Now I know why all my packages arrive broken. These guys are doing barrel rolls enroute. Great job. Recommendation. Stick a dummy turbine on # 2 to make it more realistic.
Wish someone like Norman Rauch was in the US or better yet offer a course where people could go and build there own under the assistance of professional model builders. This I feel would be a money making venture.
That's an amazing plane! Awesome. Can you imagine a real DC-10 doing the things you were doing in the clip? BTW, would it have been destabilizing to the plane to have a 3rd engine in the canard, or would it just have been overkill?
So are ya gunna get brave and install the 3rd engine?? (it looked like a dummy up the back end tha's all.) I am impressed at how the circuits and bump looked so prototypical!!
Neah, this model only has one AMT turbine mounted in the vertical stab. You can get one in air for under 6,500.00 Most all major cities in the US have RC clubs and most all have a more than a few jets now days.
I like this video. watched it several times. if I win the lottery, i'm gonna buy one myself! not getting my hopes up though. i think you also have to have a special license to fly an rc dc-10.
estimate about 4-5G per engine, about 6-7G for the airframe, and a few more grand for the equipment. then add a few years or learning how to even run a turbine.
Everyone keeps asking how much it costs for a jet like this......Try about $4000 per engine plus radio gear, landing gear, building skill, paint and a very compitent and confident pilot. All this plus crossed fingers......probably around 10-15k.Hurts my wallet just to see it fly,but the look and sound are priceless.I love this hobby....err investment!
you can't really buy them as a complete unit. Most of the best ones like this are hand built. The gas turbines cost about £2000 each, then you're looking at EECS, servos, receivers, transmitters, landing gear, fuel system etc plus of course the build time and materials for the aircraft itself, so it's an expensive hobby. In the UK, you also need a licence from the CAA if you want to fly something this size.
wow, simply amazing, I can't believe anyone would leave a negative comment on this thing. Its big and beautiful, and if you want to yo do as many aerobatics as you want! you spent the money so enjoy the shit out of it!
Private airports can be closed to regular aircraft and NOTAMS posted to that effect. Real pilots also always call the airport on UNICOM frequency to check for traffic in pattern, active runway, wind speed and direction etc... This looks like it was a properly planned, safe event.
Wyzarme: I am glad you took it in good spirits, after all at 13 there is still alot to learn about aviation. I admire your enthusiasm ! ps the L1011 & DC-10 are two of my favourite aircraft !
