@pabiQLLD because he uses both the overdriven and acoustic sounds. an acoustic with that overdriven tone sounds better than an electric guitar with an acoustic emulator.
SCUMBAG FATHER? NY Daily News: Al Di Meola got three gold albums, but the guitar virtuoso doesn't want to pay a penny in child support for his 8-year old son, Kyle. Di Meola allegedly has visited his son only once, according tomother, Magda Barreca.Di Meola Productions rakes in millions but he claimed to have a salary of $49,000 in Family Court & defaulted on $122 per week payments. Di Meola has a $Multi-million dollar Colonial mansion in N.J., a condo in Miami, Land Rover & Mercedes SL 600.
@MrBumpoo13 he uses a pick the majority of the time to articulate notes better but some songs like "Azzura" he plays with his fingers, preferring a softer tone
I think he is both the best guitarrist and composer for that instrument. Astonishing how intelligent, complex but easy listening his music is if you know it. I have listened to his early work from around 1975-1978 know and then for more than three decades.
However his second album was even better and, believe it or not, his first solo album Land of the Midnight Sun must be one of the best LP ever recorded !.
@tevevid Same here, brother! I had the pleasure of seeing RTF live. Amazing stuff...one of the most memorable concerts I've ever experienced. Yes, those first two albums are in my vinyl collection and were on my turntable quite often. The man is a master.
I remember about twelve months ago when he had a show planned for Canberra. I drove a long distance from my rural town only to find out the show had been cancelled. Needless to say, I was very upset. Never did find out why he cancelled. I imagine it was because not many tickets were sold due to the fact that a small tub of yoghurt has more culture than Canberra.

@bvried yeah dude i know that...but i wanna tell you that i am an egyptian :D and i dont see that this song related to the egyptian music or dancing :D !! so thats why i am wondering why they called it like that ?!!
@khaledlead Probably because of the stereotypical sounding egyptian stuff you would hear in movies (no offense to al's music this song is awesome though) Just sounds like Phrygian Dominant and alot of that raised 7th harmonic minor stuff. So it gave it an exotic feel and I guess that lead to that egyptian thing :S
I don't know why, but I'm getting a picture of Omid Djalili dancing to this. Make it stop! Make it stop! I sure would liked to have been at this concert!
@curunduraj Yeah, DiMeola has the Paganini syndrome. Same as Petrucci, Vai, Satriani, Impellitery, Bratta, DeMartini et al. What are you feeding these guys over there in Italy!
I love Al di Meola, he's nuts - the good way - love his music to bits but just to please my ear (and he ain't writing music for me is he? lol) he could just a tad bit slow down with the complexity - we all know yer a genius - now hold a rhythm for a bit :)
Al Di Meola is a magician on the strings. His tone, speed, and feel are second to none. It's always a pleasure hearing him play the guitar. This is a terrific tune. It's so exotic and full of passion.
This sounds as excellent as the more sparse original. The orchestration really fills out the sound and gives it much more textre. It must be tough, even for a master like Al D. to "not" play certain parts and allow the piano, etc., to fill in some parts that he'd been playing as a continuous song for years and years!
The GodFather of fusion ... proof positive of the intrinsic regenerative life affirming properties instilled within the ebb / flow of musical dedication .. 528Hz especially.
@Utubesuxmycock "why doesnt he just play electric guitar and make a prog band...."
He was in the epic Fusion band = Return To Forever = one of the BIG 3 Fusion bands of all time - Mahavishnu Orchestra and Weather Report being the other two. Starting a Progressive Metal band would be going backwards from a musical perspective. What he should do is stop playing these dainty little tunes and stick to the balls out speed/alternate picking thing he did with Paco and McLaughlin...
@Fantomex92 "I like his touch...is amazing...but Stochelo Rosenberg is better...i can't stand fusion..."
In my opinion; Al sounds like shit when he tries to lay back - such as this tune. For Electric, his performance on the Romantic Warrior album is Al Di Meola at his best. On acoustic, his work with the original Super-Trio with Paco and McLaughlin is epic.
However, I've yet to see Al play Bebop Jazz or Gypsy Jazz in the vein of George Benson, Stochelo Rosenberg, Birelli - et.al...
.. and you are an idiot, i told meistromac91 to go have a listen to lady gaga claiming that his musical fortitude can only handle something as pathetic as such.. when did i call al di meola shit? i hate stupid people like you.. must be nice..
