxes, nothing in this world is free.
@jopeon1983 What doctor have you gone to that charges $5000 for a 5 min talk? last I remember I went to the doctors to get my ears cleaned took 20 minutes without insurance it would of cost me close to $125 or so with the insurance it dropped down to about $16. as for a broken wrist costing 70k is extremely exaggerated. Please get some valid facts and information before you make an argument. Don't be like michael moore.
@localboyKealii yeah okay lol !!! god your a freak, i'm a european and thus don't pay for medical care, im not american. get it right, outside the usa i.e the uk and the rest of the world healthcare is a birthright and is free.
everybody contributes to it though tax as a social responsibility. the rest of the world stands for the good of all
the usa stands for keep them sick = more profits. hence why the usa has almost the worst health record in human history.
@jopeon1983 typical left wing strategy. Drop some name calling and you automatically feel like a winner. However, as much as you may believe healthcare is a birthright sorry to say its not. Also seeing how you're in the UK how's it feel knowing that your social security is gone? The USA stands for you get what you work for. however, I do think it would be better to pull our troops back and use that money to pay for people to do short term job training so they can get the jobs that exist.
Respond to this video... that way when they have jobs and they are making money they can pay for there own healthcare and such so we don't have too. You see what the UK stands for is people constantly being dependent on the government thus making it so they can never support themselves. What America stands for is encouraging people to take care of themselves.
Socialism forces businesses to pay for other businesses, thus leading to a lack of competition and innovation in the work place, which will raise the national debt because the GDP will be screwed. Anybody who supports socialism are dumbfucks. Think about it, why should somebody who earned their wages pay for some lowlife who decides to waste their life? I'm all for giving money to people who NEED IT. But sometimes life isn't fair you retard socialists.
Problem is americans are too dumb to actually say stop to there politicians people let them run it all into the ground, one guy is trying to inform people of the truth and he gets hammered by the few people who can afford there internet and health insurance still, but wait 2 more months and maybe you will be the one evicted and out of a job. Yes im not american and im glad im not at this point wanted to go to america when i was younger and stay there but not with the current situation of america
@japkap Don't make a generalization of Americans. Many of us, myself included, are well aware of the corruption and dirty politics that are being played out at this very moment. Our current leadership is absolutely deplorable, yes... there's no arguing that point.
@bamabelle327 My point is the fact that Americans fail to understand that they all have a voice as do you, and atm your country is being run by 2 bully parties trying to fight over the scraps left after last president left a pile of shit for Obama, includeing the bailout for Wallstreet that got used for bonuses too the people who lost all the money. My point is you all sit back and let your country get the boot while those 2 parties make for your entertainment in the evenings. Rest of us suffer-
@bamabelle327 The rest of us will suffer right along with you if the 2 parties dont come to terms, and find a solution to America's debt. If your country goes belly up with your economy the rest of the west will feel the effect and all that due to AMERICANS not using there damn voice too speak out, contact your congress members for your area's and tell them how you feel do that if you feel like you say, but dont say your aware corruption it do something about it.
"Teach people how to prevent disease" was that witch for real. Behave you imbecile, you need to make them literate and free of inane distractions first. Keep up the good work Michael.
its called being fair to everyone no matter how rich or how many political connections u are u wait ur turn it just shows how americans are corrupted by money dont get me wrong i love ur country but how can u have a health care system that can turn people away this is peoples lives not a car loan
@capstar7075 Wow this went from health care to debating whether or not citizens deserve equal rights. I'm not debating this issue anymore. Live where you want, eat what you want. Believe what you want, but still be happy you don't live in a shit hole.
@MegaCocacolafan Sorry, I wrote things I sent you at 3:00am. However, equal rights are at the heart of the argument for universal health care. And I think we can at least agree on that. One last question, if you are up to it. How does a universal health care system work for illegal immigrants? I tried to look up statistics in European countries but found very little.
@capstar7075 I'm going to respond in relation to how it works in Canada. In Canada you get a health card issued by the government when you're a citizen. If you do not have a health card, you can either get one, or pay (not sure on that). There's 2 different things I should mention, many of the cases are with refugees who aren't citizens, those get the health care even having not paid tax (the homeless too). I'd assume though that illegals would get the care regardless.
@MegaCocacolafan So what happens when there isn't enough money to pay for all these people? There was a homeless man that was a schizophrenic. In a one year period he was tested 50 times to determine what level of medication he needed (why so much i don't know). Each test cost about 5k. So in a one year period this homeless man cost the taxpayers $250,000. What do we do though? Raise taxes? Ration care?
"our system is the best in the world" seriously?! Americans are so stupid and Ignorant. their system only helps the rich and leaves the poor to die on the street, is that the best health care in the world? funny enough the phrase 'health care' has the word CARE in it! i hate americas so much it makes my blood boil.
@shreddernuo Politicians have a reputation for being stupid. Vote for the person who's least stupid, and probably will do a good job. The problem with the school system is that it adhears to the dumber people. There are so many more programs for the people who are struggling, and leaving behind the people who are very smart that want a challenge.
Raising taxes has to come at a reason, it doesn't *just* happen.
Spendings increasing now because of the recession.
@shreddernuo Being responsible has nothing to do with it. As I said to Dogmatist, we have CONTROL over our government. We have NO control over corporations. I ask you, would you rather wait 4 weeks to live, or KNOW that you're going to DIE because someone wanted to earn a little bit more money. Yes, the government is stupid, but politicians aren't stupid enough to screw with something they know will provoke angry reactions.
@Anaduja "Our system is the best system in the world"
It's even more simple than that. All you have to say is look at the WHO rankings of healthcare systems and see that America is 35th, just two places ahead of Cuba, and then ask them if they can honestly and objectively say their's is the best healthcare system in the world.
@Anaduja Lol, majority of our citizens? Only 30 million people out of 300 million didn't have health insurance. Of that group, many chose not to have it. Even still, if you are sick you can go to the emergency room and not pay for it. So how are we ignoring our citizens?
@Anaduja Our medical care might not be the best in the world but it is certainly up there. I think roughly 25% of our doctors are from other countries. Why would they choose to work here if it was such a bad system? Given time, the gap between socialized and non-socialized medicine will only widen.
@Anaduja My grandpa grew up very poor... now he's a retired millionaire. Anything is possible in this great capitalist country... don't stop improving yourself until you're better than those around you at your craft which will result in promotion. You only live once- people need to get off their asses and strive to be the best.
@AnadujaSince when has more government intervention ever had a positive outcome? Especially the US government. Well maybe the space exploration programs. Oh shit thats right we cut in the only field that government has been involved in that actually benefitted our society. Gotta pay for pointless wars and welfare queens
Michael Moore is the biggest liar ever.....constantly distorts the truth and you all watched his movies and believed every word without even looking at the other side of the store....go read "Michael Moore is a big fat stupid white man" at least see the other side and make your own decision dont be a michael moore cookie cut out
nobody except the top 1% in america can afford to get sick ....the other 99% ...who gives a fuck ...just lay back and take it ...and remember if you work for walmart and you die ..at least your death would not have been in vain ...walmart will make thousands of dollars on the insurance it has taken out on you ...so everyones a winner ...well except you and your family that is god bless america the capitalist scum of the earth !!
Lie is a very strong word. I think the word that would fit better here, is perhaps trimming the big picture. And hey, they might have to wait to be healed, but I'd sure as hell rather wait to be healed than wait to die. Like a lot of Americans do day after day.
Americans think their system is best because people come to use it. No. Your healthcare SERVICE might be best. Your system, however, is shit. The American healthcare plan- Don't get sick. If you do, you better have a TON of money to deal with it. The Canadian healthcare plan- A bit of your taxes go to the healthcare system. If you get sick, unless it's life-threatening, you wait a bit, but it doesn't cost you anything outside of the taxes.
