I decided to replace my Turtle Beach X4 headset with the Astro Mixamp & Sennheiser PC 350 headset. I have to say, I absolutely love it! No more wireless static, batteries, or loss of clarity at high volumes or the low end. The only downsides I have so far is that the talkback feature is soft so at times I notice myself shouting since they are closed designed and I have to get used to inline muting & volume control on the mixamp instead of the puck on the controller. All in all, it was worth it!

@Hellhog7 The other big plus to having the high fidelity gaming headset with the Astro Mixamp is that I only use one headset for both PC and Xbox now which is much nicer. I even use it over my Sennheiser HD 428's for stereo music listening. Definetly a nice upgrade. Note to anyone with an Xbox though, going from wireless TBs to a Astro/Senny duo ment a lot more cable mess, however, I game now at a desk on a monitor instead of a TV like in the past so wireless is pointless for me.

The volume control is the same as if it was on the cord still inline controller. It isn't digital and will make scratchy and sometimes cut the sound out with over use.

A+ So far a couple days in use. Much more durable than the two other headsets i had in the past (7H, and AX 720)

Sound quality is out standing, the build quality is solid, but light, and feels very well built. The mic is near perfect for chatting on Teamspeak 3, or Ventrillo, and the on headphone controls are solid, and responsive. THE ONLY downside is the size of the mic, but this never bothered me.

If the cord breaks il post a comment on this, but i don't expect it to.

@tmaxnun2 7H's are a piece of shit by the way, but the AX 720's are a nice console headset if that's what your looking for, you can also use the AX 720's box along with the PC 360's, and adapter cords to play, and talk with on the xbox 360, PS3, or whatever the hell works with the plugs

I have done enough obsessed review searching to know what the competitors are, but I kind of want a end all answer. Now that they fixed the bass response and the fact that I can switch between a open to semi-open can, it sealed the deal. Plus the design, the white version, detachable mic (can also switch sides) and the custom speaker tags... I was sold. Plus the ear pads are memory foam! You just get more with the A40s. The 2011 version is hands down the best headset now.

@IqsMontegro your comment is 4 weeks old. Did you make a decision? Also, there is a big difference between good bass and loud bass. Also open headphones typically dont have particularly loud or strong sub-bass (the impact). Before listening to anyone id reccomend checking out open vs closed headphones. The 360 are open, the 350 are closed. Closed have louder and higher impact bass (not necessarily "better"). Also consider the sennheiser hd595, which apparently the 360s without mic.

Hey guys I bought the Astro 5.8rx MixAmp and im having trouble setting it up, I plugged my headset into it via the adapter that combines voice and sound into one. I also plugged it into the computer via the USB cable. For some reason its not reading it and I can't use it, im running Windows 7 btw.

@JimmyRittenborg yes what it does is takes the mic and headphone jacks and makes them into 1 jack like iphone earbuds.

@JimmyRittenborg You just gotta make sure its a 4 poled end. meaning on a stereo jack you will see 2 black lines, 3 pieces of metal. on the 4 pole, you see 3 black lines and 4 pieces of metal. That third line is the mic.
