To be honest, my Nissan GT-R R35 goes faster than this...and it doesnt chew up my gas for 12 mpg city and 19 highway ._. GT-R is 2x cheaper aswell =/ but if i had the money for it, Its a beauty car for everyday driving

@hjga1 The car never went into production (cancelled in 2009) so no official price was ever issued. Speculation is that it would have been in excess of $200,000.

in this economy, they wouldn't be able to sell the amount they would need to manufacture in order to exceed profit expectations.

which would mean a limited release at regular prices

which would totally raise the resale value

which is a plus for consumers bt nada for audi.

its just not a big enough pay out for the risk.

yes but in this economy diesel is more desirable due to the savings on fuel. They race Le Mans 24hrs in a diesel. It would be good for the image i think to have the fastest diesel production car in the world which although they wouldn't make a profit on the car it gives the Audi brand and image big credibility. That's why i wish they would do it.

I agree, it would have been a great badge to say "we produced the fastest diesel supercar" bt unfortunately it looks like that will remain on the race track.

plus the price of diesel fluctuates so severely, it wouldnt be a real "street car". which is crazy bc diesel is just a by product of gasoline. it's like someone raising the price of donut holes.

the V12 Diesel is much more unique and it is verry efficent. The nearly silent engine sound is also unique in the automotive world. The look of the V12 Le mans is just awesome compared to the normal R8, i would prefer one of those instead gtr

the reason why i love TDI's is because they have a crazy amount of torque for a car and the engines last for a very very long time

cuz the gt-r goes to 0-60 in 3.5 sec and both of this r8 cant beat the gt-r? but the gt-r has less than 500 hp........explain why the r8 is so expensive

because the gear ratio is maybe different, because maybe the times are claimed factory times, because the V10 Diesel has to much torque and therefore wheelspin for a good 0-60 time? what about the 50-100 time? Or 0-160? The V12 Diesel is a green car against the gas wasting GT-R and the materials are from another world, GT-R is like a beached whale, thats why the price difference.

Yea, 0 to 60mph in 4.2 seconds sounds right. I mean, the 420bhp R8 does 4.1, but that's completely gas. Diesel engines are quite a bit weaker. The flip side is that you still get 500bhp and probably pretty close to about 18 or 19mpg, rather than about 12mpg you'd get as a 100% gas model. Very good car. Over 700 ft.-lbs! Damn, that oughta cost pretty close to $200,000.

It will compete with the Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG. In fact, it'll be a direct competitor to the CL65. Same acceleration time, same amount of cylinders. The R8 V12 TDI has ought to be at very least $250,000 (I was wrong when I said $200,000). That's a very impressive engine.

here's what people fail to understand.

audis and benz's are luxury cars. the r8 has a very upscale, comfortable interior. step in that f430 that you want so much, and you will have no navigation system and depressing plastic materials. yuck!

i do understand that but its just the passion and soul of the car i would love but i also love the luxurious things these cars have. my ultimate dream car is the mercedies mclaren SLR because its fast and is very luxurious but its going to be about $520,000 so i would just pick a super car i can see myself buying in the next couple of years it also just depends on the mood i am in i would most likely buy the audi r8 because it is like you said its luxurious, and is a very good performance car

yea and don't get me wrong, the ferrari f430 has a "sportier feel" to it than most sports cars from audi, bmw, mercedes, and even porsche. it is slightly faster than the audi r8, and i'm positive that it has a lot more power. i just think that if you were to take a $110,000 audi r8, but add $75,000 worth of optional features to make it $185,000 (what the ferrari costs), i assume that people would much rather have an audi r8. the f430 is more of a "sports" car while the audi r8 is a better buy.

yea, i know that's ridiculous. audis get exceptional fuel economy for luxury cars. the a4 gets 31mpg!! the c-class gets like 22!

i'd sell the audi r8 TDI at around $250,000. it's slightly slower to 60mph than the regular r8, though it has a fuckin' v12!!! DEFINITELY sell it for more than the lamborghini gallardo; the lambo has a V10 and now TDI technology whatsoever. and i assume the audi has more standard features, considering audis are luxury cars. ferraris are a fuckin' waste of money.