The differences between the USA's System (HMO's) and Canada's system (Universal Healthcare) are quite simple. In the USA, if you have thousands of dollars you can pay for it. In Canada, if you have a health card (provided by the government when you're a citizen) it's free. Their aren't wait time in the USA because people can't fork out 50k for a pancreas transplant, there is wait times in Canada because no one is denied care. Judge a society by how it treats its worst off.
The problem with uni. health care is that those who have worked hard and become rich must pay more than those who lives off social welfare watching TV all day. Thats the problem, but of course uni. health care is the best alternative, everyone should have the right to be healthy. But to say that its free is not true, the rich pay for it via taxes and the one who gets sick also have to pay a small amount to the hospital. I live in Sweden and we have uni. health care, it works OK.
@FreedomResistance The rich don't pay for health care in a universal health care system. A portion of money is taken off your paycheck every time you get one. Just like income tax. There are always going to be people who live off social welfare and get the benefits we do. We're all human, whether black or white or brown, no matter the difference we shouldn't be excluded. Their will always be people who mooch off others, welcome to life.
Everyone pays taxes and the rich pay more. In Sweden everyone pays 30% in taxes (of your paycheck). Rich people pay 50% taxes in Sweden. So that is how universal health care works here. Maybe your government grow money from trees, I really don't know. People will always live of social welfare and thats ok in my opinion, but there are slackers who shouldn't get the benefit when they have the opportunity to work. They should be welcomed to life and understand that they must work.
@FreedomResistance It's probably different where you live. There will always be people that live and mooch off others, even if they don't have to. Laziness, greed, human genetics are wonderful.
hey buddy, healthcare in Canada is not totally free, the money has to come from somewhere. The healthcare is funded by tax money. The government should not be involved in healthcare, its ineficient and it makes no sense that healthier people are paying to take care of less healthy people. The US Healthcare system is messed bc of TOO MUCH government involvement. Insurance and medicine lobbyists are the problem, not provatized healthcare.
@dogmatist Of course it isn't totally free. The reason why the government should be involved in healthcare is because we live in democracy, if you're gonna fuck with our healthcare we can throw you outta work for 4 years. We have 0 influence over private companies. Healthier people should take care of those less fortunate. We take care of each others. It's not ME it's WE. Is it humane to leave someone dying in the streets because he can't pay for something that should be a right? Right to life.
@MegaCocacolafan First of all, nothing is free. Secondly, is the government the only way in which society can help the poor? The fact of the matter is that people in America have the freedom to choose to help those who are in need. There are thousands of charitable institutions that Americans can donate to. There are Catholic hospitals that are some of the best in the world. The public library system was founded by Andrew Carnegie. These are just a few examples of non-government assistance.
@capstar7075 I know that non profit organizations and charitable donation centers are good for the causes they're for. However, do you know how much money goes to administrative costs? Usually more than goes to helping those in need. The reason we should choose the government is that we're sure our tax dollars are going there, and from the freedom of information act, can look into and prove it is. I will say it again, the people control the government, not the corporation.
@MegaCocacolafan 1 Lol, do you know how much money the government wastes in administrative costs and overlapping bureaucracy? I want to choose what my healthcare plan looks like...me...not a government, not a politician. In countries where they do have government healthcare, they have higher taxes, rationing, and can't get certain treatments/medicines. And what if someone chooses not to get healthcare? Would you force them to pay for it or would others just make up the difference?
@capstar7075 1. Of course I know how much go to administrative costs, it's like that for all things that provide you with some sort of product or help. You can choose what you want, which doctor you want, politicians only decide which money goes where from the tax payers based on the studies it does on the health problems facing the country. Yes, Universal healthcare means you'll have higher taxes, but did you know Europe pays some of the highest taxes however they have the best -- continued
@MegaCocacolafan Yeah, I looked it up and you do have more freedom (depending on the system) than what I originally thought in many of the European systems. Did you know, the U.S. actually pays the highest amount on medical services per person than any other country? You make my case for me by saying the U.S. will have higher taxes. I agree something has to be done, but throwing more money on the flame will only make the fire larger.
@capstar7075 Yes I agree on the statistics you mentioned. The taxes issue is pretty simple. I'm going to explain it using the Canadian version of payment. Say you're paid by your employer $150 for the week, 50% of that would go to the government in income tax. However, under a universal health care system, it might be 60%, with 10% of your income going to health care. Simply put, you'd pay more in your income, rather than an increase to tax on all products; which would kind of suck.
@MegaCocacolafan Dang, that was fast. lol So it is a tax increase? You really didn't need to explain that to me. I know what a tax increase is. Poor people don't pay income tax and many get more back than they put in. So a 10% increase on nothing is still nothing. It is income redistribution in disguise.
@capstar7075 I highlighted what some people don't know. When we say 'tax increase' people think tax on goods, not tax on income. Poor people should be able to benefit equally even if they don't put in the same effort; human rights > contribution scale. The money has to go to hc because the freedom of information act would allow all journalists to prove to the country otherwise, and would embarrass that administration.
@MegaCocacolafan Poor people should be able to benefit even without the same effort? Does this apply only to healthcare or in all aspects of life (housing, food, education, transportation)?
@capstar7075 Poor people are people to, we're all human thus we should all benefit from what society provides. Those of us who work harder though, can get access to the more luxurious things (Bigger homes, university, fancy bmw's etc.) Still, people should be entitled to something.
@MegaCocacolafan Just to make a comparison. A girl in school studied really hard for a math test. She made flash cards and quizzed herself. On the day of the test, she got all of them right and was the highest in class. Now, the teacher said that everyone, even the kids who failed, passed the test with a B because it is unfair to fail them. Do you think she is going to try her best again? When you reward failure that is exactly what you get. Entitlements are the problem, not capitalism.
@capstar7075 Here's an example on how Capitalism destroys peoples lives. In Detroit, and Flint Michigan, there used to be tens of thousands of factory workers who lost there jobs. They worked all there lives, did everything right and worked for Ford, GM, and others. There jobs went to Mexico because the company wanted to make more money. Capitalism throws people into the streets, it's not about you. It should be about you. NAFTA is still throwing people out of work as we speak.
@MegaCocacolafan ahah what a dumbass. you think socialism is gonna keep jobs here? wht a fucking moron. tht isnt how it works. in socialism the rich will still be in power except they will be about to infringe on your rights not your bad luck suck as losing a job like capitalism. liberal agenda only works in theory, not reality
@MegaCocacolafan 2 Without free market competition and choices, systems will; without a doubt, collapse due to a lack of incentive to making the system better. What American's thought were privileges a few generations ago are seen as basic human rights today. Unfortunately, unless something is done quickly to re-instill and re-invigorate the capitalist system, this trend will only worsen until their is a complete collapse.
@capstar7075 --cont -- they have the best healthcare in the world. They have the lowest infant mortality rate, and the healthiest populations. If you so chose not to get healthcare, you could just sit at home and die, no one's stopping you. The government can get any treatment it want for everyone, you just have to show them in studies that the treatment works and they'll set up a medical trial based on that study.
@MegaCocacolafan Just to continue on about Europe. I don't know if you realize how broke those countries are. France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Germany, like the U.S., are all consuming billions more than they take in every year. Now, about the infant mortality rate or IMR and healthy populations. The IMR is more complex than simply comparing the U.S. to other countries. cont...
@capstar7075 Europes in Debt not because they're paying for hc but because of the huge stimulus packages released to quell the global recession. IMR is important in hc comparison because it shows the quality of care in giving birth (Which is complicated and requires sophistication). In relation to teen pregnancy and not eating right, that's simply for the children and parents to decide. Politicians can make programs to educate people, but they don't have to. I agree on lifestyle bit.
@MegaCocacolafan It isn't just the HC, it is all entitlement programs. France has a 1.3 trillion dollar debt and it is going up by a few % every year. They didn't get that way by having a 1 trillion dollar stimulus, that was the U.S. Your right, it is an indicator for the quality of care.
