I am in stage 4 now, battling this killer cancer since '05...
Thank you, Mr. Springsteen, for continuing to bring public awareness to a very under-aware public and help to the under-funded research area, on this devastating illness.

There are not enough dermatologists to check everyone routinely, but primary care physicians (we call them GPs in the UK, and I am one) can be trained in early diagnosis of melanoma using the dermoscope, a hand held skin micrsocope. Early detection=survival
Moles which are changing, multi-coloured, irregular in shape, which have black or red colouration, which just look wrong-get them checked.
my mum had the amelanotic type though ,that's a rare one among melanoma cancer, it has no pigment so it's hard to be diagnosed. two different surgeons operated her 5 times on an ingrown big toe nail.when she finally, got to see another doctor who was clever enough to take a biopsy, we heard about 10 days later it was wrong.toe got amputated,1,5 year later lymfe had to be removed from groin,1,5 year later she died.doctor's should be aware about this type as well
