Jacob did refer 2 black smoke guy or black smokey dude as I call him, as his bro. So although smokey dude body died his spirit lived. You should warn if you're going to say something that the producers have said. Some of us avoid reading anything they say about upcoming episodes for a freaking reason.

@mollywobbles0928 i don't even know for sure if the producers have said that. but either way, sayid said that! if you would watch our reviews, then you would know that we do not read spoilers, or really anything pertaining to LOST. this is just what we thought about the current episode, because some of us avoid reading anything they say about upcoming episodes for a freaking reason! ;)

MIB is still Jacobs brother just in a state of suffering. The mom was like MIB too. She was most likely thrown into the light and suffered a fate worse than death (protecting the island for all eternity). When MIB killed her she said," Thank you" like she was being relieved of a heavy burden. The smoke-mom intended for MIB to take her place as the protector (smoke monster) but she may have also needed Jacob to keep him on the island so he couldn't leave. MIB either wants to die, or to leave.

@R9Game, @tufufcboy, @afotopoulos, @supermanrules4, @Kitsua, @Icemanh42, @MrMacGamer let me get one thing straight. what we say is not fact, this is what we are speculating. this is what it comes down to: we said that MIB is not the smoke monster because we though it was obvious (when we saw MIB's body) that the smoke monster took the form of MIB and ever since has used the previous memories of MIB to manipulate whoever he wants (e.i. jacob, kate, etc.)

we have seen this many times before when the smoke monster uses someones dead body to manipulate other people. by the story given, the producers have basically told us that the smoke monster is evil incarnate. NOT MIB, or any other character smokie has taken form as!! so i think it is safe to say that we have the same opinion of @Props2u, @yoyrut10000, and @elipoop123 when it comes to the MIB/Smokie thing.

If the smoke monster is not Jacob's brother why did smokey pull Kate aside and tell her the story about his crazy mother? Why did smokey quote his mothers thoughts on mankind (it always ends the same...)? Also, in Ab Aeterno, the smoke monster and Jacob are sitting on the rocks talking like they are close....doesnt add up to me. Is it possible that by going to the light, all of the good was sucked out of MIB. Basically, I still think that the smoke is Jacob's brother in the pure evil form.

When I finished watching this episode, I didn't exactly like it... But now that I watched it again, I think this is one of the best Lost episodes ever. I like a lot how even Jacob is lost in his life... after all that's the name of this show, isn't it?

@Kitsua thank you that is exactly what i was gonna say because smokey in richard's episode tells richard that jacob stole his body. So it tells me that it is still jacob's brother but in spirit form without a body.

I think the smoke monster is still Jacob's brother. I think that the man in black left his body behind when he became the smoke monster, and that's how they had his dead body. If they were indeed two separate beings, the producers would not have made the connection between the two, about how they both want to leave the island.

@R9Game Shouldnt you know by now that MIB doesn't exactly tell the truth? Smokie has always been in the electromagnetism, it just manifested itself as MIB, the first thing it saw. remember in season 5 when MIB pretended he was lock until he got to the foot?

I think that Locke is the MIB i believe the MIB has disguised himself as Locke because a few episodes ago when Locke was in the Woods he saw the Jacob and acted wierdly from this episode in it and it hit me after i watched this episode that Locke is the MIB anywone agree?

I agree 100% but you wouldnt believe how many people on the lost boards still think MiB was Smokey. It seems when Smokey takes over a dead body he has all of its memories which helps aide it in manipulation. And also this smoke thing can change into ANY shape it wants at any time and can choose who it wants to see him. Like say a black horse for Kate, or Alex for Ben, or a bird for Hurley, or Jacob and MiBs real mom, etc etc.

seeing the smoke monster come out of the cave and then seeing MIB's body afterwards makes me think about the John 3:05 quote that Mr Ecko said to Lock before he died about aman born of water and spirits can not enter the kingdom of God, also that whole spiritual thing about water being the medium between the living and the underworld.

Also, we see now that Jacob is much more of the dishing out wrath mofo where as MIB was peaceful until the woman that kidnapped them after killing their mother kills all his people (the people he spent more time with than her!) MIB loved his fake mother but she used and tricked him and his brother he loves and killed his people so he snapped for a moment. Remember he never fought Jacob.

This episode just makes me hate Jacob more than I already had and love MIB more than I already had. I've never once felt bad for Jacob, he was a doddering idiot that believed everything this woman said even though she was obviouslying about a lot to him and his brother. She respected MIB more because he questioned. I guess she thought that maybe one day he would come around but he was never a blind faith imbecile