@capstar7075 France has a huge debt primarily because of the major services they provide for there citizens. E.g. Government funded nannies, unlimited paid days off, college free, etc. France pays some of the highest taxes in the industrialized world, but has the best health care system in the world. France likely over spends beyond what it gets from taxes; as the debt would show.
@MegaCocacolafan "France has a huge debt primarily because of the major services they provide for there citizens." I understand there are a lot of entitlements in France but wouldn't government funded health care be included as a major service for their citizens?
@MegaCocacolafan Perhaps I wasn't clear with the IMR. Teenage mothers have a much higher chance of having infant mortality than women 25-34...and the U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate. I'm trying to show you why the IMR would be higher than other countries. I think it is a little funny that you say it is for children and parents to decide but blame the medical system. Just like with fat Americans, there is only so much a doctor can do if you don't take care of yourself.
@capstar7075 I see what you mean with the IMR, our convo diverted elsewhere and I didn't explain it properly. IMR rates as thus, as you can show, flawed. In solution, IMR rates need to have age groups when compared. I did not blame the medical system, I said that the chance of the infant to LIVE after birth increases with the sophistication of the countries healthcare system (A country in the G20 has better hc than say, kenya). Parents and teens ultimately decide how the baby lives after that.
@MegaCocacolafan cont... The U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the developed world. It also the highest infant mortality rate in the developed world. Coincidence? There isn't much for a medical system to do for a mother who has a baby too young and chooses to not eat right, sleep well, etc. Also, I'm sure you know this but healthy pop has little to do with the medical system and more to do with lifestyle. To sum it up, there are a lot of fat Americans.
@capstar7075 3. Of course I don't doubt the USA's system is good. You don't have to wait 2 weeks or so to get surgery, your doctors would probably do a better job, and the rooms wouldn't be so crowded. HOWEVER! The United States System is only made to benefit the rich people who can pay upfront thousands of dollars. Middle class Americans don't have $50,000 in there banks. Each system has its flaws, but health care for everyone, controlled by the people is better than no control at all.
@MegaCocacolafan I agree with you that it is horrible how people lose everything. No one wants to see grandma losing her home and all her savings. However, good intentions alone won't pay for it. The money has to come from somewhere and like I said earlier, we're broke and income redistribution will only go so far. Entitlement programs always go bankrupt because more people receive benefits than pay into them. The majority wins! Ain't democracy grand!?
@capstar7075 It is horrible how people can lose everything over medical payment. However if they didn't have to pay upfront that wouldn't happen. They wouldn't go bankrupt because there insurance company premiums doubled either. Democracy and Capitalism co-existing is problematic. There will always be problems, but the system that fixes the majority of them is the better system.
@MegaCocacolafan I don't really understand what you are saying here in the last few sentences from Democracy on to the end. 1) Explain how it is problematic. 2) Are you saying that Democracy is fixing a majority of the problems? Explain pls.
@MegaCocacolafan Nothing is free, we all pay for health care. If you go to a hospital, they will treat you, if you cannot pay, the hospital receives payment from their state govt. Get your facts straight!!
@MegaCocacolafan but who's paying for the healthcare in canada?? In the United States, noone has the "right" to someone elses services. Live a healthy lifestyle, become successful, work hard, keep loved one's close, and health insurance shouldn't destroy your life here in the USA. Moving to Canada is always an option if people disagree; many people do.
You act as though anyone without the money to get an operation would just go on afflicted or die in the U.S., where in Canada magically the same operation would cost absolutely nothing. So many logical fallacies there. For starters nothing's free. Someone's paying for it, and up there the money put into the health care system is much more than needed for what is done, look up your own country's numbers compared to others if you don't believe me.
@MegaCocacolafan I agree, judge a society based on how it treats it's poor, and it's rich, and it's ok off.. and everyfreakingbody else.. How many people die waiting for care in Canada, where here they would be treated and expected to pay for said treatment? But still be alive to do so.
Things to attack in the U.S. healthcare system are frivolous lawsuits against doctors that raise malpractice insurance rates to astronomical levels. The same suits that cause doctors to perform unneeded tbc
@MegaCocacolafan tests multiple times over to cover their asses and in turn raise the average hospital visit bill to the stupid prices they are now.. The government entities that do everything in their power to compensate doctors as little as possible for the work they do for people covered by government health programs (a farce in and of themselves) And those Government Health Programs, medicare and the like.
They have been saying that we can`t afford to run the british NHS For the last 60 odd years! There are usually reasons for delaying operations, For example blood thinning drugs for a few months for a hip operation etc. .As for her mother she probably has something that maybe? needs like a scan every year to see how her condition is going, That`s normal practice, A possible fractured skull etc..Is always going to be " Rationed " ahead of her, Either way, A wait is aways better than nothing
@Ibringthetruth1 You are going to keep going down this line no matter what I say and probably end up insulting me. I am from the UK the NHS is a great service. I have used it many a time as have many UK people AND citizens of other countries. Where is your proof of this rationing? Where is your proof of inferior care? Of course it is in debt as it is a public service funded by tax payers. You are listening to right wing propaganda mixed it with nationalistic pride.
@Ibringthetruth1 This is no use. I worked for the OECD based in Paris (I was based in London). America is the richest country in the world yet it has a terrible record of healthcare for its poorest people. Something is very wrong. I have a Masters from an American University (think Irish and Fighting). Good luck.
@Ibringthetruth1 Not really the best HC in the world but very good none the less BUT only for those that can afford it and I think this is the issue here. The drugs that are used in the UK are from mainland Europe. Where do you get your information from? I think you got 'star spangled eyes', baby. Good luck.
I dont think any of you realize that this heathcare system is a major burden on tax payers. It doesnt make sense that they should pay more taxes for sevices they cant use and in the long run the people who see doctors are the ones who have money.
@TriColorMonk Then make your health care more efficient and cost effective get rid of your insurance companies and all the unnecessary expense involved in running them.
@TriColorMonk He doesn't he just wants a fairer society. The US healthcare system is a disgrace with people dying as they can't afford treatment. If you call trying to do something about that mediocre then there is no help for you. Besides, if you have benefited from free education, welfare or retirement you have benefted from Socialism. The main problem is the average Americans lack of understanding of politics.
@Easyandy100 We have not Benefited from education or welfare or retirement. The school system in the US is crap even tho every year we through more millions at it. Social Security is bankrupt so the retirement age is always increasing. The welfare system has made young women stupid and dependent on a check that decreases every year cause its broke. Medicare and Medicate are broke. I'v been paying for Medicare for 10 years and do not qualify for it? Free market is the only solution.
@jsaiz187505 When I meant benefited, I meant that you are supplied with it. The school system etc. may be 'crap' in the USA precisely because of the out of hand rejection of any Socialist policies not because Socialist policies don't work. I agree with the use of the free market to fund public service but unfortunately the wealth ends up in private hands. I am not a raving lefty, I am not a commie and I don't want huge government control. I want a fair redistribution of wealth.
@Easyandy100 But public education is a redistribution of wealth. It was created to give children a so called equal opportunity to go to school. Taking from one person and giving to another. This gives parents no responsibly to raise and choose there children future. It makes people complacent and they make horrible decision once they think there kid is being taken care of. Give humans the chance to make decisions and live with them. That is the only fair way to give man and women a equal chance
@jsaiz187505 I totally agree with you BUT there is a flaw in your argument, you are assuming everybody starts in the same place. They don't; rich people have children who inherit and get a rich education. It's a spiral of causality as is the opposite situation with poor people becoming poorer. The only way out is to redistribute wealth through progressive taxing with funds to be allocated by democratically elected governments. Otherwise known as Socialism.
@Easyandy100 It does not matter how you look at it progressive taxation is theft, plain and simple. The reason people are poor is because socialized polices you are talking about. People wanted cheaper health care we created medicaid and medicare and the cost of it has gone up and church hospitals have been wiped off the earth. We have bankrupt our beautiful country because of the socialized programs and now everyone suffers the poor more so. We have gave more and more money when does it end?
LIES! My aunt died waiting for her MRI! Canida has no longer a waiting list then we do!

canada has private health care...instead of doctors billing patients they bill the government...they know nothing at all about the Canadian healthcare...she said that only Cuba and Canada banned private healthcare...they forgot to mention Germany where it is against the law for ANY private healthcare to make a profit...meaning if an operation only costs 2 dollars than you are only charged 2 dollars...
rosenekokitty 3 weeks ago
Sally Pipes is a liar. No one in Canada is denied health care because they are too "old". If a doctor says it is not needed, you simply get a new doctor. In Canada, we can choose our own doctor and get as many opinions as we want. And these wait lists are exagerated. A friend of mine went to the hospital for a torn ligament. He had surgery 36 hours later...Health care is not "rationed' in Canada. In fact, we have more control than Americans do. And no insurance death panelist to deny payment....
primepathos 3 weeks ago
@primepathos well u r wrong. I have family who live in canada, also friends, since i too used to live in canada. I will tell u that in canada there is a low supply of doctors and medicals supplies, forcing doctors to put old people on a awaiting list for a very long time. How do i know because thats what they told my grandpa who needed heart surgery and where did he go he crossed the border into the united states and im happy to say that the surgery was a success.
iDropShot856 3 weeks ago

CaptainGreen2008 3 months ago
In the USA if you have no insurance you can get county assistance! I volunteer at a county hospital and no one is turned away and the medical treatment is excellent. Sadly, the county hospital district is used by illegals and puts a strain on the system. Where I volunteer the patients are 90% illegals from Mexico, and receive other entitlements which leaves the citizens and legal residents with a lot less!
TheNova1960 3 months ago

@localboyKeali No I'm sorry I don't. I can't see losing your house to medical bills as being lobster. I can't see being turned down for medical insurance being you got sick as a kid as being lobster. And anyone who sees this as a good thing shold really give your head a shake.

@fibreheartonetsy I really don't know where the hell you guys get that information. If you get bad health care, it's your doctor, not the system.
fibreheartonetsy 5 months ago
Where the hell do you people get your information from? "Canada outlawed private care?" Yeah that's why we have a whole province devoted to private care. Alberta, canada. Look it up. Our prime minister tried to get 2 teir system here in Ontario and we all said screw you. 4 month wait times? WTF! Ummm No. My daughter waited a week for her toncils. My grandmother waited 3 weeks for her knee surgery. My mother waits a week for mamograms and I waited 2 days for ultrasound appointments.
fibreheartonetsy 5 months ago
@fibreheartonetsy Look at the date. It's in 2007. Alberta has changed to private since then and there has been further privatization. In USA usually one can get an appointment within a week or 2 at best.
"If there are any wait times, it's because people don't have doctors." That's called rationing. Welcome to socialised medicine. UK doesn't pay for everything anymore, b/c there is no more money anymore. Besides it has the lowest rate of survival of cancer. Dental is now private also.
Aegius 4 months ago
I am a canadian citizen, and i hate our health care system. in america you can get help or treatment when you want, how you want. in canada you get it maybe a year later, and you usually only get bottom line help. i know multiple people who have had broken bones be casted and supported wrong, and they couldnt go see another doctor, or pay for it to get fixed. also, the hospitals are always full, because everyone thinks they need to go for anything and everything. usually about a 4 hour wait.

@RESTxINxPIECEZ so your not a canadian then because no canadian would say that.
us healthcare-walking into a hospital just for a 5 min talk with ther doctor =$5000, pay 70k or more for broken wrist. can't pay the bill then fuck off and die, thats from the republicans and hospital.insurance staff.
in canada, europe, asia etc- go to a hospital with broken wrist, treated within hours or a few days but given pills if have to wait few days , cost = £0
jopeon1983 4 months ago
@jopeon1983 Actually the cost is $1000s in Canada, and elsewhere. It's just paid via tax dollars rather than from the customers' pockets. & the wait isn't just a few days. Median wait in UK: 18 weeks. Median wait in Canada: at least a month.
You can also go to private clinics and not the hospital and pay incrementally, so it isn't "can't pay the bill... then fuck off and die." It's pay incrementally.
Aegius 4 months ago
@jopeon1983 @jopeon1983 @jopeon1983 well, sorry to inform you that im very canadian, and havebeen my whole life in fact. the simple fact is that when you have health insurance you dont pay anything either. you pay car insurance, nobody wants that public, its the same thing except with a person instead of a car. cant pay the bill? then theres charitiesthat can help you. waiting a few days for a broken wrist isnt good enough, and you still pay, its in taxes, nothing in this world is free.
RESTxINxPIECEZ 4 months ago
@jopeon1983 What doctor have you gone to that charges $5000 for a 5 min talk? last I remember I went to the doctors to get my ears cleaned took 20 minutes without insurance it would of cost me close to $125 or so with the insurance it dropped down to about $16. as for a broken wrist costing 70k is extremely exaggerated. Please get some valid facts and information before you make an argument. Don't be like michael moore.
localboyKealii 4 months ago
@localboyKealii yeah okay lol !!! god your a freak, i'm a european and thus don't pay for medical care, im not american. get it right, outside the usa i.e the uk and the rest of the world healthcare is a birthright and is free.
everybody contributes to it though tax as a social responsibility. the rest of the world stands for the good of all
the usa stands for keep them sick = more profits. hence why the usa has almost the worst health record in human history.
jopeon1983 4 months ago
@jopeon1983 typical left wing strategy. Drop some name calling and you automatically feel like a winner. However, as much as you may believe healthcare is a birthright sorry to say its not. Also seeing how you're in the UK how's it feel knowing that your social security is gone? The USA stands for you get what you work for. however, I do think it would be better to pull our troops back and use that money to pay for people to do short term job training so they can get the jobs that exist.
localboyKealii 3 months ago
Respond to this video... that way when they have jobs and they are making money they can pay for there own healthcare and such so we don't have too. You see what the UK stands for is people constantly being dependent on the government thus making it so they can never support themselves. What America stands for is encouraging people to take care of themselves.
localboyKealii 3 months ago
Socialism forces businesses to pay for other businesses, thus leading to a lack of competition and innovation in the work place, which will raise the national debt because the GDP will be screwed. Anybody who supports socialism are dumbfucks. Think about it, why should somebody who earned their wages pay for some lowlife who decides to waste their life? I'm all for giving money to people who NEED IT. But sometimes life isn't fair you retard socialists.

MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Sorry, I wrote things I sent you at 3:00am. However, equal rights are at the heart of the argument for universal health care. And I think we can at least agree on that. One last question, if you are up to it. How does a universal health care system work for illegal immigrants? I tried to look up statistics in European countries but found very little.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 I'm going to respond in relation to how it works in Canada. In Canada you get a health card issued by the government when you're a citizen. If you do not have a health card, you can either get one, or pay (not sure on that). There's 2 different things I should mention, many of the cases are with refugees who aren't citizens, those get the health care even having not paid tax (the homeless too). I'd assume though that illegals would get the care regardless.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan So what happens when there isn't enough money to pay for all these people? There was a homeless man that was a schizophrenic. In a one year period he was tested 50 times to determine what level of medication he needed (why so much i don't know). Each test cost about 5k. So in a one year period this homeless man cost the taxpayers $250,000. What do we do though? Raise taxes? Ration care?

@shreddernuo Politicians have a reputation for being stupid. Vote for the person who's least stupid, and probably will do a good job. The problem with the school system is that it adhears to the dumber people. There are so many more programs for the people who are struggling, and leaving behind the people who are very smart that want a challenge.
Raising taxes has to come at a reason, it doesn't *just* happen.
Spendings increasing now because of the recession.

@shreddernuo Being responsible has nothing to do with it. As I said to Dogmatist, we have CONTROL over our government. We have NO control over corporations. It's even more simple than that. All you have to say is look at the WHO rankings of healthcare systems and see that America is 35th, just two places ahead of Cuba, and then ask them if they can honestly and objectively say their's is the best healthcare system in the world.
01domeafavour 7 months ago
@Anaduja Lol, majority of our citizens? Only 30 million people out of 300 million didn't have health insurance. Of that group, many chose not to have it. Even still, if you are sick you can go to the emergency room and not pay for it. So how are we ignoring our citizens?

@Anaduja Our medical care might not be the best in the world but it is certainly up there. I think roughly 25% of our doctors are from other countries. Why would they choose to work here if it was such a bad system? Given time, the gap between socialized and non-socialized medicine will only widen.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@Anaduja tht is an ignorant statement. you should say your system is best for people who work and contribute to society.

Which sounds better? Being broke, or waiting?
bobmuffins 10 months ago
so people wait, what about the people that dont get.
aaronwrigley 10 months ago
The differences between the USA's System (HMO's) and Canada's system (Universal Healthcare) are quite simple. In the USA, if you have thousands of dollars you can pay for it. In Canada, if you have a health card (provided by the government when you're a citizen) it's free. Their aren't wait time in the USA because people can't fork out 50k for a pancreas transplant, there is wait times in Canada because no one is denied care. Judge a society by how it treats its worst off.

@MegaCocacolafan
FreedomResistance 10 months ago
@FreedomResistance The rich don't pay for health care in a universal health care system. A portion of money is taken off your paycheck every time you get one. Just like income tax. There are always going to be people who live off social welfare and get the benefits we do. We're all human, whether black or white or brown, no matter the difference we shouldn't be excluded. Their will always be people who mooch off others, welcome to life.
MegaCocacolafan 10 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan
FreedomResistance 10 months ago
@FreedomResistance It's probably different where you live. There will always be people that live and mooch off others, even if they don't have to. Laziness, greed, human genetics are wonderful.

hey buddy, healthcare in Canada is not totally free, the money has to come from somewhere. The healthcare is funded by tax money. The government should not be involved in healthcare, its ineficient and it makes no sense that healthier people are paying to take care of less healthy people. The US Healthcare system is messed bc of TOO MUCH government involvement. Insurance and medicine lobbyists are the problem, not provatized healthcare.
dogmatist 7 months ago
@dogmatist Of course it isn't totally free. The reason why the government should be involved in healthcare is because we live in democracy, if you're gonna fuck with our healthcare we can throw you outta work for 4 years. We have 0 influence over private companies. Healthier people should take care of those less fortunate. We take care of each others. It's not ME it's WE. Is it humane to leave someone dying in the streets because he can't pay for something that should be a right? Right to life.
MegaCocacolafan 7 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan First of all, nothing is free. Secondly, is the government the only way in which society can help the poor? The fact of the matter is that people in America have the freedom to choose to help those who are in need. There are thousands of charitable institutions that Americans can donate to. There are Catholic hospitals that are some of the best in the world. The public library system was founded by Andrew Carnegie. These are just a few examples of non-government assistance.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 I know that non profit organizations and charitable donation centers are good for the causes they're for. However, do you know how much money goes to administrative costs? Usually more than goes to helping those in need. The reason we should choose the government is that we're sure our tax dollars are going there, and from the freedom of information act, can look into and prove it is. I will say it again, the people control the government, not the corporation.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan 1 Lol, do you know how much money the government wastes in administrative costs and overlapping bureaucracy? I want to choose what my healthcare plan looks like...me...not a government, not a politician. In countries where they do have government healthcare, they have higher taxes, rationing, and can't get certain treatments/medicines. And what if someone chooses not to get healthcare? Would you force them to pay for it or would others just make up the difference?
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 1. Of course I know how much go to administrative costs, it's like that for all things that provide you with some sort of product or help. You can choose what you want, which doctor you want, politicians only decide which money goes where from the tax payers based on the studies it does on the health problems facing the country. Yes, Universal healthcare means you'll have higher taxes, but did you know Europe pays some of the highest taxes however they have the best -- continued
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Yeah, I looked it up and you do have more freedom (depending on the system) than what I originally thought in many of the European systems. Did you know, the U.S. actually pays the highest amount on medical services per person than any other country? You make my case for me by saying the U.S. will have higher taxes. I agree something has to be done, but throwing more money on the flame will only make the fire larger.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 Yes I agree on the statistics you mentioned. The taxes issue is pretty simple. I'm going to explain it using the Canadian version of payment. Say you're paid by your employer $150 for the week, 50% of that would go to the government in income tax. However, under a universal health care system, it might be 60%, with 10% of your income going to health care. Simply put, you'd pay more in your income, rather than an increase to tax on all products; which would kind of suck.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Dang, that was fast. lol So it is a tax increase? You really didn't need to explain that to me. I know what a tax increase is. Poor people don't pay income tax and many get more back than they put in. So a 10% increase on nothing is still nothing. It is income redistribution in disguise.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 I highlighted what some people don't know. When we say 'tax increase' people think tax on goods, not tax on income. Poor people should be able to benefit equally even if they don't put in the same effort; human rights > contribution scale. The money has to go to hc because the freedom of information act would allow all journalists to prove to the country otherwise, and would embarrass that administration.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Poor people should be able to benefit even without the same effort? Does this apply only to healthcare or in all aspects of life (housing, food, education, transportation)?
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 Poor people are people to, we're all human thus we should all benefit from what society provides. Those of us who work harder though, can get access to the more luxurious things (Bigger homes, university, fancy bmw's etc.) Still, people should be entitled to something.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Just to make a comparison. A girl in school studied really hard for a math test. She made flash cards and quizzed herself. On the day of the test, she got all of them right and was the highest in class. Now, the teacher said that everyone, even the kids who failed, passed the test with a B because it is unfair to fail them. Do you think she is going to try her best again? When you reward failure that is exactly what you get. Entitlements are the problem, not capitalism.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 Here's an example on how Capitalism destroys peoples lives. In Detroit, and Flint Michigan, there used to be tens of thousands of factory workers who lost there jobs. They worked all there lives, did everything right and worked for Ford, GM, and others. There jobs went to Mexico because the company wanted to make more money. Capitalism throws people into the streets, it's not about you. It should be about you. NAFTA is still throwing people out of work as we speak.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan ahah what a dumbass. you think socialism is gonna keep jobs here? wht a fucking moron. tht isnt how it works. in socialism the rich will still be in power except they will be about to infringe on your rights not your bad luck suck as losing a job like capitalism. liberal agenda only works in theory, not reality
tnable182 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan 2 Without free market competition and choices, systems will; without a doubt, collapse due to a lack of incentive to making the system better. What American's thought were privileges a few generations ago are seen as basic human rights today. Unfortunately, unless something is done quickly to re-instill and re-invigorate the capitalist system, this trend will only worsen until their is a complete collapse.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 --cont -- they have the best healthcare in the world. They have the lowest infant mortality rate, and the healthiest populations. If you so chose not to get healthcare, you could just sit at home and die, no one's stopping you. The government can get any treatment it want for everyone, you just have to show them in studies that the treatment works and they'll set up a medical trial based on that study.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Just to continue on about Europe. I don't know if you realize how broke those countries are. France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Germany, like the U.S., are all consuming billions more than they take in every year. Now, about the infant mortality rate or IMR and healthy populations. The IMR is more complex than simply comparing the U.S. to other countries. cont...
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 Europes in Debt not because they're paying for hc but because of the huge stimulus packages released to quell the global recession. IMR is important in hc comparison because it shows the quality of care in giving birth (Which is complicated and requires sophistication). In relation to teen pregnancy and not eating right, that's simply for the children and parents to decide. Politicians can make programs to educate people, but they don't have to. I agree on lifestyle bit.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan It isn't just the HC, it is all entitlement programs. France has a 1.3 trillion dollar debt and it is going up by a few % every year. They didn't get that way by having a 1 trillion dollar stimulus, that was the U.S. Your right, it is an indicator for the quality of care.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 France has a huge debt primarily because of the major services they provide for there citizens. E.g. Government funded nannies, unlimited paid days off, college free, etc. France pays some of the highest taxes in the industrialized world, but has the best health care system in the world. France likely over spends beyond what it gets from taxes; as the debt would show.

@MegaCocacolafan "France has a huge debt primarily because of the major services they provide for there citizens." I understand there are a lot of entitlements in France but wouldn't government funded health care be included as a major service for their citizens?
capstar7075 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Perhaps I wasn't clear with the IMR. Teenage mothers have a much higher chance of having infant mortality than women 25-34...and the U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate. I'm trying to show you why the IMR would be higher than other countries. I think it is a little funny that you say it is for children and parents to decide but blame the medical system. Just like with fat Americans, there is only so much a doctor can do if you don't take care of yourself.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 I see what you mean with the IMR, our convo diverted elsewhere and I didn't explain it properly. IMR rates as thus, as you can show, flawed. In solution, IMR rates need to have age groups when compared. I did not blame the medical system, I said that the chance of the infant to LIVE after birth increases with the sophistication of the countries healthcare system (A country in the G20 has better hc than say, kenya). Parents and teens ultimately decide how the baby lives after that.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan cont... The U.S. has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the developed world. It also the highest infant mortality rate in the developed world. Coincidence? There isn't much for a medical system to do for a mother who has a baby too young and chooses to not eat right, sleep well, etc. Also, I'm sure you know this but healthy pop has little to do with the medical system and more to do with lifestyle. To sum it up, there are a lot of fat Americans.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 3. Of course I don't doubt the USA's system is good. You don't have to wait 2 weeks or so to get surgery, your doctors would probably do a better job, and the rooms wouldn't be so crowded. HOWEVER! The United States System is only made to benefit the rich people who can pay upfront thousands of dollars. Middle class Americans don't have $50,000 in there banks. Each system has its flaws, but health care for everyone, controlled by the people is better than no control at all.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan I agree with you that it is horrible how people lose everything. No one wants to see grandma losing her home and all her savings. However, good intentions alone won't pay for it. The money has to come from somewhere and like I said earlier, we're broke and income redistribution will only go so far. Entitlement programs always go bankrupt because more people receive benefits than pay into them. The majority wins! Ain't democracy grand!?
capstar7075 6 months ago
@capstar7075 It is horrible how people can lose everything over medical payment. However if they didn't have to pay upfront that wouldn't happen. They wouldn't go bankrupt because there insurance company premiums doubled either. Democracy and Capitalism co-existing is problematic. There will always be problems, but the system that fixes the majority of them is the better system.
MegaCocacolafan 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan I don't really understand what you are saying here in the last few sentences from Democracy on to the end. 1) Explain how it is problematic. 2) Are you saying that Democracy is fixing a majority of the problems? Explain pls.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan The thing to note is that by limiting freedom of choice, it invariably takes away from a democratic society.
capstar7075 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan Nothing is free, we all pay for health care. If you go to a hospital, they will treat you, if you cannot pay, the hospital receives payment from their state govt. Get your facts straight!!

@MegaCocacolafan but who's paying for the healthcare in canada?? In the United States, noone has the "right" to someone elses services. Live a healthy lifestyle, become successful, work hard, keep loved one's close, and health insurance shouldn't destroy your life here in the USA. Moving to Canada is always an option if people disagree; many people do.
JThrashYT 6 months ago
@MegaCocacolafan
You act as though anyone without the money to get an operation would just go on afflicted or die in the U.S., where in Canada magically the same operation would cost absolutely nothing. So many logical fallacies there. For starters nothing's free. Someone's paying for it, and up there the money put into the health care system is much more than needed for what is done, look up your own country's numbers compared to others if you don't believe me.
to be continued
daPlumber702 5 months ago

TriColorMonk 11 months ago
Easyandy100 11 months ago
@Easyandy100 We have not Benefited from education or welfare or retirement. The school system in the US is crap even tho every year we through more millions at it. Social Security is bankrupt so the retirement age is always increasing. The welfare system has made young women stupid and dependent on a check that decreases every year cause its broke. Medicare and Medicate are broke. I'v been paying for Medicare for 10 years and do not qualify for it? Free market is the only solution.
jsaiz187505 11 months ago
@jsaiz187505 When I meant benefited, I meant that you are supplied with it. The school system etc. may be 'crap' in the USA precisely because of the out of hand rejection of any Socialist policies not because Socialist policies don't work. I agree with the use of the free market to fund public service but unfortunately the wealth ends up in private hands. I am not a raving lefty, I am not a commie and I don't want huge government control. I want a fair redistribution of wealth.
Easyandy100 11 months ago
@Easyandy100 But public education is a redistribution of wealth. It was created to give children a so called equal opportunity to go to school. Taking from one person and giving to another. This gives parents no responsibly to raise and choose there children future. It makes people complacent and they make horrible decision once they think there kid is being taken care of. Give humans the chance to make decisions and live with them. That is the only fair way to give man and women a equal chance
jsaiz187505 11 months ago
@jsaiz187505 I totally agree with you BUT there is a flaw in your argument, you are assuming everybody starts in the same place. They don't; rich people have children who inherit and get a rich education. It's a spiral of causality as is the opposite situation with poor people becoming poorer. The only way out is to redistribute wealth through progressive taxing with funds to be allocated by democratically elected governments. Otherwise known as Socialism.
Easyandy100 11 months ago
@Easyandy100 It does not matter how you look at it progressive taxation is theft, plain and simple. The reason people are poor is because socialized polices you are talking about. People wanted cheaper health care we created medicaid and medicare and the cost of it has gone up and church hospitals have been wiped off the earth. We have bankrupt our beautiful country because of the socialized programs and now everyone suffers the poor more so. We have gave more and more money when does it end?
